Replacement Battery
I have an eight year old Powabyke X24 with its original 6AH bottle battery. Not surprisingly the battery now lasts for only about four or five miles. I have looked for a replacement and haven't yet found one with a three pin connector to fit straight on to the bike. Any help would be appreciated. Tony

Buying a New Battery for Powabyke X24 - alibaba
Sorry didn't make it clear. I was referring to the existing battery and its three pin connection. I was thinking that as there are three pins there would be three wires going to the controller.

Buying a New Battery for Powabyke X24 - alibaba
Thanks for replying , much appreciated. For information I wonder if you would advise me on the following:- Presumably the doubling up of positive and negative terminals is for taking power to something in addition to the motor? Will there be three wires in the cable - otherwise why are there three pins? Is it probable that the wires to the controller will be colour coded black + red? If there is doubt I suppose I could work it back from the existing battery terminals.

Buying a New Battery for Powabyke X24 - alibaba
My quote was apparently delayed by the Chinese Spring Festival but it has arrived and is £149.78 including shipping charges. It is being sold as a Samsung battery cell .Not bad if it is a good product. One fly in the ointment is that the battery connection has four pins and the socket on my bike has provision for only three. I imagine that I can get it to fit on the Powabyke frame? Can you please tell me if there is an adaptor that I can buy for connecting the cable.

Buying a New Battery for Powabyke X24 - alibaba
I have sent an email to Shenzhen Tianlihe Technology Co., Ltd. to find out how much they will charge for one battery. Given that they accept Paypal I will try my luck if supply and ship is in the £120 -£150 area. I'll post the figure when I get it.

Buying a New Battery for Powabyke X24 - alibaba
I need a new 36v battery and find the prices very steep. So I have been looking on the alibaba website which has a vary large number of (maybe naff) possibilities. Many of the suppliers ask for a minimum order of say 10 "pieces" which obviously rules them out. A few will supply one battery and this link http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/938820933/Samsun_cell_36v_10ah_Electric_Bike.html could be worth pursuing as it seems to be the type of battery fitted to new Powabykes. If it is $50 -$100 , the latter being about £60 ( plus unknown postage ), do you think that it is worth risking it? I am assuming that it will connect to the existing power connector?

Aldi HD Action Camera?
I'm thinking of getting one of these cameras for my bike. Does anyone know if , by getting some sort of universal mount/dock, they can work as an in-car camera too?

Powabyke 36v Li ion Battery
Hello , it's an X24

Powabyke 36v Li ion Battery
I have had 3years 5 months use from the battery and it is understandably not now performing as well as it used to. It has never produced the distances claimed but was good for about 20 miles if I pedalled enthusiastically. I have been looking at buying a new one and they are not cheap. Is DIY recelling the existing battery worth attempting? Is it possible that the deterioration in performance is down to a few cells packing in and I would need only to replace those? Have not opened the battery - are they D type?

Heated Gloves
Been using the Maplin gloves and they are excellent . Batteries last for at least 90 mins ; not yet determined how long before they are fully discharged. It also remains to be seen how long before a circuit is broken within the gloves given that they are not sold as biking gloves and the pressure which is exerted upon them with via the brake levers.

Heated Gloves
Roger - thanks. I have a good supply of rechargeables to keep the grandchildren's toys powered. I have tried out some of my 2000 mAh batteries (AA) and will take note of how long they last before they need recharging.

Heated Gloves
Bought some of the heated gloves from Maplins - but they charged me ( sale price ) £19.99.

My battery lost 1/3 of its capacity
Thanks for this info. My battery (36v Li-ion bottle type) has been giving rise to concern to the point where I was considering buying a new one. Didn't really notice last winter as the two feet of snow meant that I didn't use the bike at all. I take it that simply keeping the battery in the house would effect improvements ?

