Orbea Gain lost spokes
Ok, well I thought I would update this thread as my experience may help other Orbea Gain users. After almost a month of trying to obtain replacement spokes and the required tension my LBS had some custom built spokes made and I am 'back on the road' The aftersales from Orbea has been appalling. Remember this bike is under warranty. We tried 'all avenues' to get the required parts and info and got nowhere. When we finally got an answer from Orbea they said:- " We don't have an exact measurement for the tension on these wheels as they are made and serviced by our suppliers who won't provide us with this information " Frankly the mind boggles.

Orbea Gain auxiliary battery
I agree Inveral, for the rider who doesn't need 'high assistance' levels the auxiliary battery is unlikely to be needed. One of my rides (also D30) backs up your figures:- Distance: 40.15 mi Time: 2:33:16 Avg Speed: 15.7 mph Elevation Gain: 2,697 ft (822m) Avg HR: 125 bpm Max HR: 151 bpm Battery was showing 51% full However my bike weighs close to 16kg with 35cF/38cR tyres and full SKS mudguards, Garmin 130 & Garmin Vario radar light + underseat bag tube/tools/pump phew !

Orbea Gain sizing
I would be flabbergasted if the M30 came anywhere near 10.5 kg. The ebikemotion hub/battery etc are reported as being 3.5 kg. This would make the bike 7 Kg without the 'e-bike' bits ! with the 105 groupset this is a 'pipedream' P.s just reading a Gain M30 review in latest issue of Cycling UK’ magazine. Weight 12.7kg (L) no pedals.

Orbea Gain lost spokes
Err ! I’m not asking the LBS anything apart from ‘ fix my bike please’ Guidance ? I have no wish or intention to do it myself. They are not familiar with the bike or probably any of this type of bike. This is rural North Yorkshire and a small 1/1.5 man operation. Not a large city/town business. This is the bike’s 1st service and we are a little concerned the spoke tensions may all be wrong. I am 70kg and I have never lost a spoke on any bike before.

Orbea Gain lost spokes
Thanks Nealh, I will talk about this with the mechanic at the LBS. Wile I appreciate you trying to help vfr400 your post seems prejorative and dismissive of the LBS skills without real knowledge of the problem ? Is every LBS mechanic an “experienced wheel-builder” ? Anyway after some years of efficient and honest service from this LBS I am not about to lose confidence in them that quick. Regards.

Orbea Gain lost spokes
Yes, I have ‘popped’ a spoke on my Orbea Gain. Me, my LBS and the Orbea dealer I purchased from have been unable to get a response from Orbea as to the Spoke tension required when refitting. Does anyone have this info to share please, or maybe a proven Tel no/email address who is likely to know this ? It’s been a week now and I want to get the bike back on the road.

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!
I’m surprised that your surprised you find them “so slippy” on wet roads. With a ‘knobbly’ tyre like this you have minimum rubber on the road. Straight line grip is going to be ok but once you start cornering/braking at speed you are on the limit.

Orbea Gain sizing
I normally ride a medium, I’m a touch under 5’9” these days ! I was advised to get the small D30, I did and the size is correct. Based on your height I would expect the medium to be your size.

Does anyone have an Orbea Gain F20 or F30?
Enjoy your F40, I had to look it up to see where this ‘fitted’ in the lineup. I ride the drop bar D30. Interested in your words “ the additional power control on the bar “ reading the spec on the F40 leads me to believe it has the Iwoc1 control button on the crossbar. Is yours different ?

Orbea Gain, Ribble-e, or £1k bike plus Cytronex C1 conversion...any thoughts
I have the Orbea Gain and the Ribble is the exact same x35 drive system. My thoughts, you are correct in what you say, these are negative points. However, the perfect ‘pedal assisted’ bike doesn’t exist, and maybe never will. I have no regrets about buying my Orbea Gain

Orbea Gain e road bike
I presume you are not talking about the long awaited (but never seen) 'water bottle' battery Martin ? Do you mean you are getting another battery as per the one fitted ? how are you carrying/attaching this second battery. Intriguing, care to explain ?
