  1. Thanks for the response. Are D Locks big enough to lock the bike to an object, or are they mainly used to look the frame and wheel together?
  2. recently bought an XDuro. Love the bike but the saddle is not too comfy. What nice comfy saddle do people recommend for a slightly overweight 40 something with a bad back? Is it worth buying a Brooks? And if so which one? Cheers peeps
  3. Blimey...we're currently storing our new bikes in the spare room, but I never thought about liking them. To be honest I only have a cheap lock when leaving at work, although we are in a fairly low crime area and the bikes are out of sight. Which locks, chain or D, do people recommend, that's not to onerous to carry on your bike?
  4. I thought about it, but only just bought my bike and it looked little or an event for those looking to buy. I wonder if there are accessories trade stands, or things going on for those with bikes already?
  5. The shop I bought my bike from said that internal components were upgraded on motors that were being sold to countries with less strict or bow speed restriction. They had one customer that bought a bosh crank driven motor who restricted it. The motor failed within 3 weeks and Bosch refused to replace or repair. Don't know if any of that is true, but can see what the shop would gain by talking me out of adding a dongle, or such like.
  6. Good point well put. I guess there's no comeback on second hand bikes sold privately. Cheers all
  7. The 2015 bike is reportedly sold, so that's the decision made
  8. I was wondering how it would affect the recorded mileage. Both bikes are being sold privately. They both look to be in very good condition. The 2016 SL was used for commuting, so may have ridden in the wet. But it has just been serviced, including a new chain.
  9. This does seem very harsh. I have no experience of bikes, just ass Mrs it was the same as a car and that the manufacturers warranty was good until the end of the period, regardless of ownership. Lots of adverts refer to remainder of warranty. I guess we have a get out clause if we change our mind. Maybe we should look to buy a new cheaper bike?
  10. I'm surprised if Haibike can extinguish all statutory liability on a 6 month old bike, regardless of change of ownership. But I will bow to superior knowledge.
  11. Are you sure? According to the website the statutory warranty is for 2 years on the entire bike. However, it does say that the additional frame warranty of 5 years is only available to the original purchaser.
  12. were looking at getting a second bike for my wife and have 2 options available; either a 2016 SDuro Hardseven SL with 1600 miles, or an 2015 RC with only 300 miles. The 2015 model is around £300 more, and has been unrestricted by relocating the speed sensor, so presumably avoiding any warranty. The RC does appear to have better components, but weee there other advances with the 2016 technology? Should I avoid a bike where the warranty may be void? Anything else to consider?
  13. Presumably this is much less sophisticated as well? I understand that it is illegal, but wondered why buy a dongle if this is essentially doing the same.
  14. apologies if this has been done to death, but I was looking at a used Haibike SDuro which had been derestricted by relocating the speed sensor to the crank. I know you can get dongles to derestric the motor, but not this, presumably cheaper, mod. Would this be detectable for warranty purposes?
  15. Might just do that...if I can find a good 2nd hand one
  16. Already looking Second hand this time as the second bike won't get used much
  17. Thanks, that's a really helpful reply. I was expecting much further from a charge, but I've quickly come to realise that the terrain and setting has a hugh difference to what mileage you can expect.
  18. Yeah, it was used as a commuter...80 miles a week. It has also just been serviced. Just need to decide if the money is good
  19. after recently purchasing an EBike, in thinking I might need another for my wife so that we can go off together. I can't justify spending new bike money, so thought I would second hand. I'll look to buy one that is still in warranty, but wondered what is considered to be high mileage? I was looking at one with a Yamaha motor, 6 months old with 2000 miles. Does that seem high?
  20. Well, I've collected my bike, and it's was the first time I have seen the XDuro in the flesh. I was expecting it to look the same as the SDuro, but with slight colour changes, but how wrong I was. The integration with the Bosch motor has been designed to perfection. The frame is nicely moulded to the battery, not just bolted on top. I'm well pleased. With regards to the sizing, yes, I think for me the 50cm would have been better, but there is enough saddle adjustment to compensate. The 45cm also suits my daughter and wife better, so I think the whole family will be able to enjoy it.
  21. Has anyone bought the SDuro hardseven 5.5? It's the same price as the XDuro 4.0 but has the bigger battery and according to the Haibike numbering system is a higher spec bike
  22. I really wanted the Bosch cx motor, but that was a stretch too far.
  23. To be honest, this is all a bit over my head. I thought buying a bike a bike would be easy
  24. Hmm...I actually tried the Bosch on a Gepida Ruga, but for £200 extra decided I'd rather go with the more well known Haibike. I felt the SDuro 4 just didn't have the quality, so "upgraded" to the Bosch. In hindsight I could have got the SDuro 5.5 with the same components. I think the Yamaha vs Bosch argument will continue to run...
  25. The one in the shop was the SDuro with Yamaha motor and cheaper components. I've gone for the XDuro with Bosch motor and slightly better components, which is £400 more.
