Can anyone point me in the direction unlock a oxygen s cross mk11 mtb
Did you manage to fit the thumb throttle ok & also manage to speed things up a bit via the LCD unit. Going to order an Oxygen MTB MK II probably next week, because of me arthritic creaky knees I will need a throttle to help get me going, still love getting out on a bike but the years of wear & tear on my knees is making it difficult. Not that bothered about making it go faster as I like to soak up the countryside while out but the throttle is pretty essential for me particularly on a hill or slope starting off. I know throttle is thumb but is a twist type available does anyone know ?

What electric mountain bike.
Would any suspension forks fit with these chunky tyres or do they need to be something specific. I guess I would also need to get some that were the correct length of stalk to go through the frame as well. I do like the look of the bike & with suspension front forks I could be happy as long as the motor has a bit more torque than my Pro Rider for going off road.

What electric mountain bike.
That Rio MTB looks very nice, the Rio FB looks like its meant to go off road, I know it has fat tyres but no front suspension, do the tyres really dampen the lumps & bumps like front suspension.

Thats useful to know, whats it like for torque ? I want 15.5 MPH but off road I guess torque on grass & dirt track would need to be better than my Pro Rider What about the 905, can that have a throttle fitted without to much of a problem.

What electric mountain bike.
I have looked around at several bikes & a couple that seem to stand out because they are not too expensive are the Woosh big bear or Wisper 905 SE, the 905 Torque sounds better for off road but the price is a bit more than I really want to pay given its just a weekend thing. Swaying more to the 905 as reviews are pretty good. Not sure if if I can be interested to add a kit to my Aggressor, the kit plus battery would probably be more than a complete off the peg bike. Can the Big Bear or 905 have a throttle conversion done as although I don't mind peddling I do like the throttle option.

What electric mountain bike.
I am happy with the 15.5 mph with a 250w motor as I will go on the road to get to the places I want to go off road so want it to be legal, I don't want speed just maybe a bit more torque to get me along in the dirt & grass.

What electric mountain bike.
I do have a nice GT Aggressor mountain bike, disc brakes/Shimano gears/heat treated alloy frame, had it a few years & cost me close to £500 when I bought it, still immaculate condition, are you saying that I can fit this kit onto the bike then get a battery & it will be an electric bike, does the kit have a throttle & would it be powerful enough for my mountain bike off road that I want or will the power be the same as my pro rider bike. Sounds like a good idea if it will fit my bike. Is it reliable ?

What electric mountain bike.
I have the Pro-Rider E Tourer bike which I bought new, very pleased with it indeed. I do go off road mostly on the bike & am thinking an electric mountain bike would be a nice addition as would probably handle the terrain better. Looking for some recommendations, I would probably buy new & if I do I would want to have the throttle facility so it must be up-datable to have a throttle fitted. Not spending loads of money either as I am not using it in any sort of competitive situation. Just looking for value for money.

Whats the difference.
2017 fox fork costs as much as the hole bike tho And what do they do that cheap forks don't, yes finish may be better & more adjustable & the internal seals etc more durable but at the end of the day they just take the lumps out of the road as any suspension forks do. I can see why a 600cc motorbike costs so much, have owned many bikes in my life & they are very high tech indeed but a 15 mph electric bike with a little electric motor & battery along with a few basic controls, I just don't get it.

Whats the difference.
Good reply & exactly my thoughts, someone is making a lot of money for sure. Looking at some of the more expensive bikes that cost double or more what I paid for my Pro Rider I can't help thinking that most of the parts look very much the same as on my humble/cheap bike.
-
Whats the difference.
But what does it do that my cheap bike does not. 10K for a bike mmm I would rather buy myself a nice car or motorbike. Sounds an awful lot to go around at 15mph for 60 or 70 miles before the battery goes.

Whats the difference.
I am sure that there are more knowledgeable people out there than I am regarding electric bikes so would like to ask this question. I have recently bought a Pro-Rider electric bike, I am very pleased with it. Its great fun, longest I have been is around 15 miles without pedaling just using the throttle only with just the occasional peddle on the hilly areas to help it along.. My question is that my Pro-Rider is probably classed as an entry level electric bike, the cost was around 6 to 700 pounds new. What does an electric bike do extra that would maybe cost 2 or 3 times that amount ? Does the higher cost make it go faster (NO) that would be illegal for the road. Does the higher cost make it go further on its given battery. (would not think so) my cheap bike & a more expensive model would probably go the same distance on the same AH battery as both use a 250w motor. Is it a case of diminishing returns similar to Hi-Fi, you get a great sound from a £500 system but not 4 times better on a £2000 system. I like my bike a lot but have thought that maybe a mountain/offroad bike would be useful as love going down the river walks & along the lake paths that are in my area, of course I have to ride on the road to get there so no big motors at all as want to stay legal. I like the look of the Oxygen off road bike but if its no better in anyway than my Pro-Rider what would be the point of buying one.

Seat Problem
I removed the screw cap on the bottom of the saddle post, there was a rubber buffer type thing along with the spring inside. I cut a couple of the segments from the rubber buffer which had the effect of lowering the seat by about an inch as the suspension went down into the saddle post by what I had cut off. Still have suspension seat post, its just a shorter travel. I think that electric bikes have a weight maximum of around 18 stone, I guess you need the seat post that length of travel for that weight, my mrs only 10 stone so it will travel shorter for her weight so don't think suspension is compromised. She tried it out & its perfect for her now, she just needed that inch shorter. Its an easy fix to get the saddle down lower.
-
Seat Problem
I think a short travel seat post may take an inch off the height & I rekon I could saw 3/4 off the top of the frame so seat post dropped into frame a bit more ( a bit dubious ) & that would be perfect for her. Alternatively I could just get a non suspension seat post & that would do it without having to saw the frame. I don't think that the suspension seat post takes away that much anyway.

