  1. Received the new Torque sensor yesterday from Powerbikes UK and fitted it last night. It's now sorted back to good use again and back using for my commute.
  2. Thanks for that. I have just ordered a new torque sensor and fully stripped and cleaned the castlated items on the back of the chain set so will see how that goes. If that fails I will get on with checking the voltages that you supplied the info about. Many thanks for that
  3. Nothing is broken on it and I have cleaned it up but with no luck. I 've just ordered a new one so will give that a try.
  4. Hi again. Does anyone know if the torque sensor from a Carrera Vulcan E can be tested.I have taken mine off and it doesn't on the face of it look damaged. Would like to know whether it's got a broken wire or internal damage before I go spending on a new one
  5. Hi all. I have been reading through previous posts regarding problems with this bike but haven't really found a definitive answer to my problem. I have lost my assistance when peddling. All the display is lit up and operating as it should and the walk mode works when pressed. I have unplugged the connector on the chain stay and cleaned with electrical cleaner and removed the sensor on the back of the chain wheel and cleaned with white spirit as well as the wheel that it locates to. The sensor doesn't have any damage to look at. Help! !anyone have anymore ideas what to look at or is it nailed in that the sensor is knackered.
  6. Thanks for that Nealh. Apparently it's got the adjustable bearing in the cassette side but it needs a special tool to do it. It's getting done early next week but i will check it out my self for future reference.
  7. Hi all. My back wheel on my Carrera Vulcan E has started to develop a small amount of play in it. Are the bearings in the SR Suntour HESC hub motor adjustable like any other hub or are they fixed roller bearings. The bike has only done 650 miles so it would be good to know before I go back to the local Halfords about it.
  8. Cheers guys. Bought a set of 2.2 Continentals so gonna give them a go. Thanks
  9. Hi. My Carrera Vulcan E spec is ready for a new rear tyre so have been looking at 2.2 width as there seems to be more choice than 2.1. I have been told that it will knock the calibration on the sensor to the computer and thus give a false reading or alter the way the motor kicks in and back out. Can anyone confirm this. Cheers
  10. I'm probably expecting a little bit too much from it then tbh Pete. I was contemplating taking it back and saying I'm not happy with having to do this and paying to and getting the crank powered Voodoo Bizango but at a £1000 more maybe I'll just get the citrus out now and again. Be interesting to hear how other Carrera users are getting on with theirs
  11. Hi Pete. I have stripped it down for a good clean only around a month ago after using it on a very muddy trail so find it strange that it needs doing regularly. The muddy trail was a one off and the rest of the time it's just used on the road or light off road use. When i said it's sealed I mean a low level protection rubber gasket so probs debris can still get in I suppose.
  12. Hi all . I have the Carrera Vulcan which in my opinion is a cracking bike and does a great job for the £1000 paid from Halfords. One little niggle though that is bugging me is few weeks to a month depending in usage it develops a stutter at the motor which I am led to believe it's the motor momentarily cutting off and on again. A quick removal of the sensor on the back of the chain wheel and a spray of citrus degreaser and it's good to go again. Anyone else heard if this problem? Surely it's not a maintenance norm to have to do this on a regular basis as the back of the chain wheel is sealed from the outside elements.
  13. Hi all. Stumbled on this forum after looking for ways to derestrict the 15.5mph limit on my Carrera Vulcan. Have read some interesting threads so thought it would be good to join up and keep in the loop
