  2. Thanks. They are getting some soon so Ive ordered a 20Ah. Looking forward to replacing the 36v Bafang Bbso1 with the 48v and a Tsdzv8 and trying it the v steep hills around here.
  3. Haven’t been in here for a while so good to be back. I have an old Wisper 906XC. I converted it from front hub to a mid drive Bafang Bbso1 with kit from Woosh. It’s been v good but for health reasons now need some more grunt for climbing steep hills on Exmoor. So planning to swap the 36v Bafang for a 48v Tdsv8 from Woosh. But existing Wisper battery is behind the seat post and called I think a Silverfish type. Woosh don’t do those. So can anyone recommend a good 47v Silverfish type - say 15ah and with good cells and BMS. I really like the bike - it looks good and is v comfortable for me so want to keep it - just give it more grunt on hills. Thanks.
  4. Fantastic. Thank you.
  5. Thanks for all this help. Fantastic. The bike has a14 speed Rohloff rear hub and an eccentric bb which precludes the use of wither a mid drive or a rear motor. So looking for a front hub motor that gives as much grunt as poss on steep hills. My existing Sparticle/ Yosepower kit on my Rohloff bike is a good combination. So before I order a few more questions if I may? I can’t seem to find any wheels with motor already built in on the top bike site. Is that right? So have to factor in the cost of a wheel and having it laced in etc. As to rpm I assume I should go for the lower rpm torque on hills? I also can’t figure out on the site how to order with Juliet cables throughout. Finally where is the best place to buy a good down tube battery from? Sorry for sounding such a nerd but we all have to start somewhere!
  6. Thanks for this. I googled Topbikekitand got a U. S. site e and one on AliExpress. I assume the latter one is the correct site? If I go for the AKM which is the better legal 26ins front hub and which KT controller and LCD would you suggest, if you don’t mind me picking your brain. Also do I get stung for import duties buying it this way?
  7. Thanks. Have emailed them now I know where they are. I’ll wait until they have stock but of interest is theirs a Bafang hub or not?
  8. Thanks. Realise I posted in the wrong forum section by mistake. Anyway, that’s what I thought too and your reply is v helpful I’m quite happy to buy from the Chinese though don’t want to be landed with import duties. However if it is a Yosepower I can’t seem to find a site to buy it from - either as a complete 26ins front hub kit( without batteries) or if necessary as components. Any thoughts/ links would be a help. Also any thoughts on where to source the bottle batteries and battery holder from. Thanks.
  9. Help with another conversion please? I recently bought a lovely used Rohloff touring bike which has also been converted to a front hub motor. It is a lovely combination and I would like to replicate the kit on my wife’s tourer. The kit was fitted by Electric Bike Sales Cambridge and from their website it seems to be a Sparticle. But the LCD is a Yosepower Y01 and seems to be a KT. I could get a kit from Electric Bike Sales but £700 seems a bit steep with a small battery. So can anyone figure out what I’ve got ( a Yosepower kit?) and where I can get another inc a pair of good size bottle batteries( one spare goes in the back rack). Some pics below. Thanks as ever.
  10. Thanks for this. Now spliced into battery cables and all well.
  11. Afternoon. Recently bought another(!) e bike. This time a Thorn Rohloff tourer with a Yosepower 250w front hub kit. Down tube bottle battery and spare on custom cradle on rack. V nice outfit. But has no lights. Light setting on Y01 display but no cable from controller. I have a spare Busch Müller 6-42v light and want to wire it in. Is it just a case of opening controller and soldering to input cables from battery via fuse or is there a dedicated light output I should be looking for? Here is my controller below. Thanks as ever for help I know will come!
  12. I’ll try this too once I’ve regressed etc. On the other hand there is always a second hand Rohloff to think about!!!!
  13. Thanks for this. I’ve already tried my LBS and they say it’s ahidtinh ok without the motor but it is usual for them not to shift under any sort of load. Their view is that it doesn’t work with load from mid motor. But I know there are people on this forum like you who have been v happy with Alfine/ BBS01 combination. Hence my post. I am thinking next of taking out the centre of the hub, soaking it in EP90 and the regressing beatings before reinstalling with new cable and a different shifter ( I would prefer nexus twister to my rapid fire as have a weak thumb( age!). Any ideas?
  14. I recently converted my Wisper 906 XC from a Dapu front hub to a bbs01 ( wanting to stay legal) . It has an Alfine 8 hub. Much nicer. 2 related problems however.1. The Alfine doesn’t want to change down to the low gears. So on a hill when I change down it stays in a higher gear. Easing of on the power or tapping the brake cut off makes no difference. The indexing seems ok as the 2 yellow markers align in the hub in gear 4. It also changes fine when the motor is switched off but not standing on the pedals. Any ideas? . 2. The related prob is that when I start repedalling after changing there is a lag before the power kicks in. Not long but long enough to lose momentum on a hill especially if the Alfine hasn’t changed down as it should! I have a cable for the laptop so is there a setting change that might help? This dows mar the Bafang but if the change down had occurred wouldn’t be quite so bad. Sufficiently fed up with the Alfine not changing that thinking of swapping it out for a used Rohloff!
  15. Yes, try a bigger sprocket on the rear wheel. They are about £10 and lots of “how to” clips on YouTube. I live in Exmoor with lots of 20% hills! I changed the front hub to a mid motor bbs01. A 46t chain ring and 20t sprocket an an Alfine 8 just about gets me up them.!