Bike "Computer"
I was interested to see how far I go and at what speed so bought a bike computer from Lidl for only £4. The sensor and reader need to be within 2mm for it to work. The sensor attaches to a spoke and the reader goes on the forks. It could not be set up as supplied as there is no way that you can get the two components that close. I have got it working by , lengthwise, cutting a piece of plastic tube and attaching it to one of the forks to bulk it out and then fixing the sensor. Not very pleased with this - do these devices all need "Heath Robinson" efforts?

Powabyke X24 Cutting Out
Thank you very much for the helpful replies. It is a relief to learn that I will not have to return the bike for repair. It still might cost though as in anticipation of the worst , I contacted The Bike Shop in Derby about buying a replacement and was told about new bikes due in from Trek ( I think that's the name? ) and Giant. The latter , at a cost of approx £1,350 , is now on my list of "must haves".

Powabyke X24 Cutting Out
I have been using my X24 for 18 months with no problem until yesterday. I went on a 12 mile ride starting with a fully charged battery. Going up the steep hill to get back to my house I used full power and the motor began cutting out and then re-engaging in a very jerky fashion but apparently with plenty of reserve when it did kick in for 3 or 4 seconds several times. I have recharged the battery and now all seems well. I have never run down the battery, as far as I know , to a point where it is exhausted . I had expected that a low battery would die off gradually. I had also expected that a 12 mile journey with lots of input from me would not use up the power in the battery. Is this normal?

Brake Judder Powabyke X24
Thank you for your helpful reply. I'll follow your advice.

Brake Judder Powabyke X24
I am getting severe brake judder - front wheel. Using small amounts of engine degreaser on the rim does the trick but the problem soon returns. Do I need to realign the brake blocks, which seem not to be worn out, or would replacement cure this? Should the brake blocks have a leading edge at the front?

Frozen hands - need new gloves
Why your comment about your eyeballs hurting is somehow hilarious I honestly don't know, particularly as on my last ride the freezing cold made my ears give me such truly agonising pain.

Powabyke X24
I am very pleased with my X24 , with one exception. That is the embarrassment caused by the really excessive noise of the motor. Is anyone able to recommend a compatible replacement motor ( presumably supplied as an integral part of a new front wheel ) which is as near silent as possible. I would not want to lose the dragless freewheeling of the existing motor if this can be achieved. The battery is 36v LI. Any suggestions please?

Powabyke Survey
Several weeks ago I completed an online survey having received an email from Powabyke. They said that those replying would receive a battery lock. I haven't yet received this item - has anybody else who replied got one?

Powabyke X24 Motor Noise
I am quite pleased with my Powabyke having now made and fitted a retainer to stop the battery jumping off the frame but it does sound like a milk float when under load. Is there any way of silencing the motor as it is somewhat embarrassing ?

Help needed to choose a new ebike please
- Powabyke X24 Crank Sensor
I have a Powabyke and am generally happy with it. However , I do find now , after a bit of experience with it , that the inability to have immediate motor assistance for a hill start is disappointing. Can the crank sensor be disabled so that the machine pulls away without the pedals being rotated? regards Tony- Just Bought a Powabyke X24
I have finally taken the plunge and bought a Powabyke 24 speed. Having studied the information on here for months still didn't know what to expect when I got on it. I haven't ridden a bike for 10 years and was apprehensive when I set off. Steep downhill from home to start with ( very slowly ! ). I set the control so that power assist only became effective when pedaling. Didn't like the delay caused by the crank sensor when I needed motor support . Would like to change this aspect. I know that using "power mode" would get round this but I am trying to minimise motor usage. Perhaps it has a few too many gears for me. I have to say that I am very impressed by the performance of this bike . We have some very steep hills here in Chesterfield and I would not have been able to stay onboard without the powerful assistance provided by this machine. Yes, very impressed indeed. I went into town but daren't leave the bike in case it got stolen . I need to buy a secure cable and lock ( as much as £44 at Halford's !! ) so that I can make better use of the bike. I can certainly recommend this bike. I wonder how good the £1,000 plus bikes are. regards Tony - Powabyke X24 Crank Sensor
