  3. Fully prepared to be abused and have the urine extracted but whatever the wife asks I obey. She is finding it very hard, because of the weight to use her pre owned e bike. She saw a young girl riding a push bike with stabilisers and asked could I fit similar on her e bike until she got used to it. Well could I?
  4. As I was unsure if the bikes worked went down the lead acid way to keep down costs.3 x 12 volt 14ah from vbat £118. Will think about lithium for second bike. Thanks for your interest D8ve.
  5. D Day today.Batteries delivered promptly but had to wait till today ,working,to replace into battery case.Charged up I headed to shed with everything crossed.Popped battery on turned key and hey presto full charge reading.Out into road to get used to extra weight of e bike.Operated thumb throttle and could not believe how rapid and smooth bike was.Back to shed to swap battery over to it's twin and got the same result.Well pleased!
  6. About to replace 3 x 12 volt lead acid batteries in case but not sure how to safely do it.Please help. Do I negative then positive with push on connectors each battery or do I 3x negative then 3 x positive again with push on connectors. When do I connect 20 amp fuse in line.Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any advice.
  7. Hi Alan.Looking through the threads and saw this.Batteries I am looking at,if they will fit in case, are Denka 1214OC.Are they different to 1214EV.
  8. Exactly the same Craiggor.Where did you find the photo?
  9. Hi there.Has anybody any info on the above e bike that I have purchased as a pre owned.Unable to use at the mo or ever as having battery problems at the moment. Is it pedal assisted or throttle powered, thumb throttle on handlebars.Suspect about ten years old but both in fantastic condition.Motor 200 watt internal geared, brushed, controller DKY3616.Just reading from pamphlet. Are they worth throwing a bit of money at them.Any info would be most appreciated.
  10. Thanks Malkie and Alan for your time.Had to snip off spade connectors and then the hard work started getting batteries out of case.Think Gorilla glue was used.Vbat looks good and they have 12 volt 14ah for £118.Thanks again.
  11. Thanks for your reply Alan.Just had another look inside battery pack and realised I do not need to change the wiring as first thought to fit batteries seen on the net.Same question applies though will batteries of same ratings and sizes operate my e bike even though the description does not mention an e bike.Still having the same problems pulling off spade terminals.Any ideas. Thanks Bill.
  12. Thanks for your replies.Have seen a few on e bay but confused as most just say ok for mobility scooters ,quad bikes and childs toys.Ratings and sizes match but would they be ok for e bike. Thanks for any help.
  13. Hi there. Can anybody suggest where I locate replacement batteries for a pre owned e bike I have recently purchased.Batteries are 3 x 12 volt 12ah. 150cm long 97cm wide 100cm high.. lead acid.Do not want to go lithium at the moment as quite frankly not sure if the e bike will actualy work so do not need the added expense. Push on terminals are both on the same side along the length unlike all batteries I have seen for sale on the net.Aware wiring can be changed for these batteries but as my next question suggests me and technical do not see eye to eye. I am unable to pull off the connectors which seem to have a sealing type application round them, not the rubber covers.Any suggestions for location and removal of spade connectors would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  14. I'm for selling these bikes explaining batteries need replacing unlike original seller.Wife does not want to saying replace one battery pack and seeing the result.I am still reluctant as battery replacement does not guarantee bikes will work. What do you think?
  15. Thank you gentlemen for giving up your valued time giving an ignoramus your simple explanations.Me thinks the bikes must be sold pronto.
  16. Thanks for your replies guys.Am I being a bit thick here but if you use the bike on a trip the voltage would drop. The following day if you switch on the power gauge would you not get a reading even if battery had discharged below say 20 volts. What does BMS mean Nealh,
  17. Have recently acquired two pre owned electric bikes with throttle switch on handlebars. They have not been used for a number of years and I was aware I would have battery problems.Have charged one of the 36 volt (3x12) battery packs up and a voltage meter tells me it is pushing out 22 volts. When I place battery pack back on bike lights and horn work ok but power gauge showing state of battery reads empty and no power comes from the throttle.Fully aware batteries are useless but surely power gauge should show a little charge and throttle would give a little bit of power.Tried battery pack on the other bike and same applies also checked fuses on speed controller.Any suggestions would be appreciated as I paid a lot of money for these and the wife is likely to string me up If I don't get it sorted. Bikes are Ecolux Uk Tornado Electric Bicycles.
