  1. Hi All, I've done some googling but can't find the answer.... I hope that someone can help. I am looking into the possibility of moving all of the bit from my current hard tail ebike to a full sus. Could I put my current Bosch motor in a frame designed for a Shimano motor? thanks Simon
  2. Should say that my bike has its replacement motor fitted today Fingers crossed I’ll give it a try out this weekend.
  3. Totally agree my weight won’t change depending on the bike I am riding I think the forces that the motor will be put under will be less on a full sus compared to a hardtail. When you are hammering down a rocky off road section you can feel a big difference in the feedback you get though through your feet.
  4. On technical bits when I’m stood up, most of my weight is going through the pedals and end up being supported by the bearings in the motor. My thought is that on a hardtail all of the forces is going through the motor without any adsorption (OK apart from the 2.8 tyres and a bit from the fork). On a full sus, these forces will be disapated by the rear suspension so the motor will be under less strain and load. So I’m expecting that bearings on the hardtails are given more grief will therefore wear the bearing surfaces sooner than would be the case on a full sus. Water would then attack these warn surfaces and form corrosion which will shorten the life of the bearing.
  5. I have resigned myself to my ebike having a 2 year lifespan. After that I can see me stripping it down for parts. Keeping some and flogging others. The eBike is great at getting me out when otherwise I wouldn’t be well enough to ride a proper bike but from my experience so far, they are a pain in the bum. The ebike is a great tool but I don’t like it as much as my other bikes.... If I was to roll back th clock 3 months I think I would have got a full sus as I think the hardtail is helping to kill bearings. I would have looked at the direct drive option from Shimano more closely too.
  6. I wish mine would last three months, lol
  7. Interesting thoughts, which make a lot of sense. I’ve killed a few BBs in my time but never in 7 rides I’m bracing myself for a pain in the ass with this bike.
  8. The Bosch system is great when it works it’s great. I’ve had two motors and both have died in a mater of weeks. So yep I’m very sceptical of the Bosch reliability. I do wonder if being in a hardtail is giving the motor more of a hard time than a full sus. Not that I’m a massively aggressive rider so I’m just guessing...
  9. Based on my experiences with my bike I can’t currently recommend the Bosch CX motor.
  10. The bike shop is talking to Bosch and the bike rep tomorrow and will see what they come up with. I have heard rumours they are rengineering the CX motor to make it more reliable. I can half see me killing old motors until they come out with the new one.
  11. If that is the case, I’m stuck with a £3k chocolate fire guard....
  12. Thanks for the reply, I wonder when the 2018s will be out.
  13. I have got a hardtail Bosch performance line CX ebike and I’ve had it for about 3 months. The bearings in the original motor died after a month. I had that replaced under warranty which was great. I think the replacement motor has just failed in a similar way. If I need a new motor ever 4-6 weeks it’s going the get boring real soon.... I went on one of those proper wet rides last weekend so wonder if that has anything to do with it or if the motor is taking a lot more battering than if it was in a full sus frame with it being a hardtail. Has anyone else had similar problems?
  14. I've seen some of them, so I'm not expecting it to be a quick job.
  15. I wonder if there is any upgrade to the controller as part the firmware upgrade. I normally ride with a Garmin 810, that does mapping etc... and is a fairly big computer. if I'm not careful the bike will look like a branch of Dixons.
