Just a nagging doubt...………. but?
Thanks, I was looking at the Wolf link, so will investigate the one you suggest, will I require any extra links in the chain or will the deralliuer compensate with what is already fitted. Could you get away with an extra long B screw instead of the Wolf link ?

Just a nagging doubt...………. but?
I'm having exactly the same issues with my 2nd e-bike, a Cube Touring hybrid pro 500, fitted with the ALP motor. It replaced a stolen Race reaction 500 e-bike which came with the previous gen C X performance. Yes I agree that the ALP has a few advantages over the C X, namely the lack of drag at the max speed, less noise. But I really do miss that extra 25Nm tourque, and assistance up to 120 rpm vs. the 100 rpm level on the ALP. I miss it so much that I am looking to swap the current bike in against the new Katmando 625. This will give me the new low drag C X motor, and a return to the 46 tooth rear cassette, so I can climb my Lakeland passes again, with consumate ease. The ALP motor I find with the 42 cassette is just not man enough for some of the hills I like to tackle. I did ponder fitting the 46-11 cassette to the hybrid touring, but I think it might require the fitting of a long cage as opposed to the medium that is fitted at present.

Which e mtb better buy
Yep. only you can decide which one, but try a hardtail with a sussy post fitted, and a good selle gel comfort saddle. Full suspension are nice and trick, but so much more to maintain if they are used as they should be, and if not look stupid as a road bike, you will get tired of the unnecessary boinging up and down, you can lock them out but no point getting them. Motor wise, I tried the Bosch and Shimano, and didn't really like the STEPS system over the Bosch.

E-Zee Riders - The UK’s first Land’s End to John O’Groats electric bike holiday specialists....
I'd agree with that sort of itinerary, lots of short, get off the bike, breaks during the day. Use all of the days hours available, no turning up at your stop in the mid afternoon, plan to use the hours available, unless you are on a 3 week trip, but to do the ride as a bit of a challange, keep the ride time as short as possible, whilst remaining pleasurable. Batteries on by 1900hr will see them charged by morning, even better if you have a 4 amp fast charger.

E-Zee Riders - The UK’s first Land’s End to John O’Groats electric bike holiday specialists....
I'm your man who can drive your support van ! Did it 6 years ago when my son did LEJoG, non-stop, (other than 6 hrs necessary sleep stops), in a total of 98 hrs. The thought of doing the trip myself has been in my mind ever since I got into the e-bikes, and accommodation to me would just be a roof over my head, be that light weight tent, youth hostel, glamping pod etc. Having had my bike pinched recently, that has ironically left me with a spare 500 bosch powerpack, and the plan to replace the e-MTB with an e-tourer only makes the plan a bit more realistic, albeit with some less adventurous slightly shorter trips first, C to C would be a good one for me from my location. Would agree that the CX motor might be a little less suitable than the ALP, as I found the pedelling through syrup feel of the CX once at 15 mph quite annoying, and in comparison the ease at which this is done on the ALP would only help over longer distances, it's ALOT quieter too. Will have to see how the 42t on the rear cassette copes with the bigger hills, something the e-MTB's 46t +CX had no problem at all with, out of the way Hardknott ! Mind you I did climb the Alpe d'Huez last year on one of the French moustache e-bikes, and that was the ALP motor, in 36t rear gear, and sport/tour mode.

CUBE Touring Hybrid Pro 500 - v - CUBE Touring Hybrid 500
I'm in the same boat as you looking at these two bikes. Having come from a race reaction with the cx motor I was a bit worried I'd miss that hit of the higher torque, but when riding, the Active line plus seemed to be fine, and the geometry and comfort of the bike was superb. Note also that the pro also gives you an air fork, with lockout which the one does not. I also found that there were certain other bits fitted to the pro, like adjustable stem and suspension post were variable on the one, along with a few one's having the purion fitted rather than the intuvia. Like you the main issue is actually finding one.

Rear Bike Carrier Damage
Hello Gubbins I've tried all types of carriers, and for me, roof or tow bar methods are the best, the strap on ones are useless. I am in the same position as you. albeit fitting one to a car rather than van, and with my bike now being a 21kg CUBE, I will be going for the towbar option, they are increadibly stable, and secure. I have been quoted £250 for a fixed towbar and 7 pin electrics, and £450 for a detachable one, both Witter, fitted to a SEAT Leon. This is from a mobile fitter, based at Maryport in Cumbria, where are you in the North ? I am south lakes and it's just outside his range, but he's happy for me to take my car to him for fitting, reckons 2-3 hrs. I could give you his number if you want, as £1800 seems a stupid high amount.

Tyre choice
Went with the 2.35 tyre, but Fawkes cycles had said that I could go to 2" on the 30mm rims.

HaHa it actually happened......Cheat !!!!!!
Only just introduced my self, but rant/moan #1, Got passed by a conventional biker t'other day, who proceeded to claim that I was a cheat, ( now a friend of mine, mountain biker type, when I asked what he thought of e-bikes immediately resorted to telling me he regarded it as cheating, so I had had time to think about this view), so...I straight away asked the biker, to tell me exactly how he thought I was cheating and in what way, "well it's an electric bike, in it", came the reply, "are we in a contest ?" I said. Did I just encounter a Neanderthal, or do peeps actually think, it is in someway is cheating I found it amusing I did.

Hi there, newbie calling
Hi,new on here, just purchased a CUBE reaction Race hybrid 500. I have bought this for several reasons, all of which seem to be quite common to others, fitness, ease of use etc My main reason however was, after an initial try out on a hire bike, in Keswick I then hired one whilst in France, it allowed me, an overweight 62, soon to be 63 year old chap, to ride, with no drama, to the top of the Alpe d'Huez, alongside my son on his Ribble Carbon road bike. For years now we have travelled to France, where he has completed several of the major climbs around Bourg d'Oisans/Maureinne valley, then onwards to Provence for numerous single and triple ascents of theVentoux, with me in my car in support. Well now it's possible for me to get a taste of these climbs too, and be in good shape at the top. last week we were back home in the Lake District, and we both climbed Newlands and then Winlatter together. I love it, but after originally looking to buy the Hybrid One, I am very soon going to replace the Smart Sam tyres, good as they are, with more road orientated tyres, possibly Big Apples @ 29" x 2.25/2.35.
