S-Pedelec/L1e-B Insurance UK
Anyone managed to get insurance on one of these last year or 2? If so, who with? I know about the law re: registering, but if impossible to insure, then always that risk isn't there. Thanks

Scott Sub Sport eRIDE vs Cube Kathmandu Hybrid vs Bergamont E-Horizon Sport vs Focus Aventura 2 6.6 vs Haibike Trekking 9
Thanks for this . Is there a way of comparing forks/drive trains/brakes? I'm no expert. Thanks

Scott Sub Sport eRIDE vs Cube Kathmandu Hybrid vs Bergamont E-Horizon Sport vs Focus Aventura 2 6.6 vs Haibike Trekking 9
All hybrid bikes with Bosch Performance CX motors, with similar displays and batteries, at similar prices. Given that, are they all much of a muchness or are there some I would definitely avoid/go for? Thanks

Wisper Wayfarer Mid-Drive - 100nm torque?
Hi, I have noticed that some of the Wisper Wayfarer bikes claim to have a Super Hi Torque Mid Drive 43.2V 250W motor with 100Nm. Has anyone compared these bikes to a similar bike with a Bosch CX Gen 4 motor on an incline? Please let me know - thanks!

Replacement E-Bike
Hi, I had a Focus Aventura 2 from 2018 with the Bosch CX Gen 2 motor. Unfortunately it got stolen and so am looking at a replacement. I want something with the torque ability of the Bosch CX Gen 2 or above. On looking at options I see the Wisper Wayfarers (M7/M9) had "Super Hi Torque" of 100nm! Yet some were just hybrid bikes and not eMTB. Considering it has more torque than the vast majority of motors on the market, I'm surprised more isn't made of it. I wanted to know if a.) anyone could help me compare Bosch CX Gen 4 and Wisper Super Hi Torque motors b.) Any quantifiable data on the relationship between torque and bike weight e.g. is it easier to climb a 8% gradient with a 85nm motor bike weighing 24kg vs a 60nm motor bike weighing 18kg. Thanks! Andy

Steep commute to work
Well practically speaking I wish to go my local Halfords and get an electric bike that is best at getting me up steep hills. Not too bothered by range as commute just 10 miles. Has to be road legal. What would you get?

Steep commute to work
So about middle of the range?

Steep commute to work
Thanks for all this. So I trialled a Carrera Crossfire e-Bike which 36V and current 11.58Ah. On the spectrum of hybrid bikes is this particularly powerful or not? Thanks

Steep commute to work
Thanks for this. I still don't understand how you can have a e.g 36V 20A bike without it being taxed etc. As that equates to 720W and https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules says max output 250W. Thanks for bearing with me, a novice!

Steep commute to work
Do you mean live at the bottom of a hill? So essentially yeah I'd be more keen on a bike that can get me up hills easily, appreciating battery life may suffer. Is it a case of multiplying the voltage and current and going for whatever is highest?

Steep commute to work
Hi! I would like to cycle to work but it's a steep commute (10 miles, and multiple hills of 5-10% incline) there. I cycled on a Carrera CrossFire Hybrid on trial from Halfords and on the steep sections I had to put some effort in, which is an issue as I cannot shower when I arrive. I had presumed due to the 250W limit, that all Pedelecs/Ebikes would give the same power up hills, and the only way I can make it easier is to go for a lighter bike. Is this correct? My route includes cycle paths so couldn't get something >250W. If indeed there are ebikes better at hills than others please let me know. Budget probably <£1500. Thanks!
