Faulty Battery Advice
I bought a kit from these guys https://www.aliexpress.com/item/12-Parts-Whole-Set-E-Bike-Refit-Kit-With36V-500W-Battery-LED-Display-Controller-Motor-Brake/32524917815.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.774a4c4dEmsx8L. Has been working fine until now. The bike has done 1000 miles and probably about 60 charge cycles. The battery charges fully, show 42V on full charge. However when riding now voltages fluctuates widely, power cuts out regulatory and sometimes the bike computer just shuts down. With a bit of experimentation with the throttle voltage is steady until I get above 2 Amps but above that starts fluctuating. Thought maybe I had a loose connection in my wiring somewhere but with this behaviour I am thinking its the battery. Is this the kind of problem you would get if the battery was dodgy. I have fairly limited electrical skills (I know how to use a multi-meter and could do some very cack handed soldering). Given that is it worth trying to fix. If not any recommendations for batteries in the UK. Thanks, David.

Lights
Hi, I have just kitted out my old steel racer with a conversion kit. Pretty happy with the results so far. The kit came with a wired front light that is pretty rubbish really. I like the idea of my light being integrated with the ebike. can anyone recommend any reasonably priced wired front lights. Thanks, David.

Controller with 9 PIN Julet/HIGO connections

Hi, I am looking to change my controller and display for my carrera crosscity. It currently has Santrol controller with a king meter 790 LED display and a 8Fun rear hub motor (I presume its HALL as it uses a 9 pin cable). The issue I have is that that the bike is currently wired for JULET/HIGO connectors. All the controllers I have found are SM plug type connections. I realise i could strip the connectors off and rewire but I would prefer not to. I have seen controllers with these type of connectors as part of complete kits but have not been able to find any for sale individually. Anyone got any suggestions. Thanks, David.- Carrera Crosscity E - LCD Display
Thanks D8veh, As a general rule do you need to get a controller and a display together. I am getting the feeling their is not much standardisation going on in this industry. I am trying to find a controller with DIN style outputs as all the wiring on the bike is done like this and is how the current controller is wired. I know they exist as I have seen them as part of kits on ebay. Can I even be sure pin outs will be the same even if I do find one.- Carrera Crosscity E - LCD Display
Hi I am new to Ebikes. I have recently bought the above bike for a work commute. It works great for that but now that I have got it I feel the need to tinker. I am thinking of doing my own conversion in the future but in the meantime I am trying to work out if I can upgrade the 790 LED controller it comes with to an LCD controller. Its pretty hard to work out if this is possible never mind what I should get. So the Crosscity consists of: 8Fun/Bafang rear hub. I think the speed sensor is incorporated into this. there is a model number on it but I can find no information on this on the internet. A King Meter 790 LED Controller. The website states this supports UART and analogue protocols. The motor controller is Tianjin Santrol WZKD3613KA. I can find literally no information regarding this. See pictures attached. Thanks for your help. - Controller with 9 PIN Julet/HIGO connections
