Anyone know what happened to username d8veh?
Hi I sent a yamaha battery to user name "d8veh" (a well known popular poster on this forum) as he said he would try to fix the battery for me. However, after initial correspondence. I havent heard from him in months? I now see the account user has been deleted? Is he now under a new username? Many thanks

2018 Yamaha Electric Bike Updates at Interbike
Thanks soundwave. I have already sent one of the batteries to d8veh (Dave) on this forum, as he said he was happy to take a look for me. But I will certainly think about it depending on what the outcome is. Cheers

2018 Yamaha Electric Bike Updates at Interbike
Exactly Yes thanks soundwave. I realise it sounds like a silly question. That is exactly what I thought. But had a similar problem with two batteries. The second new battery just failed to work straight away. Guess that's what you get for a £300 battery. Should have paid the rediculous £850 from yamaha.

2018 Yamaha Electric Bike Updates at Interbike
Hi. I bought one too. Have you had any issues? Mine stopped working after two weeks and someone said it was something to do with it being blocked by the yamaha system?

Third party battery issue Yamaha
Hi, I did get a full refund and they said there was no need to return battery. So i have the batteries just sitting here. I would like to revive somehow but dont know how to do it. Either that or sell the samasung batteries inside, as i have close to 1000w of decent batteries. Very essy to get to. I have opened it up. Just star screws.

Third party battery issue Yamaha
Thanks for reply I dont have the larger yamaha display. Its only the very basic one as shown. This does run off the main battery. www.electricbikesales.co.uk/index.phproute=product/product&product_id=1626&search=Yamaha+display I looked after the battery well. No water damage, bumps or knocks. As mentioned, surely it is compatible as it worked for 2 weeks. So very strange for it to suddenly stop. Unless something wrong with the BMS? Do you think it might be worth sending battery for diagnostics and possible repair?

Third party battery issue Yamaha
Hello All, Sorry re-posting this as posted in the wrong forum. I have a Yamaha system haibike 2017 model. I decided to get a third party battery simlar to the one on the link. Look at this on eBayhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282586937404 My one works out to be about 500w, giving a little more range than my original yamaha battery. However, it was all going brilliantly for 2 weeks until it stopped working. The basic display (i dont have the larger yamaha display) on the ebike turns on for about 4 secs and then turns off. The battery indicator on the actual pack says full charge and nothing wrong with charger. My original battery on the bike works fine. The company actually sent me a new battery(returned from customer) to try, but exactly the same issue. They gave me a full refund but now stuck with 2 bricks. Is there any hope in salvaging these? The batteries inside are samsung, so decent brand. Please dont say i should have stuck with yamaha battery as the yamaha cost £850 for equivalent capacity, where as these were £300 each. So it was worth a try. Any ideas about what i can do with these? Resurection? Does yamaha ststem block third party battery? Although it did work for two weeks. Many thanks Kevin.

Grinding noise and feel - haibike sduro
Hi all, I have a haibaike sduro cross 4.0 2017. Yamaha motor. I have only had it about a month and use it most week days for commuting to work. On the way home from work Friday, i noticed it seemed to be a little harder to pedal and i had a strange clicking/metalic sound as i pushed down on the right pedal. When i turn the pedals with the motor off there appears to be a slight grinding/ whirring noise and im sure it seems more dificult to turn the crank. Do you think there could be somrthing wrong with the yamaha motor? Any advice would be appreciated KP

