  1. Looks like a great option for a commute Matthew. In London, you should be able to get an easy 2 hour test ride for the money you are spending. Make sure the tyre pressure is right for your weight as this can affect comfort, ride and handling. You want a bit of give even if this hurts the range. Check the total carry weight for the bike. I've got a 2017 Charger and it's built for most things! Expect a long weight if not in stock! I was told 6 weeks - it took nearly twice that. Haggle!
  2. I thought money was not important. It takes me just over an hour for 19 miles, +/-10 mins with I think about 1000 ft elevation and some sections have no protection from the wind or I have to stop for big tractors. You can build and/or maintain your own if you have the time and the interest. I do the minimum maintenance, anything serious will be a job for the shop or my mate. Think about the road surface and how often you want to spend getting wheels trued. The grips on the bike will need changing for comfort ones.
  3. Riese and Muller (link below), dual battery, full suspension (if comfort is important to you) with rohloff gearing albeit index gears are excellent. I have a R&M Charger (£3k) and wish I had got this bike for a similar commute distance. Have you got somewhere safe to lock it up. Buy two locks recognised by an insurance company. Plan for 12 week delivery if not in stock. https://www.r-m.de/en-gb/ebik-e/delite/delite-touring/#18D01_05020709 .
  4. There's a R&M bike on the forum classifieds well worth a look. It just needs some mudguards and lights. I've spent quite a bit on the right gear to keep me warm and decent panniers. Do it - you won't regret it!
  5. Hi - you can try using these places as waypoints on Google Maps to find routes as long as they are car routes or some bridleways and select Cycle as mode of transport.
  6. FG has my number I think
  7. Hello SG (I presume!) - thanks - I shall get across to Stroud sometime and likewise - just use the plug around the back if no-one in! Using a full battery for the work round trip so need to get used to the lower motor assists! MR
  8. Starting to see some low mileage second hand bosch/shimano eMTB bikes for similar or less money in bike shops. Take one with a 3-month warranty, if they'll offer it.
  9. Hello, I bought my first e-bike for a number of reasons but mainly for commuting into Gloucester when I can but without feeling like a needed a kip when I got there or home! I'm lucky to have nearly all my 19 mile commute along some pretty quiet B and single passing point roads. I'm interested in using trains to get that bit further and perhaps some camping. A list of trusted charging and lock-up resources would be useful. Perhaps bike shops need to get a scheme going. I'll still use my MTB for single track as my e-bike is just not nimble and fun enough. Cheers, Mark
