1. Yep i was looking at one similar as my first choice but settled on something different due to price. For a 6-8 mile commute you cant go wrong with something like this, just get yourself a decent set of lights and you’ll be good to go. If you cant find this particular bike to test ride, find one that has the Bosch “Active Line Plus” motor so you’ll at least get an idea of how the motor feels Your local bike shop should have no problem servicing it, the motor comes from Bosch and all the parts are Shimano
2. Have a look at the Cube Hybrid range. Good looking well specced German made bikes at decent prices. Here’s a good one. https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cube-Touring-Hybrid-One-500-2018-Electric-Hybrid-Bike_113159.htm?sku=422814&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxZPgBRCmARIsAOrTHSZokQLZa1ibwhMqb2j0RlHG7m4IhhEYoZ7BN0YANlQHlWW3LDRebtgaAmwbEALw_wcB
3. Welcome to the forum Good choice! The cube hybrid a lovely looking bike and seems to be a very popular choice with people here so you’re In good hands. The motor you have is a good one its one of the few I test rode and should suit you well for the type of riding you do. It has 4 modes Eco, tour, sport & turbo. The tour mode is fantastic,I’m assuming you’ll be probably be switching between Tour & sport for the most part until you build your fitness back up. Riding unassisted will be a bit of a struggle to be honest until you get used to the bike. But by that time you’ll most likely be cycling around or above the 15.5mph threshold using little of the motors power. Check out the following link. Just input your average speed and Bosch will give you an estimated mileage figure based on the mode used. https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/service/range-assistant/ You can fine tune it by adjusting the other parameters such as total weight, cadence (rpm), surface type, tire tread, wind conditions, terrain etc. Should give you a rough idea of what to expect. Re insurance I cant comment as I don’t have it but as far as on bike security i think I’m well protected, Myself and a lot of others in here use an Abus Granite X plus 540 ULock for the frame and an Abus Cobra cable or something equally as strong to secure the front/rear wheels. I’d remove the quick releases from the wheels too if your bike has them. A GPS tracking device (probably overkill for me) is also something I’m looking into. Anyway hope this helps, Im no expert just thought id chuck in my 2 pence. Enjoy the bike and I’m Looking forward to reading your initial thoughts write up.
4. Welcome to the site hope you're enjoying the bike From what I've read on here the carrera models cannot be derestricted yet, but I could be wrong. Might be worth doin a search on youtube see what you find.
5. Not sure about the mechanics but my brother has the same display on his custom ebike and theres a lot you can change in the settings. Have a look a the following video Hope this helps.
6. Wow! Had no idea batterys could be so dangerous. Nealh thanks alot for the insight mich appreciated. I'll be passing this onto him right now before he does any damage. Is there any way he can replace the batteries to lithium ion or a safer stable type / brand of lipo battery at this point Without having to mess around with the bikes wiring?
7. My brother was given a custom made Spedelec from his friend last week. His friend literally had it for a week put 10 miles on it and then bought a vehicle and decided he no longer needed it so let my brother have it. Took it for a test ride yesterday and its insane! It comes with 2 10,000mah batterys and a strange charger with all sorts of readouts, Anyway we have no idea how to set it correctly so that it charges the battery property (its not fully charging the batterys) just wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. The voltage and current are adjustable as well as a few other things that dont understand What does he need to set this thing at so batterys charge properly? Any info would be appreciated
8. Theres a section called “which Ebike should I buy?" id start there. Before you post Have a read through some of the previous posts there's some really good info in there.

12. Remember when the Galaxy note first appeared? everyone laughed at the idea of holding a phone with a 5.3 inch screen to your face. 7 years later and it's become the industry standard. It's almost impossible now to find a phone with a screen size smaller that 5 inches. It was the same with the automatic transmission. People hated the idea of it and convinced themselves it was lazy but the ones driving the big BMW's and Mercs in the 90's/early 00's knew they'd probably never go back to manual and this would be the future...the number of cars sold with automatic has risen over 70% since in the last 10 years History is repeating itself with the Ebike. Those of us fortunate enough to have one know this isn't just a phase...its an evolution in biking! 7 years from now when the technology improves and the cost of manufacturing drops making it even more accessible to the masses I can guarantee every other bike will be electric in some way. I'd even go as far as to say the traditional road bike will eventually become somewhat obsolete (a niche product for the purists.) I wouldn't worry about the hate, they'll all convert eventually. Just be happy knowing you're 7 years ahead of the curve.
13. Have you considered raliegh motus grand tour? Upright step through Good mid drive motor Shimano Nexus 8 sp (Electronic gears) Comes with front/rear lights&mudguards and pannier rack Seems like a good bike and I've not heard any complaints about it. Wheel size might be an issue (26") and Its expensive but again you get what you pay for. https://www.raleigh.co.uk/motus-grand-tour-low-step-23033
14. Welcome to the forum mate enjoy your new bike
15. Some interesting lock combinations here. I decided to get an Abus Cobra cable to go with the Abus d lock which means i can secure the frame and back wheel and im going to remove QR from the front wheel and replace with hexlox or something similar. The lock/unlock process is a bit of a pain but i can live with it I also purchased a fake gps tracking sticker from Amazon which I've put on the battery [emoji1787]
16. Thanks mate ill look into that now. Yes 8sp will be the one ill be getting if i can find all the correct parts
17. Yea definitely not planning to fit this myself, just wanted to make sure i have all the correct parts before I take it to the shop.
18. I have a raleigh strada elite (shimano steps e6000) with a 9 speed Alivio groupset and considering fitting di2 in the near future. Dont have much knowledge when it comes to the technical side of bikes so apologies in advance if i ask some dumb questions. So I'm looking at either Shimano Alfine 8 speed or xtr 11 speed Would I be correct in saying I need the following components? - 11 speed cassette (if choosing xtr) - hub/derailleur - shifter - gear display - battery (&charger) - cables I was looking at the following sets: XTR https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-xt-m8050-di2-11-speed-gear-kit-97476.html?utm_campaign=googlebase-GB&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=shopping&utm_term=MTB+Groupsets&ucpo=37052&gclid=CjwKCAjw9sreBRBAEiwARroYm4SPEtIU8EKjX8SqwfZB27EhWs48E7NsjXj4IpkTJko-F2pZgW40YBoCMzoQAvD_BwE Would this be compatible for my bike? As for the Alfine I can get the hub from ebay but cant seem to find the rest. Anyone know where I can get the additional parts needed? Thanks.
19. Welcome Ian, your trike looks awesome and its nice to see its not just me who's a little OTT when it comes to seeing and being seen at night [emoji16]

23. Halfords are taking the Pee. Hope you manage to get your money back. if you can stretch your budget an extra £300 or so theres some great bikes to be had at the moment including this one. https://www.jejamescycles.com/raleigh-strada-e-electric-city-bike.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImouIo5uO3gIV1_ZRCh1HOQXyEAQYBSABEgIxdPD_BwE Good bike and an absolute steal at that price! and as someone on here pointed out to me on here yesterday, might be worth waiting for Black Friday (23rd November) see what deals pop up.
