Chain length
Evening All, (to coin a very old phrase ;-) ) In the interest of saving me from getting very oily hands, does anyone happen to know roughly what length chain I need for a Haibike full sus bike? I'm just wondering if I can get away with a standard Shimano 114 link job, or do I need to get 2 of them? Many thanks.

Replacement Battery
Go to these people - very good and helpful. https://www.bga-reworking.co.uk/ Just email them and ask about re-celling. I had a Bosch one done quite recently for a very reasonable price.

EddieO's Reise & Muller
Hi Ryan. Good to hear from you and I hope you're all well. I also knew Eddie, both through here and a motorhome forum - in fact we both bought similar bikes and vans at around the same time. I'd like to see the bike as I remember coveting it when your Dad got it. I was going to have a play on it but he fell ill before we could arrange it. We're abroad now but I'll give you a shout when we get back at the beginning of September. All the best to Smitta, Amie and yourself, Hugh

Lack of full suspension tour bikes
You could have a word with Martin at e-Bikeshop in Farnham http://preview.tinyurl.com/y969s8bo They don't do R&M, but have a wide range of e-bikes, and he does know his stuff.

Front suspension fork with long steam?
No, it's the same kind of thing as the first one you posted.

Front suspension fork with long steam?
I don't think that will work Cwah - that extender is only to enable an old-fashioned threaded fork to take a modern threadless stem. You need a fork with a long enough steerer tube to begin with. You'd be better looking for one that's too long and can be cut down, as I don't think you'll be able to extend a short one effectively or safely. Good luck.

Is this a new form of marketing???
Scott, maybe ;-)

Recell my Battery?
I can certainly recommend Insat (see post with link above). I posted a similar query a few weeks ago, and they were suggested. Did a great job at a very good price, upping my old 8ah Bosch battery to 14ah in the process.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors
I bought a bike off them some years ago. After Scott's last few outings, I won't be using them again. His intemperate responses on this and other threads in the past just make me feel that I'd hate to have to deal with him if I ever had a problem with one of his bikes. “It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” Mark Twain .

Haibike - minor woe
They look like a useful company. My last spare battery came from Germany about 3 years ago and cost more than these ones. Unknown lead time for production, but I'm guessing at a few weeks. Thanks for link.

Haibike - minor woe
Interesting idea. It's the same with a newer battery, although it's not that new any more, so maybe you're right. No way of checking sadly, short of buying a new battery, and they're a bit tricky nowadays because it's (relatively) so old that there's no knowing if a new battery really is new, or has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for years. Hey ho......

Haibike - minor woe
Hi All, I've got an ageing Haibike Xduro (2012) which still basically works OK, except it now only has 3 assist levels instead of 4. The Sport and Turbo modes are exactly the same, and I think I've lost the Turbo mode. Not the end of the world, but if anyone's got ideas for a (quick and cheap) fix, I'd be very pleased.

My bum hurts
Had all sorts over the years, but finally tried a Brooks B17 about 6 years ago. It was a revelation - I'd expected it to take ages to break in but it was comfortable from the start after a bit of preliminary treatment with Proofide, and it's got better with the years. So good that I got another one for my other bike - equally good.

Bosch battery re-celling
OK Rob, thanks for the offer but I think I'll leave it. My batteries still work - it's more a question of what I do when they stop, but that time may be some way off and it's probably not sensible to add another aging battery to the collection! You're better keeping it and, as you say, using it as a bargaining chip when you sell your bike. The ones I've seen appear to be genuine Bosch, though who knows really with eBay. All the best anyway, and thanks again.

Bosch battery re-celling
Sounds possible. How about £75 though - new Bosch ones are on German eBay for E299 and it's 4 years old. Any chance of meeting on Kent side of the river though, as I hate the Dartford bridge due to my fear of heights and subsequent vertigo . Somewhere around the Bexleyheath junction (no. 2) on the M25. We'd have to time it pretty neatly - easy or not depending on time of day

Bosch battery re-celling
Sounds possible Rob - I'm in Woolwich so near to A2. Depends how modest the consideration is, if course

Bosch battery re-celling
I'm in SE London Rob, and agree about shipping - a big PITA!. How old's your battery?

Bosch battery re-celling
Thanks All, sounds like this Jimmy chap at Insat International is the man to try.

Bosch battery re-celling
Morning all. Does anyone know of somewhere to get an 8AH Bosch battery (older type, from a 2012 model Haibike) re-celled? I'd like to avoid forking out for a complete new battery if possible. I have tried an aftermarket Chinese-made battery from Germany which is ok, but is supposed to be 10.4 AH and lasts no longer than the 8AH original. I'm not that hot on electrics generally, so I need a solution that involves someone who knows what they are doing rather than me risking life and limb by trying a DIY job

Is there a governing body to report a rogue e bike trader/retailer to ?
The bloke sounds like a complete crook!

EddieO R.I. P.
I was there today - David, you did a very nice little tribute to Eddie.

EddieO R.I. P.
That's good David - I know you knew Eddie for a long time and you'll do him proud.

EddieO R.I. P.
Very sad news today that Eddie O'Callaghan (EddieO on this forum until he spoke his mind once too often) died last night. He had been in poor health for a long time, although still motorhoming and e-biking, but became seriously ill with secondary cancer early this year and went into hospital a week or so back. It was very quick once he was diagnosed - probably better for him, but very tough on his family. I'll miss his knowledge and humour, as well as his sharp tongue on occasion - he was one of the good guys. R.I.P. Eddie, and my deepest sympathy to your wife and family.

should ktm bikes sell sclass bikes without proof of private land.
Tell that to the uninsured, unlicensed and underage kids tearing around our local woods and common on their mini trail bikes. All illegal of course and Plod never in evidence.