Battery.
Hi Im fairly new to the pedelec scene. Received my new bike at the beginning of last week. Haibike sduro cross 2017. Yamaha motor. Use it to commute to work everyday. About 34 mile round trip. Already racked up 250-300 miles on it. Fantastic bike. Im sure this may have been mentioned before - I thought i would see how much a 500w battery would be as i have 400w. Found that it is close to £850 for a yamaha battery! However, i managed to find a third party with samsung cells for only £299! On amazon, by a company called powergiant. Works out to be 468w battery. But really notice the difference in the battery percentage. So far so good and charges in about the same time as the 400w. On a different note, what i did notice on the way home today is the noise level of my motor. Im sure it seems to be getting louder? Maybe im listening out for it more, but im almost certain its louder than the first week i had it? Anyone else notice the same thing eith their yamaha mid drive?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
Sorry soundwave. Strange, it missed out some of my text? The issue is, I like the sound of being able to plug something in to derestrict and to remove in seconds simply by unplugging, but they will only do it if you buy a bike from them (which I havent). Also, I dont know what this site use to be able to plug and play so easily. Any ideas?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
The issue is, the ebike shop will only add the dongle if you buy the bike from them. Frustrating. See the following: "For the past few years we have been extremely successful with our exclusive Bosch tuning kits that derestrict the electric bike so that you can reach assisted speeds of over 15mph. We can now use similar technology on our new Yamaha eBikes arriving shortly. These kits work in a similar way but plumb in differently. Not something you have to worry about as we do the hard work for you for free! How does it work? Basically the Yamaha speed tuning dongles trick the system into thinking its going half as fast as it actually is. This allows you the rider to pedal past the 15mph barrier and reach speeds up to 30mph assisted. Although a simple format, the technology behind it is a little more complicated! But you need not worry. How do you use it? All you have to do is plug it in when you want the bike derestricted. We plumb the wiring kit into the Yamaha bike before it leaves the workshop. Can you revert it back to normal? Yes of course, just unplug it. The cable kit remains but the bike reverts back to normal. When you want it to go faster just plug it back in. Can I order the Yamaha Tuning Kit on its own? Yes you can, however it will not be dispatched. It has to be fitted by our workshop technicians exclusively on our own eBikes. Remember you can unplug it, so to save a journey you could have it fitted from new, but unplug it for your first few rides. Then plug it in when you are comfortable with how the eBike performs". Any ideas?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
I went for the haibike in the end. Managed to get it for £1890 with ebikes direct. (originally £2100. So pretty good price. I will derestrict myself though. Looks pretty easy on youtube

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
That does sound temping. Is it really easy to switch between road legal and derestricted at a flick of a button so to speak? I have heard the police are clamping down in certain areas and have a means to check your bike?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
So on that basis would you choose the haibike?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
Hmmm. Very interesting! That does make a difference (if I decided to do that). (Off road /private land of course). Is it easy to do? Is it just a case of moving the sensor and magnet to the pedals instead of the wheel? Or is there another way I can easily switch between the two? On/off switch. Out of interest, which bike would you choose? The giant or the haibike?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
Thanks. Can you recommend any bikes of a similar price with these motors?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
But what are your reasons to ignore please? Is the yamaha just as good? Does it not cause a lot more wear and crunching?

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?
Hello all, I am buying a new bike and after much deliberation about a woosh rio mountain bike and an oxygen MTB, I have decided to up my budget from £1500 to £2500ish and likely go for one of the following https://www.evanscycles.com/haibike-sduro-cross-4-0-2017-electric-hybrid-bike-EV299278 http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/giant-bikes/road_e-2_2016.html What do you guys think? I will be mostly commuting to work and back every day on roads, close to 40 miles round trip. I do have a concern with the Yamaha motor which is on both bikes though, as it doesn't have shift sensing and can wear the gears/chain However, the giant bike has Giant PedalPlus 4-sensor technology, which I think is similar to the bosch shift sensing and turns down the power slightly when changing gear. Correct me if I'm wrong on this? Any help or suggestions with other bikes would be greatly appreciated. many thanks

Hoping for advice.
Thank you all for your advice. I have decided to up my budget and likely go for one of the following: What do you guys think? https://www.evanscycles.com/haibike-sduro-cross-4-0-2017-electric-hybrid-bike-EV299278 http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/giant-bikes/road_e-2_2016.html Interestingly I went in Freeborn in Horsham yesterday. Thanks for the recommendation. Great shop and the guy in the shop very knowledgeable, but he had never heard of Haibike? I thought Haibike was a major player in the e-bike world?