Seat Problem
My wife has the Pro Rider Wayfarer with 20 inch wheels, I bought this for her as she is not very tall & has problems touching the ground. Its on its lowest setting with the suspension seat post but another inch or two lower would help her quite a bit, anyone have any ideas how to drop it a tad lower. Is cutting an inch off the top of the frame that holds the seat a wise thing to do ? I don't like the idea but if it helps her be a little more comfortable then it may be an option. I am open to ideas if anyone can help.

Pro Rider E Tourer bike.
Hi Bob, yes you are correct that the suppliers have the unrestricted controllers. I called them & they said that they will supply me but to make sure I get the right one I would need to send a photo of my controller (unrestricted) I gave them my email but they never sent me there's so I could not get back to them with the picture etc. I really don't see their argument that it would be illegal to supply you, if you told them you would be using the bike on a private farm for getting about then there is no way selling you the controller is illegal, after all its just a part, asking them to fit it for you if you bought a new bike then maybe a little more difficult for them. Anyway Bob, I managed to find the factory that makes them in China, I spoke via email to a very nice lady called Maggie, she was so so helpful, replied within minutes to my questions, she sent me a wiring diagram spoke to her engineer regarding restrictions etc of which there are non. She was very willing to supply me with the part I wanted. I ordered 2 as 1 was for my E Tourer & 1 was for my wifes Wayfarer, they were $180 (about £138 at the time) for the 2 inc post insurance etc. The suppliers here in the UK wanted £100 each if they would have supplied them so I was on a winner by £62. What Maggie did was to place my order through Alibaba which is good as they monitor the order etc & if for any reason you are not happy with the quality or you don't receive them you can get your money back. You go to Alibaba register with them (a couple of questions password etc) & then you can view the order & pay. I did all that & received my controllers yesterday so around a week to 10 days to get them. There was VAT to pay which I did realise would be the case which came to £24 & a few pence so I am still £40 better off than I would have been getting from suppliers, ok warranty may be an issue if it was to go wrong after a few months but its not that much money nowadays is it. The controllers are identical to the ones fitted to the bike, same make same quality. Still have the 15.5 MPH restriction which I think is in the back wheel anyway but a throttle that in my opinion makes it easier & safer to ride. If you want Maggies details I will pm them to you. You may be lucky if you only get 1 controller in that the value is lower so will not attract the VAT/Import costs which would mean you got 1 for a little under £70. Anyway Bob let me know if you want to go down that route & I will send you the info you need.

Pro Rider E Tourer bike.
I have the E Tourer & my wife has the folding Wayfarer, both the same electronics, I bought 2 controllers & both bikes are now spot on, my wife loves it that she don't need to peddle if she don't want to. I personally think the bike is safer with throttle as you don't go zooming off when you start peddling, sometimes its too fast when in the park etc. You can go at what speed you want to suit the conditions.

Pro Rider E Tourer bike.
Well, I successfully managed to track down the unrestricted controllers in China. I emailed them & they were very helpful I now have my Pro-Rider unrestricted. Still only 15.5 MPH but the throttle goes to that now instead of the 4MPH. Different bike now.

Is this true.
Could not agree more mate. I just saw an Oxygen bike for sale, looked really nice, has a throttle as well. Would have bought it but after buying my new cheaper model bike it will have to wait a little while.

Still want a throttle tho.

How is it going to be enforced flecc, okay I am riding my bike on throttle only, policeman asks how is it you are riding throttle only as your bike looks almost new, well officer I really do take care of anything I have & I actually bought this in May 2017 at a boot sale, I asked the guy who was selling it how old it was as it looks new, he told me he purchased it in December 2015 never liked it after 1 ride so never rode it again & just kept it in the house under the stairs, I only ride it very occasionally clean it after every use & it lives in the house with me. Do you have a receipt for it to prove when you bought it, sorry no, I bought it from a car boot sale & they don't give receipts.

Looks like the only way to be sure of legally having a throttle on an electric bike is to get my old mountain bike converted, anyone know who can do this to a good standard or is it something I can easily do myself. I am an electrician & also fit bathrooms & kitchens & general house repairs so I am pretty practical. What is a good kit to buy including battery ?
-
Is this true.
I am not that knowledgeable about electric bikes as only been into them for a few weeks but all I am saying is that its ok to ride a pre 2016 electric bike & its also ok to ride an ordinary bike that you have converted to electric with a twist & go scenario, whats the difference to buying already made, why is there one law for one & another for someone else, its either legal or its not. UK should be encouraging green cycling no chucking things in the way to put people off.

Is this true.
You will never stop morons I'm afraid, there was a bunch of cyclists on ordinary bikes upsetting people along the river from me on Sunday. I get a bit fed up with being branded the same as them, because a few cause problems we all have to pay by being stopped from doing things we enjoy. The people that have no respect & cause trouble will not give a toss about legislation & will do what they want & not care about consequences if there are any. I don't agree with a cycle being called a motorbike as thats like saying a mobility scooter is a car (its got 4 wheels & steering & a throttle) , I have ridden many motorcycles over the years & they are an entirely different animal.
