Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive
Ha-haha You think that police so stupid?! If you remove the screen then your bike will be confiscated with no time and then "through checked*. Maybe you will get it back in few weeks time with no issues , maybe you'll have to go to court to prove your innocence. This is not what you want to happen to you, right?

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive
One is holding back wheel of the ground, another rotate the pedals by hands and checking the speedometer. I would love to see you trying to explain to them why they can hear motor spinning when they reach 15.5mph when motor has to switch off even that it was programmed to be strictly legal. On 30th of January 2025 on the junction of Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue there was big police opp to "crack down on illegal ebikes" where about 40 ebikes were confiscated and mine was one of them. 6 points on my driving licence and £700 fine.

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive
Yes the do exactly like that here in the UK no matter how stupid they look and how much police time they waste by that instead of doing something more useful. They check speed on the motor display. One is operating and another lifting up the back wheel. First they check the throttle if you have one so it's not powering the motor to more then 3.7 mph without pedaling. That's how my last bike was confiscated with heavy fine and 6 points on my driving licence. Then they check motor wattage and maximum speed by turning the pedals by hands. The prospect of lowering maximum speed under 15mph is not the option because there is no point of having electric bike with all that extra weight when any other cyclists on the regular bike takes over you? I heard that by using EggRider v2 you can set the motor in the way that it's only possible to turn on off road unrestricted mode on only by the app. And every time when you turn off the display it goes back to the road, restricted mode. Any info about that?

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive
I've tried your settings with exactly the same result - after 15mph motor slows down considerably but still spinning and you can hear it working. This might be a problem to explain that to police when they'll stop your and check maximum speed by lifting back wheel. So war I couldn't find any solution to stop motor spinning exactly at 15mph.

I have exactly the same issue. Have you managed to find a way around it? I find it hard to explain to police why the motor is still running when it passes 15mph maximum speed limit.

TSDZ2 On a single speed
I have to warn you about bad quality of steel they use to produce axles for Sram Automatix hubs. I already had this setup with Sram Automatix disc hub with 16T sprocket and 42T stock chainring. After about 2 months of use while I was cycling the axle of the Automatix broke literally in half inside the hub. It sounded like a shot. I wasn't even speeding at that moment so I managed to stop without falling down. Since then I use only Shimano Nexus 3 hub with 18T dished sprocket and 50T flat chainring .

Replacement TSDZ2 chainring
It's good enough about 1-2 mm difference. I use bmx chain with it without any problems. The only thing you have to take care when you install that sprocket is do it as Sheldon Brown says: "After re-installing the sprocket, it is a good idea to seat the circlip by going around it and tapping it lightly with a hammer and punch. " Otherwise the circlip can pop out because of dished sprocket and much bigger side force. I personally use Sram circlip. I found them a bit stiffer.

Replacement TSDZ2 chainring
I couldn't find any dished chainring other than stock 42t chainring which come with the motor. Even those who sell different size chainrings for TSDZ2 on Aliexpress for around £20 actually sell standard flat 110bcd chainrings. Anyway I think that TSDZ2 with single speed is not the best combination possible because if you want to go fast with small sprocket on the back wheel you'll have to put a lot of stress on the motor from the start. I personally have TSDZ2 setup with 50t flat chainring: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/chainrings/compact-chainring-steel-110mm-bcd-5-arm-silver-50t/ And Shimano Nexus 3 speed hub with 18t 10mm offset sprocket : http://www.forgecustomcycles.com/custom-build-your-own-electric-motorised-bikes/product/62-offset-sprocket-18t-10mm/category_pathway-12/related_product-519.html?limitstart=168 I found this combination is the best possible for single speed bike frame
