  1. Thanks for that, that sounds a better option, I might start another thread to see what I need to do it, and to find out how to do it.
  2. Thanks for that, that one linked is sold, do they only come with the guard or can you buy the chainring separately.
  3. Hi, I need to fit a new drive train to my Vulcan, I think I have the correct rear cassette and chain, links below, but I`m unsure about the chainring to get, specs say its a Suntour – Double Chain Guard – 42T – Alloy but when I do a search for that it brings up loads of options. Can anyone help me source the correct parts for it, or other options. I got the info for parts I need from here https://bestbikeselect.com/carrera-vulcan-e-electric-mountain-bike-review/#google_vignette Thanks, Johnny. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cassette-Speed-Cs-HG200-36-Teeth/dp/B071KF8F8J https://www.amazon.co.uk/KMC-Unisexs-Chain-Grey-Link/dp/B07J38GX7L/ref=pd_bxgy_img_sccl_1/259-6334451-9421219?pd_rd_w=pde9I&content-id=amzn1.sym.40f919ed-e530-4b1a-8d7e-39de6587208d&pf_rd_p=40f919ed-e530-4b1a-8d7e-39de6587208d&pf_rd_r=1M09T4JG61C5E74HKCQ5&pd_rd_wg=aDLr0&pd_rd_r=988fa75e-93e5-4101-8982-5a0f963c72e0&pd_rd_i=B07J38GX7L&th=1
  4. Another though I had was just buying a new controller for the vulcan, that would probably give it more grunt.
  5. Thanks for that, and the recommendation. I`ll have a look on there
  6. Hi, Well both bikes I`ve had were great, I`m not into downhill stuff, just off road tracks and roads, around 30-40 miles range, price up to £2000. the biggest problem is finding one in stock. The main reason I went to halfords is getting it fixed if it goes wrong, and boy did I need it. I`ve even been thinking about buying a bike and converting it again, the cyclotricity one has been great, I still have it, but it`s getting like myself, passed it`s best.
  7. I converted a Carrera Vengeance about 4 years ago with a Cyclotricity Front Hub 250W 36v and a 15Ah battery which has been a great bike for me. I bought a Carrera Vulcan to replace my old one, what a disappointment, its packed up now for the second time and Halfords say they have been waiting 2 months for controllers and it could be another 2 months for a replacement controller to come. I have asked for a refund and I`m just waiting word back from them. So I`m looking for suggestions for a replacement bike, hopefully a better one than the Vulcan. Cheers, Johnny.
  8. Just an update, my Vulcan has been into Halfords and they said the Torque Sensor was faulty and they ordered a new one which was fitted on Friday past. It seems to be running a lot better now, just lacking a bit of oomph compared to my Vengeance conversion, but hey, I can work on that when I get a bit of time to look at the torque springs in the crank.
  9. Hope you get it fixed, keep it running for your mate, I got a load of fishing gear under the same circumstances, at my age cycling keeps me sane and reasonable fit.
  10. I forgot to say, apart from that, the Vulcan is great spec for the price, I`m really pleased with it.
  11. Thanks again for the links, really interesting stuff, I`ll probably go for the new controller and fit a cadence sensor eventually, but for now I`ll wait to see what halfords say then go with the spring removal on the torque sensor to see what difference that makes, the cadence sensor on my Cyclotricity kit has worked flawlessly for the last 4 years, in fact I`ve never had a problem with the kit since I fitted it, it seems a better idea than the torque sensor, but thats maybe because of what I`ve been use to. Thanks again, you`ve been a great help.
  12. What I mean is, I couldn`t find them, so thank you for finding them and posting the links LOL
  13. Thanks for those links bud, I couldn't find them, I popped in past halfords and their gonna check it out tomorow, but I'm not hopeful, I'll let you know how it goes, I'll go read the threads.
  14. Thanks for that, I`ll have a look back at that thread, I was going to ask at halfords but thought I`d better ask on the forum first. I had a look at the youtube reviews on a 2020 model to see how the assist level behaves and there is no pulsing showing while pedalling below 15.5mph.
  15. I converted a Carrera Vengeance about 4 years ago with a Cyclotricity Front Hub 250W 36v and a 15Ah battery which has been a great bike for me. I`ve done about 4500 miles on it and the battery and motor is still good but the forks ect are starting to fail so I bought a Carrera Vulcan, what a disappointment, its like going back to a manual bike again, I could get used to the not having 18.5mph and not having a throttle but it couldn`t pull my socks off. No matter what setting I have it in the motor seems to pulse on and off, and the assist level indicator keeps jumping from zero to about 3/4 when I`m pedalling, is this normal on the Vulcan or have I bought a duffer.
  16. Hi, Can anyone tell me the height of an 18" Carrera Vulcan at highest point of the handle bars, I`m thinking of buying one, but I store it in my camper van and the height of the door is quite low. Thanks, Johnny
  17. I`ve had mine about 2 years now, works perfectly for me, my only gripe was the blue soft rubber grips in the clamp jaws kept coming off, but a couple of tiewraps sorted that out, it wouldn`t fair much in a pro workshop but for home use its great.
  18. Has Leicester just been relocated, ebay says Doesn't post to United Kingdom LOL
  19. I fancy one of these babys http://www.ubcobikes.com/?utm_source=EarthCruiser%20x%20UBCO%20Bikes&utm_campaign=UBCO%20Email%20&utm_medium=email
  20. I charge mine off of the motorhome pure sine wave inverter, never had any problems.
  21. Cheers for that, mine are 26" but I`ll go for the 2.1 too as I`m probably 75% road and try to avoid deep mud.
  22. Hi, I ride a mix of road a some off road tracks, forrest ect. On my Carrera Vengeance I had the the original Kenda MTB tyres, but for better rolling resistance I fitted Conti Travel Contacts, I found the Conti`s a bit hard on the bum and slippy on tracks, so I fitted my Kendas back on again, they are getting past it now and I was thinking of fitting Schwalbe Marathon Plus, these ones, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/schwalbe-marathon-plus-mtb-tyre-smartguard/rp-prod143787?gs=1&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Chain%20Reaction-UK-PLA-PLA-All-DT-SE-Shopping%20QLB%20Product%20Desktop&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mkwid%7CsH88kwchp_dc%7Cpcrid%7C161846649820%7Cpkw%7C%7Cpmt%7C%7Cprd%7C520757UK They look like they a good all rounder, any body use these and are there better prices around.
  23. It might be worth looking at a Sterling Power 120 Amp Battery to Battery charger, I have one of these in my motorhome, 4X 110 Ah batteries and a 2KW inverter, I`m never without power, I might not need as much as me and get away with a smaller Battery 2 Battery charger and inverter to suit your batteries. Heres mine https://goo.gl/photos/SRjfMBNbY1Ek1Whu9
  24. My camper van is also a Renault Master, and has the 150amp alternator, the problem with them is, when the alternator sees the engine battery reach 12.8 to13v, the regulator drops the charge back to a trickle 5 to 10 amps, and takes forever to charge them, the setup is designed to power everthing on a journey between campsites where you can hookup to mains, I seldom use campsites, so I have fitted a Sterling 120amp Batter to Battery charger, it draws power from the alternator and boosts it to 120amps, which charges my 550Amh batteries very quickly and the batteries run my 2KW pure sine wave inverter, the inverter also runs tv, sky box, toaster, microwave, laptop ect, solar power charging is fine when its sunny, but the Battery to Battery charger is a good backup and reliable, a 45 min drive will re-charge my batteries.
