  1. nice to hear somebody speak from real life experience
  2. I have a trek with V brakes and they are plenty good enough at 15mph, in fact it locks out if applied to quickly in the wet so perhaps better tyres needed. Can a cassette be fitted to a freewheel
  3. at what assist level and did you have at and are there any hills to contend with
  4. what about the SWX02 48V rear wheel with 48V 12AH battery: £569
  5. I was enquiring about VFR400 reference to buying from china.
  6. I thought all motors had to be 250W in uk to be road legal, so if a 1000w motor is powerful enough surely nothing will be ? I have checked out the woosh at £570 - is a little pricey what chinese ones would you recommend? Mdoodles - not looked at middrive units - is it easy to fit - need any special tools - I can only find 500W models, are these legal in the uk.? I can charge my battery at work after the commute there so it wont have to do more than 1 x 15mile journey before being fully charged again I am not expecting it to carry me to work without any pedaling, just for it to give me a hand on the tough climb and when I am flagging on the second half of the journey. How do they actually work, I ve seen some provide 80% of required pedaling or do they just pull you along to upto 15mph backing off power the more you pedal upto 15mph and once at 15mph do they they stop providing any power.?
  7. Im a big unit - 21 stone 6'2" unfortunately where I live in the country side the roads are really rough and knock the hell out of me on the cannondale contra so might choose my old trek 930 antelope instead for the front suspension but its fairly heavy bike to start with - not that it matter with my weight on it
  8. hi. I'm looking into converting my canondale hybrid into an e bike and would like some suggestions on which kit or bits to buy. it will need to do 15 miles min on a charge in the depths of winter and be a able to steadily climb 140m over a few miles.
  9. I know how you feel I changed from a trek with some cheapo suntours to a cannondale rigid lefty and my wrists never forgave me
  10. out of interest I have a good cannondale Contro 4 hybrid but with a lefty fork, what sort of price would I be looking at for a road legal rear wheel kit (700) with a 15ah battery. and I also have an old trek 420 antelope hardtail with 26" wheels
  11. sorry realised I never actually introduced myself so thought I would try to put it in the right place
  12. Hi all, new to e-biking and looking for a bike for a 15 mile commute to work (one way) I am 6 foot 2 inch / 21 stone / unfit / needed for year round cycling / rough country+ town roads / 140m climb on return leg for last 7 miles
  13. I dont fancy a step through , a bit old fashioned looking for my taste but beggars cant be choosers as Im a fat bugger
  14. sorry I slightly over estimated the climb on the return its not 400m its actually only 140m LOL flatish for approx first 1/2 of route - I would imagine this will make a big difference on the battery drain
  15. The Woosh camino looks good with a 50 mile range on a 15 Ah battery - 17 Ah are out of stock but would get that for the extra £50. Are these road legal in the UK with it not being a twist and go throttle
  16. Hi, I will be able to charge the bike at work so a lower range bike would be ok
  17. roads are a mix of very rough country and town roads so some cheap front suspension will be in order.
  18. Hi all, looking for some advice on what bike could be suitable on a commute to work for the next year as I have got a driving ban. Im am a unfit, 6 ' 2", 21 stone lump who needs to commute to work on a 30 mile round trip. Getting there will be a struggle for me although mainly down hill - the return on the other hand I will need a lot of help especially on the last few miles with a climb of 400m I have looked at the Halfords Apollo phaze https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/electric-bikes/apollo-phaze-electric-mountain-bike-17-20-frames mainly down to cost and it seems to have a good warrenty but there is a guy selling a 2nd hand giant escape hybrid 1 near me for the same money obviously no warrenty
