  1. I have a cube ltd pro HT, best bike I’ve ever owned until I wanted to convert it to an ebike. Chainstay issues, chain line issues, battery won’t fit in triangle. In the end I decided not to continue with it, I’m now converting a Giant NRS2 FS frame instead. I didn’t want to use my cube as a donor so quietly purchasing bits on the QT with out SWMBO realising LOL. And now befang have this new mid drive motor, with frames coming out of China that are bolt on for the befang, maybe when I’ve done my Giant, I may start saving for one
  2. Also check out Andy Kirby on YouTube he’s importing Chinese emtb with the new befang motor, looks a nice bit of kit, think he’d got frame battery and motor then you add your own forks, wheels etc
  3. Have a search on YouTube for vortex he’s just finishing off a home build ebike and will be putting it through the VOSA test, you have to put certified lights, indicators, brake levers, number plate etc
  4. Think I’ll have to visit a LBS and try out a fat bike Pete to see what the ride is like
  5. i own a cube hard tail and purchased a bbshd 100mm to convert it, anyway the cube isn’t viable and I’ll either sell it or use it for parts on another frame I’ve looked at Orange patriot frame and another member has had success with a felt compulsion 2 Any other recommendations?
  6. I’d have to go medium frame, can you put some photos up? Think I’ll post in the speed pedalec section to see
  7. Ok guys I’m now thinking, another frame. This cube is not going to be ideal and might be better off either selling it or use it for parts on another frame. So I’ve been looking at FS mtb frames the one that’s caught my eye is an orange patriot as the chainstay/swinging arm is situated further up and looks like the motor would fit Think I’d have to mount battery on top tube as a motorbike fuel tank type but would like to see a frame/bike before I take the plunge what are your thought guys ? I fancy the FS for the comfort factor. Wonder if anyone has done this?
  8. Could I maybe but a dent in the chain stay where the motor housing touches and where the bling ring would touch ? Without altering or moving the rest of the chainstay (if that makes sense) Sort of crushing the chainstay in those two positions, I work for the fireservice and was thinking the jaws of life tool which they use to cut car door pillars to get the roof off, they have smaller ones for other jobs, as long as it didn’t alter the chainstay angle. Or my other alternative is to find a suitable frame, and I’ve looked at soooo many I even emailed Giant to see if they sold frame only fs mtb, but they don’t and custom frames are out of my price range
  9. Just realised the photo is angled a bit, I’ve got about 1or 2mm clearance from motor and frame
  10. I think the Luna will bring it in a few more MM but I’ll still be struggling with the gears, (it is a 42 tooth bling copy ) Do I maybe customise my cassette with 2 large cogs on the outside for the time being just to be able to use the bike and look for a new / second hand frame that will take a 100 MM bbshd ?
  11. I’ll check later but I’m sure it’s 42 teeth and doesn’t bring the chain inboard enough
  12. My project has taken a back seat for a few months SWMBO wanted a new patio but trying in my few spare hours to do a few things on my bike Managed to get a bling ring but the chain alignment is still not very good so looking at the Luna Eclipse, any UK stockist ? Think I’ll also have to customise my cassette as Pete has mentioned using 3/4 gears
  13. Yes Pete, I put the mounting bracket as low as it would go, there’s not enough space to get the battery in and slide down. I’ve got some rivenuts which I ordered to give the bracket extra stability in the photo I’m actually holding the battery and bracket in place I think it would have been easier to buy an ebike
  14. So I bought a shark battery which fits in my triangle but it’s too tight to be able to take the battery off the mount. I.e. I can put mount on frame but can’t get the battery to fit on. Do I mount it on top bar like a motorbike fuel tank near the front or do I mount it on top bar close to seat post. Not ideal I know as it shifts the weight further up
  15. Would you recommend the Luna torque bar ?
  16. Yes it is needed bigger version to clear chainstay
  17. I’ve got a few 1mm spacers on the way, I just put it loosely togeather to see what I’d need to do, then had to quickly put away as SWMBO came home lol I’ll have to dismantle the front derailleur tomorrow and take off the gearleaver from my handlebar
  18. Pete or any one else, time for me to engage your help again SWMBO has gone out for a while so I’ve loosely put things in place. I had 2x10mm spacers and 2x5mm spacers made so 15mm each side I think my chainline is to far out with that combination but the lock ring with the groves in won’t go near the bottom bracket to dig in to it, I assume I tighten this up against the spacers?
  19. Done through PayPal a kind friend who I pay cash to transfers it to my paypal SWMBO is like Sherlock Holmes though, so have to make sure no evidence is left around
  20. Hi Pete ordered a battery today, text my brother a few days ago to see if he could recommend somewhere to get spacers he turned up at my house yesterday took measurements and dropped spacers off today ( didn’t even know he was back in uk) just need SWMBO to go on a shopping trip now so that I can start assembly(yes darling I picked this up from eBay for £50, bloody bargain)
  21. Another question guys, installs I've seen on utube there's a yellow capped connector which is for brake/gear sensor then a green one which I don't have on my kit See pic Left cable I assume is to controler Second for brake /gear sensor Third NO IDEA Far right is speed sensor
  22. I’ve looked and looked and looked again I think a triangle battery won’t fit in my triangle, a battery like daveboy might just squeeze in there, depending on the taper. My other option is a rear rack which may affect the ride as it would I imagine be similar to having a small child in a baby seat behind me or my other option would be to mount on top of the top tube What are your thoughts guys ?
  23. What battery do you have on there daveboy ?
