Fiido D1/D2/D2S vs Alfawise X1
Hi everyone, I am in need of advice regarding the purchase of a foldable e-bike for my commute. I used to own a Kudos K16 that I then sold for an electric scooter, but due to the legal issue I am now jumping back on an e-bike. I do have some specific requirements, which are the following: I live on the 4th floor of a building in a flat (therefore must be a foldable bike that can go into the storage) with no lift access, so I have to carry the bike up and down everyday (along with my backpack with some equipment). For the above reason, the bike must weight less than 20kg My commute is 11.5 miles in total, so I don't need a very long range, but must have a throttle so that I can go full electric for the morning commute, and manual/assisted for the return home. The commute is completely flat (central London) so I would prefer to be single-double geared, to save some weight from the gear shifting If available through Cyclescheme I do not have any issue with budget, otherwise must cost not more than £700/800. After checking all the options, I have found the following options: Fiido D1 https://www.gearbest.com/electric-bikes/pp_3001463447562874.html?wid=2000001 Fiido D2 https://www.gearbest.com/electric-bikes/pp_3007072794068169.html?wid=2000001 Alfawise X1 https://www.gearbest.com/electric-bikes/pp_009341417636.html The X1 ticks all the boxes but does not have a handle for carrying, and I cannot find much information/reviews from user. Has better battery (10.4ah) and better LED screen. Fiido seems to be the most popular but I cannot find exact specific for the weight of the different models I would like to hear some opinion, maybe there are some Fiido/Alfawise owner here.

Purchasing a new Brompton but which Conversion Kit?
Hi all, I used to own a Kudos K16 (lightweight electric bike) which I sold some time ago, and I am now looking to buy a Brompton using a Cycle To Work incentive. Considering the insane price of the electric Brompton, I would like to buy a conversion Kit with a removable battery. Since I do not own a Brompton yet, I would like to know if an S2L would be compatible with such conversion, and most importantly, which is a reliable conversion kit in the budget of £300-600? I am interested in something really lightweight that can cover 20 miles range on a single charge.

So you'd recommend to always fully charge it? It is my knowledge that lithium battery's life is enhanced by charging cycles never beyond 99%.

My first e-bike: how to maintain it? tips and advice [Kudos K16]
Hi all, Thanks to your advice I have finally received my Kudos K16, which is the first e-bike ever owned. I must say they should have marketed the bike a lot better as it looks so much better than the pictures. Also it can be fold in two different ways, which was a very pleasant surprise as I was worried about the 'trolley' mode only. It's lightweight and I have no issue carrying it thanks to the handle on the frame. I would like your advice on: How to maintain the bike to ensure it lasts for a long period? Chain: It's a single speed so I don't have to worry about the gears. II have been told that once a month I should clean the chain and grease it again. I also got WD40, which components should I lube and how often? Battery: I have done a full cycle as first charge. I might be looking to only charge 4 out of 5 bars and have a full-cycle once a week or fortnight. I believe this should be correct. Tyres: have ordered a bike pump with gauge; I assume every couple days I should check the optimal pressure. Luckily I'll keep the bike in my flat so that shouldn't be an issue. V-Brakes: well, have no clue here, don't have a long history with bike before this. Please advise. Electric system, wires and cables: as above, no idea. Thank you all for your advice! Here some picture of the K16:

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
After much consideration, I have realised the the most important feature in the choice of my e-bike is portability. I live very central in east-london (zone 2) and I am covering a very short commute at the moment. I may not know if in 3 months I'll be working 20 miles from home, so I have to decide for something that can cover 10 miles per day with the opportunity of being able to carry in the tube/bus. I believe the only e-bike that I could actually carry in the tube/bus and up 3 flights of stairs is the Kudos K16. I can easily remedy the light issue with some reflector and a high vis jacket. In respect of the mudguards, when it's raining I would be wearing overtrousers and waterproof jacket, so any accidental splash wouldn't worry too much. But it's 10.4aH battery and only 15kgs, makes it the best choice for me. So thank you all for your advice, I just ordered one! Looking forward to post a review.

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
Which leads me back to the Cyclotricity Wallet. They do accept cyclescheme voucher so the Wallet with its 16.8kg, 18" wheels and mudguards becomes a strong candidate.. Do you know how much is the weight of the Secret' s battery exactly?

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
Thank you for your feedback RevBob. I have no doubt that with a lift I would have chosen the Kudos Secret as it just seems exceptional value for money and I do not need to take it to a train/bus on a daily basis. However carrying its 20 kg every day up and down the stairs, even for a 31 years old like me, it'd probably cause more inconvenience than just having a normal bike locked on the buildings racks. The brompton is £2.5k so out of discussion. I wish I could find more info on this Ciclotricity... the issue with most of these e-bikes is that there are no review whatsoever and it's hard to realise whether it could be a good value for money. I think I should probably stick with the K16 and compromise on lights with some reflectors and a hi-vis jacket, and using overtrousers to avoid getting splashed without the mudguards...

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
What about the Cyclotricity Wallet? At 16.8kg it's basically a compromise between the K16 and the Secret (with the same price of K16). https://www.cyclotricity.com/uk/motor-homes/wallet-folding-e-bike-n.html

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
What would you recommend in my situation? I am relatively fit to carry an unfolded bike (14 to max 17-18kg) up the stairs.

Kudos Secret vs Kudos K16
So this puts a big question mark on top of the K16 as I have never ridden in London weather without mudguards... I am getting more and more confused every day about how to choose a folding e-bike that actually fits my need.. If I go for the Secret I get all the above but loose the opportunity to carry it on tube/train and it's heavier to lift up the stairs. If I go for the K16 I got lightweight and portability but no mudguards/lights/bell.
