  1. OK. I free wheeled down a big hill today and speedo read 36mph.good fun but bit scary. It rolls so much better with the big Ben's. I didn't realise how much frictional drag you get with nobblies.
  2. My legs are really strong but the rest of me is 54 years old. OK I'm might try a 46t first. I've just put road tyres(Schwalbe big Ben's) on to replace the kenda nobblies and I can't believe how much faster I can go. Hence the need for higher gears. I mostly ride flat roads and never go on the dirt. Thanks
  3. OK thanks. Just to check it will make a real difference to the gearing if I go to 48t.the result I'm after is much higher gears in 6/7 and 8th gear. I never use 1-5.
  4. That's great. Thanks alot
  5. Hi. Thanks so would that fit on mine.?
  6. Hi all. Does anyone know what the largest chain ring I can fit to my carrera e vengeance 8sp please. Currently have 40t.Thanks

  9. Tried following your link but got too techy for me.my post code starts BS23.I'm not good with technology as I'm the wrong side of 50!!think I'll just post a general message tomorrow asking is there anybody near me?thanks again for all your help.
  10. Thanks for your input.A lot of members are also saying it needs to have some miles on it and hopefully it will get easier.otherwise I'll have legs like Arnie Schwarzanegga!!!!!
  11. Hi wicky.OK I'll try that.I'm a bit of a technophobe but I'll give it a shot.Even so can I just post a shout out to see if anyone is local to me??thanks for the msg.
  12. Hi JP.thanks for your reply.Tyres are at max 50 psi.roads are smooth.I weigh 97 kg at the moment.iv taken battery off and tried riding but its really tough going and the resistance is defo from rear hub.I've only ever ridden one electric bike and its the one I have.I need to find someone locally to have a go on theirs.I'm also new to pedelecs forum.can I just post where I live and ask fellow bikers if they live near me??
  13. Hi Fat Rat.it is like riding thru treacklewith the brakes on .Someone said it shud get better with wear.I hope so I don't want to go round assisted all the time.I need the exercise. thanks for your help tho.this is the first forum iv joined.everyone is so helpful.I love it.
  14. Guess I'll have to get used to it and get fitter.but thanks
  15. Brakes are fine.not binding but thanks.
  16. Hi Flecc.yes I've done that and it runs free just as the bike freewheels beautifully like a normal bike.as soon as you start to pedal u actually slow down.presumably because the motor is activated by the forward motion of the crank.
  17. Thanks for the reply Neal but iv taken the battery off and tried to ride it and its defo mechanical drag from the hub.if I get up to say 15mph without battery it freewheels fine.but as soon as I start to pedal it feels like the brakes are on.it really is that bad..
  18. Hi everyone.I've just joined today after buying a halfords vengeance.the motor is fantastic but its extremely hard to pedal as a normal bike.there is a noticeable resistance from the hub.As I've only just bought it 3 days ago can anyone advise me.Thanks
