  1. Ok thanks, I’d be looking to use a sw900 display and then I could just buy an additional 48v controller
  2. Thanks for advice about the motor- I can see 250w kits although They say 36v, would this still work with a 48v battery? Just change the settings? Is a 250w still a direct drive ? Thanks for all your help, Ian
  3. I never thought of that , excellent advice ! I just need a few mm deeper not wider (it’s a trek not a carrera subway, I just searched about filing and found this thread) . cheers again
  4. Hi there, does filing the dropouts ever affect the disc brake? Does it throw it off or is there usually still enough play in it to work without more adjustment? I’m looking to get the axle probably 2-3mm deeper into the dropouts (rear)
  5. Hi guys. Turns out I was being really stupid, the phase wires that I took out the little joining block (to get some washers over and left them loose) were randomly touching causing the juddering, when I moved the bike they must have moved enough not to touch to let it spin freely . Thanks for everyone’s help and especially the guy who mentioned phase wires
  6. This is even when there is no power to the motor? I’ve not even connected battery yet
  7. Flat terrain , mix of roads and paths , around 20miles range with most usage between 15-22mph
  8. Yes I never thought of that , perhaps a smaller 250w motor with a bigger controller and battery
  9. I will double check for wobble but sure it felt pretty solid , but I will need to try and wiggle when it is shudder and when it stops . I will check with battery once I have fitted but I’m expecting it be the same
  10. Ok thanks, I will check with power and see what’s happens
  11. Just a standard hub motor, 1000w , I’m not sure the exact term? I’ll try attach picture ,
  12. Yeah when spun both ways . It’s not a geared hub motor though if that makes a difference. If I spin backwards And forwards a few times it sorts itself for a wee while . Is it likely to do the same when I connect battery?
  13. A little update on my greenlance battery - I’m at 1700 miles no issues so far , still getting great range on a single change. My round trip is 22miles and manages this fine although I sometimes top up at each either end . Cheers
  14. Hi guys. my new hub motor is juddering when I spin by hand , I can then rotate opposite way for a few turns then spin other way and it will be fine for a wee while . I’ve not connected better yet , any ideas? thanks guys
  15. Sadly pics won’t upload, I’ve fitted 3 washers internal of the frame and that seems to have solved it. Is that to many washers ? I will be fitting at least 1 torque arm also , possibly 2 if that’s what anyone recommends , Thanks again
  16. I will take pictures and report back , Thanks guys
  17. Hi guys, as per the title, the rear hydraulic brake caliper is way out, not even room to fit it to the iso adapter. I have read mechanical disc brakes are thinner and offer more room, has anyone had similar problems and how did u solve without changing frame, Thanks in advance
  18. So I went for the 48v20ah battery from greenlance, got with thiet Black Friday discount code so made the price very reasonable for that size of battery. Great customer service from Greenlance, added in an extra charger at my request and sent a link to pay the extra, all quite simple. On my 11 mile commute the battery barely drained with a mix pedal assist 1 and 2 so in my mind the AH of the battery is genuine. It’s physically bigger and heavier than my previous 13ah battery. Cheers for all ur help guys
  19. Is there any way to check if the AH Is genuine? Or just range test a giant my old 13ah and guestimate from there? For my previous better to be lasting over 5 years 10,000 miles does that mean it was good quality one? Was a hailong bought from eBay …
  20. That’s great cheers, I will have a look
  21. Hi guys, After over 5 years my battery’s range is reduced enough for me to consider buying a new one (it’s convered almost 10,000 miles) I’m eyeing a UPP on eBay 48v 20ah OR I’ve just seen a 48v24.5ah from pedal ease. My previous was only 13ah so looking for something 20ish ah to help with more range, Any suggestions would be great, Cheers, Ian
  22. Ok I see your point- I may just get the bigger battery, and use it or maintain current speeds I’m getting . And hopefully the battery lasts me longer that 200 charges
  23. also what sort of speed gain/range do you reckon i could gain, currently get around 30mph on flat no wind..
  24. hmmm looks like they can be strapped in the triangle, i'm guessing this is a bad idea? Too much weight for velcro straps to hold?
  25. Ok thats great - i dont quite understand the 52 / 65 cells part, is this still or a 48V battery, better yet if you can point me in right direction where to get one Also i was reading a 52V battery would get more speed and i se these with 20ah, would that be worth it if im changing battery anyway? thanks again, Ian.
