  1. Thanks again. I cancelled that aliexpress order as it wasn't posted yet. Replacing battery after 2 years wouldn't be bad, to be honest I never assumed they will last that log anyway as I fully charge it and discharge within couple of hours of my part time courier work, every other day. So I go through battery cycles way faster that average/recreational user. But safety is a key here, live in a flat, bikes is in a living room, no garden, no shed.... Don't want to overheat it with some crazy 10a charger and cause fire that's crazy difficult to extinguish. I'm looking into different lipo battery safe containers/bags now to keep them in there just in case. Any suggestions here?
  2. Thanks for your reply Nealh. I don't know much about batteries itself and assumed that if 5-8-10 amp chargers exist it's fine to use them, and small 2.5 amp ones are shipped together with batteries just bacause they are cheap. Its bit odd that my phone charger output is 4.5 amp and massive ebike battery only 2.5. I use my ebike for deliveries so on busy day I drain two 17.5 amp/h easily and have to stop for a day. Thought I can quick charge one battery while using other and have ultimately infinite power at my disposal. Guess I need to consider third battery maybe.
  3. Hi guys. I've got 2x 17.5 amp/h batteries 48v, and it takes a long time to charge it using standard 2amp charger therefore o got myself fast charger off aliexpress 48v (54.6v max) 10 amp. So in theory should be 5 times quicker fully charging my bike in less than 2h. Is this safe? My wife is concerned that I'll burn down the house because it's 5x more powerful than regular charger. Is any one of you using fast charge? Any experience issues with increased amp chargers?
  4. All sorted, big Thank You to guys at Woosh Bikes. Cable was replaced, got my first build together finished just an hour ago. Test drive checked, no errors all good
  5. Hub drive. Bafang 48v 500w. Upon further inspection I discovered the root cause (I think I did). I pulled away springy coil that sits on cable comming out of hub, and discovered some broken cables. See pics below. Now that explains error 9, motor phase wire. Does it have anything to do with other error? Error 13 temp sensor inside battery faulty? Or is it all because those wires? And most importantly, is it fixable.
  6. Hi guys. Im shattered. I got a conversion kit of aliexpress. Good seller 98% good reviews. And battery from wing bikes. But it doesn't work. After hooking everything up motor doesn't start, when pedalling. Throttle doesn't work, it seems like it's going to start and wheel moves half inch and stops. Display shows Error code 9 fault with motor phase wire. And also error 13 fault with temperature sensor inside battery. Also display doesn't read any battery stats. Any suggestions?
  7. Hi Guys... A time has come when i think I'm ready to put my Halfrauds Carrera Subway - E to garage and upgrade to something better, build for my needs. It was cool bike, but cant get around those thick tyres, and 15 mph assist limit. So I'm bringing my road bike back to live, going to sand it off to bare aluminium, spray it in black matte (some primer off course and clear matt coat to finish it off. Wack a rack and some commuter bags at the back, and whats most important I will need to electrify it That's where the problems start. I never installed a kit myself. I don't think assembling it will give me any trouble, its just putting all parts together. Right controller, all the cables, all stuff that I don't even know I need. I've seen kits like this EBAY Bafang 500w Rear Hub, but I don't really trust ebay, especially when they say that this is 470 RPM with max speed 38-40 km/h (23-24 mph). Seems like it should go quicker with that high RPM. Think I might save few quid and get what I really if i buy directly from reputable source like pswpower. Can you guys help me put all kit parts that I will need to buy? I want to go for bafang rear hub geared 500w engine. I'm hoping for 23 mph minimum, to 30 mph max speed. Quicker it is better i guess (its cool as long as i can control max speed with settings within display) so I guess I need a specific controller for that. I'm not worried by weight and I want great range so I want big battery, I have 48v 17.5 Ah in mind. Twist throttle and pedal sensors off course, and one of those nice colourful lcd displays (think its P750C that I really like). I've currently got V-brakes, but but might upgrade to mech disc brake (at least front) in near future, so I will need some mechanical break leavers or sensors. Rear hub should be already mounted onto the 700C wheel as lacing it myself scares me If someone has similar setup or knows good supplier and cant point me to right parts, cables, extensions it would help me greatly! Thanks in advance guys!
  8. Thanks guys. Didn't expect so many replies so quick. As I'm not feeling comfortable changing battery mount not to even mention controller, and this is new generation of batteries as cyclebuddy says looks like I have no other option than stick with getting halfrauds 500quid battery.
  9. Hi all, sorry for newbie questions but I'm brand new to ebike world. Just bought Halfords Carrera Subway E, and I'm not 100% happy with range. I'm squeezing 30 miles out of it when on steady setting (2nd assist level) and if I go to high it drops down to 20 miles only (halfords wepage claims 60 miles range! That must have been on eco setting with a rider strapped in with helium balloons). So I was wondering are there any battery upgrades for this bike. I wouldn't like to change battery mounting bracket, so I can possibly still use oryginal battery and just swap it when it's dead. I asked at halfords but they only have stock ones and they want £499 which is outrageous.
