Jesus, what a lot of misery and glum outlook I’m not sure about how much they sit on but in last nights highly informative and entertaining show they let us meet some of the people receiving fantastic help and support by highly professional and caring staff whom children in need pay their full salary. They can’t bankroll that without a pile of cash. The families getting this help couldn’t be more grateful and thankful for their vital support Not sure why any mention of the stars supporting the charity are being mentioned in the same sentence as taking money because I don’t believe they are I’m going to ignore this thread now as it’s one of the most mean spirited depressing piles of Shoite I’ve ever had the misfortune to read. Enjoy your bitterness and contempt for such a caring bunch, you seem to enjoy it as much as I enjoy supporting them and seeing the results

I love the whole good feel factor about it and enjoy seeing the stories behind their work. The stories about kids dealing with cancer, caring for ill parents and bereavement among others is just heart wrenching and I wonder who would be helping them if it wasn’t for pudsy Attitudes like yours sum up the attitude of modern society not giving a funk about anyone needing help Why anyone would complain about such a well intended well supported charity is beyond me. It’s one night of one channel raising millions and supported by millions of people which highlights sad stories, wonderful people and let’s people know some of us don’t want the Tory world of austerity or the hate filled world of trump But if you are happy hating it, fill your boots. I love it

Hope it doesn’t got the same way as drones. There were a few cases of stupid people doing stupid things then the powers that be rolled out new legislation and red tape with the touch of a steam roller

I’m guessing a lot of my posts are being overlooked For the record, I have no doubt the bike was sold in good faith and very low use. It still had dimples on the tyres and under 200 miles if I remember correct The battery had absolutely no signs of a problem when I used it until it started making the sparking noise I mistakenly thought it was the XL battery costing £600 to replace and was a bit annoyed the company would encourage dumping such a otherwise good battery without even an attempt to identify problem never mind repair it, in my dreams I hoped I might get a repair, not a replacement It is now off for repairs or not depending on the issue I have no problem buying a new battery at £330 but still think it seems a terrible waste of good materials and I will still be very much cheaper than buying a new bike, although still without the protection of the warranty of course I will only now update this thread with a update on the battery situation, if it can be repaired or not and what the problem was if it could be identified. Thanks to all who helped with valuable information and suggestions. I will leave it now to anyone who wants to contribute but will leave any replies until I have an update on the battery or have ordered a new one This forum thrives because of its helpful members and I apologise to them or anyone else offended by the petty arguments which almost broke out

Not at all, if we get back to my original point, my main problem is with the non environmental attitude of dump the battery and buy a new one without even bothering to look at it People jumping on the thread to gloat or call the very nice old fella who sold me the bike a thief and a liar are just looking to cause bother, and looks like succeeding To add to this, when he sold me the bike he was very upset about giving up on it as it was a 60th birthday present from his wife and wished me all the luck in the world, and remember, when he sold me it, it was under warranty which shoots down this image of a dodgy rip off merchant. And lord knows how anyone who never met him or seen the bike can even think such nasty bile. The conversation has now jumped a million miles from its original intent and people coming on board to stir the pot And if people don’t like aggressive replies, don’t come on just to snear or score a cheap laugh. If someone can explain any other reason behind post 66 I’d be happy to be shown my error. But until then my opinion of the guy stands

I’m just glad we have so many experts on my situation I know exactly why the bike was sold, do you know how much I paid for it? I can easily afford a new battery and still be quids in but it has also nothing to do with my environmental concerns or any other concerns I mistakenly shared . If you need a hand getting off that high horse, I can maybe help out with a scaffolding or a ladder

That’s nice for you and kind of what I expected from them, somehow I managed to get almost the opposite reaction to the great service you got. I’ve not heard back from jimmy yet but have resigned myself to accepting I,ll just have to buy a new one if he can’t sort the battery I also know any bike I buy in future won’t be Volt and will be honest in my experience of the company when folk ask me about the bike in future It’s not the end of the world, so we move on

I see you like selective quoting, I’m not against opposite views at all. I’m pointing out how silly the idea of marketing green transport then filling landfill with lithium and nasty chemicals is I’m pointing out the irony of being unable to transport faulty batteries or take any responsibility while shipping new bikes around the globe and the fact they can send a new battery when profit is involved yet hide behind health and safety regs when it might involve some effort or expenditure on their part. Not sure what your point about Boeing and Dreamliner is, or if it’s relevant but They surely wouldn’t be involved in posting a battery down south for repair Really lost me with my question about a different arse on the same seat, what has suing myself and cars or insurance got to do with a transferable warranty? Sorry but the warranty analogy sounds like a smokescreen of small print to hide behind. What difference does a different arse on a seat make? And I understand legal reauirements about transporting batteries but that too sounds like a ploy to cost customers and lose any responsibility to protect the planet Big businesses hide behind protective legislation shocker Can you tell me how many batteries faulty or otherwise have exploded in transport? How do they transport new batteries to customers when selling bikes? Maybe I’m a bit cynical of big businesses but hiding behind small print and legal blah blah won’t stop all that stuff going to landfill and that is what bugs me

I have to agree with your view about the bike shop, my local dealer have been superb with me, it’s volt that I have a problem with They market bikes using the green travel as a selling tool, there should be a requirement to be green throughout the bikes life including all electrics. If not a legal requirement, surely they have a moral one My other issue with them and most other manufacturers is, why can’t warranties be transferred with ownership? It’s a real shame I bought volt believing there would be great customer service and a shared protective outlook toward the environment. Seems I was wrong and Volt bikes just want cash and move on to the next punter adding to landfill and caring not one fart I know others say it’s the battery manufacturers responsibility but it’s volt who choose to install these batteries knowing full well they are not serviceable then using environmental protection as a selling tool. I’d call that dishonest and immoral

I see that would be an issue, but would using plasticine or something similar be so difficult? Then it would be easy dismantled, hold everything in place and even be reusable when roaring batteries I’m just saying with a bit of thought from the clever people our green transport option would be just a wee bit greener

Back to jimmy and his magical service, Mary phoned me to make sure all was ok and how to print label etc for collection on Monday so so far it’s a highly recommended service, thanks again all for pointing me in their direction

Turns out I think. Have the £330 version but I’d stil at her fix it than dump it. Manufacturers likepanasonic who produce large amounts of batteries surely have a moral obligation to ensure batteries are as easy to repair as possible, to me it’s ridiculous to pick a e bike to reduce carbon footprint only to find they are considered disposable items. I’m pretty sure they contain some awful noxious stuff that won’t blend into nature when dumped

I phoned jimmy today and you were all correct, what a nice bloke and really knows his stuff I,ll send him my battery and see how that goes but after our conversation I’m confident he can fix it Turns out he is a wizard and used to do all the repairs at hogwarts but asked it to be kept a secret so don’t tell anyone, some muggles love to gossip

That just amazes me in so many ways. Seems our “green transport” might be quite the opposite

They couldn’t help I’m afraid, they put me on the hunt for a battery company in Dundee who also couldn’t help. No one wants or knows how to open and repair batteries. I personally think it’s a missed opportunity for small businesses. Cheers anyway
