  1. for one i am not worried about the warranty on the battery , just trying to work out an estimated lifespan based on the increased usage. yes i ride the bike on full assist mode to keep my commute under 45 mins. annoyingly at the moment i only need a small topup , as on a 400w battery i use about 50-60% of the battery so i need a small topup to get back , if/when the battery dies i will upgrade to a 500w which i will only need to charge once a day (i had one before but it got stolen) based on what you have said , bosch rates at 500-1000 charges and at my current usage i will hit about 500 in a year , plus with the extra drain i would expect a battery to last (based on my usage) about a year to 18 months before it wont manage my journey.
  2. I have a Halfords Carerra Crossfuse and been using it for about a year (De-restricted) i do about 22 miles a day on it 5 Days a week , it needs a full charge overnight and a topup charge during the day so technically its having a charge twice a day 5 days a week , so far the battery seems to be ok , and from reading the batteries have a Lifetime based on number of charges , so the questions are 1. how long would you expect this battery to last before it starts not retaining full charge 2. is there any cheap or easy way to tell the status of a battery ?
  3. thanks thats the one i got , do i need to completely coat the cassete and chain etc with it ?
  4. i should really get mine checked for the creaking noise but i think mine is related to the pedals.
  5. cool stuff do you have a link for the stuff you use on amazon or something , does it need a applicator or something to go on the chain/cassette etc ?
  6. hmm ok , i wonder if its the oil i am using , i am just using Muk Off dry and wet lube for different situations , perhaps that is whats wrong , you are probably right , im probably too trusting of bike shops :-)
  7. yes i have that , i think in mine its the pedals though cant seem to find anything loose , but it is annoying.
  8. well i do the basics , cleaning of chains/gears etc , and break pads etc , but prefer to get a professional to do the rest as i dont have the time/skill to do it etc.
  9. fair enough , so more than once a week cleaning then ? ill keep that in mind to prevent extra wear and tear, i have other bike shops around i just figured as i bought it from halfords they would know how to maintain it better.
  10. well i got the bike from halfords , and have been taking it back there for servicing etc , i clean the chain and cassette etc about once a week , and i do 100ish miles a week , i wonder if i should be doing it more.
  11. fair enough that explains it then really , having desrestricted mine it obviously puts a lot more pressure on the gears/chain etc, the parts just werent designed for the extra power etc.
  12. well when i took it into the shop i got it from for maintenance that is what they said so i got it replaced , its a cheap bit to replace , but i do seem to wear them out.
  13. thanks for the review , i have one myself have done about 2000+ this year on it , i am generally seeing a lot of wear and tear on gears/chain/casset etc. i clean and re-lube everything weekly but it just seems to wear out a lot , i have de-restricted it and it seems this is the contributing factor as everyone else seems to be having no issues with it.
