  1. Just to add more confusion, they have the Tongsheng motors printed up with their name Varstrom on the side, and they also have a new motor VSM01 which is made by someone else again?
  2. Yes I've got a tsdz8 on another cargo bike, they're good motors, never seen a coaster brake version. On the tsdz2 coaster brake, PSW power do the 36v for only £199. But to get the 48v version, best price I've found is about £330 (elsewhere) which is a fair jump!
  3. Pics of the dream machine, I'm hoping a tsdz2 will fit in front of the tube, in the "step through" part of the frame
  4. Hi folks, got a cargo trike with coaster brakes and hub gears - mechanical disc brakes on the front wheels It has a Pendix edrive motor kit. But it's not very powerful, from the internet 50nm torque. And the battery is tiny, about 7ah, and about 7years old so the range is pathetic. From looking, about the only motor I've seen suitable for coaster brakes is the Tonsheng tsdz2 ? Apparently 80nm torque? Is there anything better? Ideally I would run it off a 48v 20ah battery as I use them on other bikes. I don't want to go fast, the trike isn't suitable for speed - but want to be able to climb hills!
  5. I don't know if it's actually any better, but KMC do a mid drive ebike chain I don't normally use Halfords, but with the sale price it seemed cheaper than anywhere else https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-parts/gears-drivetrain-and-cables/kmc-e10-e-bike-10-speed-chain-silver-122l-300486.html
  6. Yep, I got the bike 2nd hand. It's got Shimano 4 piston brakes, with magnet brake sensors. I've got Magura brakes on another cargo bike, advantage with them is you can get levers with proper sensors - they work really well.
  7. The display is an M58, which is okay It's not always very easy to read in daylight (with the brightness turned right up). And there's no indication for the brake sensors on it, so you can't see what they're doing. To set them up I actually got another bike right alongside and plugged the sensors in to that to set the gap.
  8. Just finishing this, it's a Yuba Mundo with a Tongsheng TSDZ8. After numerous front & rear hub motor conversions, this is my first mid motor It's a 48v 20ah battery. Front and rear lights are linkbest brand, and they both have lights to the side, so should be pretty visible. They run off the main battery. I've got a separate switch on the handlebars, but you should be able to switch them through the display. I've also mounted a small horn but it's pretty pathetic so will probably get changed. I made a little torque arm for the motor to hopefully hold it in place. The sidebars/running boards were needing painted, and I've a few tins of RAL2004 orange from machines, so that was the chosen colour! Seems good so far!
  9. Needed to get a new set of decent hydraulic disc brakes for one of the bikes. Found you can get genuine Shimano MT200 on aliexpress for about £35 or whatever. Make sure you order the front/rear left/right the way round you want it, and right length of hoses. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006422656303.html And then YosePower are selling brake sensors for the MT200 for £16, they just clip in to place behind the lever, and can even be adjusted https://www.yosepower.co.uk/collections/e-bike-accessories/products/brake-sensor-only-for-shimano-mt200-brake (you might need to cut the plugs off and solder your own on) All seems to work well so far! The sensors are fitted in these pics, you can barely see them
  10. I don't follow him, but it came up on the youtube homepage, this same bellend now has a video where he runs a red light and crashed into a child on a pedestrian crossing (which is on the green man)
  11. It's carried a fair amount of stuff. Wouldn't do this everyday, but here's it loaded with 75kg of chicken food
  12. A year on, over 2,200 miles on the bike now, it's been great fun!
  13. Funnily enough I've got one of those sting ray bikes sat in my shed. A mate dropped it off, saying it "would make an amazing electric bike, you can do it for me!" I said at the time, might get a front wheel motor that would fit, but it would be a bit lacking in traction. Doesn't look a very comfy bike to ride
  14. This came up on youtube, right dogs dinner of a bike, and the wheel falls off lol
  15. I've done this plenty of times with a hub motor, I'm sure london bridge will be fine
