Strange error message, so bike wont work, anyone help.
Solved. The bike shop suggested I required a new Boss controller. I had a little wiggle on the cables to the controller and the message would disappear then reappear and set the wheel spinning at full speed. Made me think there was a loose connection somewhere, opened it up and a black wire to ground had broken off inside, re-soldered it on and made the cables more secure and all now seems ok. Relieved to say the least. Thought I'd post the solution in case anyone else has something similar.

Strange error message, so bike wont work, anyone help.
My conversion kit has decided to go wrong and I'm a bit stumped. I get the message come up on the display as shown below, on the journey home last night although seemingly running fine it did start to beep (this appeared to happen after I throttled whilst going at speed downhill) and as I got in the motor kicked in at full speed without me using the throttle. It can be quite difficult to even get the display to turn on and it always displays the error, if I unplug the throttle and put it back together the wheel just spins at full speed until I shut it down, anyone got any ideas, it's a Boss system connected to a Sparticle front wheel.

LCD display not working as it should
I have changed it back to 700c as I guess that is what it should be set at, maybe it running worse was my imagination. The pictures below show the other components, the Boss controller and a 14 ah Samsung battery (according to the shop) Don't suppose it will help greatly but you never know.

LCD display not working as it should
The setting was set to 26", changed to 700c still gave very strange readings and didn't seem to run as well as before, so I've changed it back. Guess it just isn't suited to the Sparticle wheel. Shame like it when everything works as it should.

Thanks. Have found instructions. Can only hope it is the wheel size set wrong, it is the only thing that seems to be relevant.

LCD display not working as it should
I'm looking for a little advice, I have purchased a conversion kit from eBay and fitted, all seems well but for one slightly annoying problem. It would seem that the kit is Boss based but connected to a Sparticle front wheel, it was sold and fitted like this to the original owner, the problem is the display which is Boss and seems to have a lot of features, doesn't work correctly, the speed either doesn't register at all or when it does it is far faster than it should be. This means that the speedo, odo, average speed, trip etc are a waste of time, I have spoken with the shop it was purchased from and he says they were let down by the suppliers with mods that would have fixed these issues. This is no deal breaker but it would be nice to have it working right as at present it is a largish display for battery power, time, temp and amount of power being used. Any thoughts as to what I could do, I suspect nothing as the shop would know, maybe sell the current wheel and fit a compatible one (whatever that may be)? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Looking to convert
Added a fair bit of weight to mine I have to say, never run out of power yet but I wouldn't fancy going up hill on it now without assistance. My kit was second hand and came with a rear carrier bag but I would assume you could get a carrier bag for the frame to put it in if you wanted, takes up a fair bit of space with the battery and controller in there. The battery on mine is 14a/h and travelling from Stoke Holy Cross to Hall Road (I'm sure you know this as your local) to work and back twice, about 16 miles, left 2 bars out of 5 on the battery gauge (how accurate that is, is questionable), I was using the throttle a fair bit and not changing gear very much, must learn to put in more effort.

Looking to convert
Hi From another Norwich convert. I would have to say go for it, fitted mine on a few weeks back and it makes a world of difference, can be a bit too easy sometimes. Picked my set up off eBay, a proper kit that had been fitted to tow a child trailer but the kids didn't like it so he sold it off, cost £190.00 for everything except the rack, I think it was a good deal. It only took about 45 minutes to fit it all myself, no major problems and I'm no bike mechanic. With regard to battery life, I sort advice from the shop who originally fitted it and was advised to recharge each evening after use, even though I may have only gone about 10 miles on it. This surprised me somewhat but he assures me it was the right thing to do and would do no harm at all to the battery, I guess over the years these batteries have changed a lot and it's what you would do with an electric car, so guess it makes sense. So unless you are clocking up serious miles each day you shouldn't have any real issues. If you are local to Stoke Holy Cross you are welcome to have a go on mine to see what you think.

Hi from a convert
Hi Cheers for reply. Will keep an eye on the adds see what comes up. 5'10" and about 15 stone, tend to avoid scales, never tell me anything good so may be more than I think. Cirrus is more of a hybrid than mountain bike I thought. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Hi from a convert
Recently converted a 2015 Specialized Cirrus with a Sparticle front wheel kit. Hadn't ridden for years, so picked up a slightly tatty Cirrus off gumtree, confirmed how unfit I am, so rather than stick it in the garage I picked up a kit off E-bay (originally supplied by the Electric Transport shop in York). Have now fitted it all on and have started using it to commute to work (only 8 miles a day but better than nothing I guess). Kit is a Sparticle 250w front wheel with a Boss controller and a large L-ion battery with a 36v charger, that all goes in a bag on the back, just runs from a twist throttle that I have to force myself not to use to much. Can now enjoy going out with mates who have been commuting for years without being left in their wake. Can only say if you have never tried one of these and are considering it, go try one, I don't think you will regret it. One question, I am so impressed with my home made effort that I have been considering if I should purchase a proper electric bike, not stupid money just a second hand Giant or Carrera etc any thoughts? One final thing the Electric Transport shop in York have been great, even though I didn't purchase the kit from them they have been more than happy to offer any help and advice, fantastic service so rarely seen now days.
