  1. I’m in the process of rebuilding my gravel bike it’s a Canondale Caadx with hydraulic disc brakes. Thinking of a midrive system. Has anyone converted such a bike.
  2. Hi having built my first ebike using the bbs01b motor and using it faultlessly for more than 18 months I’m thinking of building Another bike with a 48v system. It’s going to built round an old mountain bike 26” wheel. Are there any better motors on the market right now.
  3. That's very interesting Frank. Did you encounter any problems or was the controller a straight swap..what's the main improvement in doing this ..
  4. Nice to see your still messing with different systems mate..I'm still running my bbs01 it gets used twice a week and has been very reliable..I've upped the workload for the motor and done away with the throttle. Still getting good milage out of that Chinese battery 34 mile...I'm looking at another unit for my old mountain bike.. Might try in wheel motor..
  5. Gotta do like I do and build ya own...it's not that difficult..plenty of info on the web. You need a set of old forks with a slide attachment for truing them up.i need a 46 tooth bling I think..that's what's on it.
  6. HI Pete yer I've sorted it with some nail varnish.resoldered the wire I broke ..it's one of those cheap bafang magnet jobs..but now it's all sealed up should be ok. Well hopefully.. Bikes been working great..apart from I need to get a bling ring ..the old chain ring is a bit worn..
  7. Ok so I have striped the throttle down...not a lot to it..and the only thing that can short if it gets wet is the sensor..yes I've managed to pull one of the wires off..a bit of soldering needed there I think..but as far as I can see if the sensor connections are well waterproofed and the plug the other end is well sealed this throttle shouldn't give a problem if it get a wet...
  8. Hi Russ as I'm not using this I'm going to open this up and have a look..nothing ventured nothing gained.. If it's do able I will post it up..
  9. Thanks Tommie I've not had any problems with it but I have herd people say they are crap..certainly on the waterproof side..I didn't want to fit a twist type as I don't use it that often..but I don't think there's a way to make this waterproof and I certainly don't want it shorting out what with all the rain with been having.
  10. Hi it's been a while since I have posted. I.e. Been too busy enjoying my Ebike..anyway my bbs01b system with its Chinese 15ah battery has been faultless apart from me worrying about how waterproof this throttle switch is..has anyone had one of these apart and is there a good way to waterproof it..bike works perfect without it but sometimes it's nice to have..
  11. Make room mate for another project..lol..think I need to purchase a decent battery mine has started going south already..
  12. What motor you going to fit in it..
  13. Only just realized this is a normal bike with a trike convertion...weird...been out this morning and done 26mile that's about the best I can get from my setup..could be Chinese battery don't like it cold..lol
  14. Yer that pretty mad...not too sure if it would cope with real off-road some tracks are really narrow..but does stop the drivers getting too close on the road..sorry mate didn't realize you had another wheel..but all that said and done really good...
  15. Mate you have defo lost the plot lol..I'm thinking of building or should I say rebuilding my old road bike with a good system..
  16. Thanks for the fast replys. I'm going to give it a run tommorow and looking at the weather it's going tobe wet. I was thinking of removing the throttle tobe honest I very rarely use it. I much prefer just using assisted ..is there any problems I may encounter if I remove it.
  17. Hi people As the heading says how waterproof is it. Well as the weather starts to rain and the evenings draw in..I want to go cycling..But and here's the but..are they waterproofed enough for general riding I don't mean off-roading but maybe a few muddy paths..I'm not put off going out in the rain but I don't really want to damage anything if it can be avoided..lol
  18. Hi Hakon Nice setup the same as mine..plenty of little tricks and tweaks to make that motor a little better..
  19. No way mate just chuck on the hat and ride the bloody thing..I love riding on the road..watching the licraclads as they disappear and eat my dust.lol..I've been chased down a few times by cyclists asking All sorts of questions and I'm sure a few have gone home and been on here checking the Ebike thing out..and that's great more converts..I'm finding now that 30mph is fast enough and I'm being swayed into cutting the power to conserve energy for the extra milage.
  20. Right I will not be buying one then lol..what's your next build then lol.
  21. Try and keep the case mate it looks good and tidy..looks like I'm Gona have to AV a go on this one...have you sold the carrera.
  22. Time to go back to vintage trials bikes ..
  23. Now that would make a nice ride..sorry officer I thought the legal limit was 250bhp not watts..
  24. Mate WTF are you up to..this convertion seems a real bar Stuard...this is the trouble with building ...that's what I Said about measurements..it seems weird but whenever I see a nice quality bike parked up I find myself compelled to look a bit closer..bottom bracket / battery clearance..poss motor fitment..I know ..and that's before I've nicked it..only joking..it seems good converting them but not all frames are a good convertion..and bloody sad after spending hard earnt cash...
