  1. Don't worry about the bike! he is old school, no aftermarket mods sort of guy and restorer. This will be on a second engine and the Alton kit only fits Commandos...? So anyone got a Wrecked mid drive?
  2. Hey Guys, Not seen that solo starter before i will let him know and it is for a big twin. Have to say though that he is just investigating at this point and fancies more of a look at one than a serious consideration. An electric start is the preferred but getting a nice reduction seems to be hard. Cheers Staps
  3. He mostly interested in the package having both the motor and reduction. Its for an old 1960s Norton. He seems focused more on reducing speed.
  4. Hello Guys, My dad has looked at my tongsheng and fancies trying to fabricate a electric start for his classic motorbike. We are in the south UK. Anyone got a broken Tongsheng or Bafeng to sell? Will accept unrepairable! Thanks Staps
  5. Hello Guys, My dad has looked at my tongsheng and fancies trying to fabricate a electric start for his classic motorbike. Anyone got a broken Tongsheng or Bafeng to sell? Mechanicals are the focus really. Thanks Staps
  6. NP https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-firmware/TSDZ2_wiki/wiki Someone mentioned in my pedelecs thread an "pre made" cable being sold. If you need to get rid of one of those bikes and they are large, let me know. My bikes kinda on the way to have every part replaced
  7. No soldering / straightforward was what I thought! Also peter.c - Maybe I missed a post on endless sphere - it is over 200 pages long Haha.I would be very interested in that cable! as long as its not $40 + $20p&p and not really a $10 bafang cable! My understanding is that the 860C is really a bafang display and so is wired like one. see ( https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-firmware/TSDZ2_wiki/wiki/Wire-860C-850C-to-TSDZ2 ) The other thing is that with bafangs the throttle is stand alone and doesn't go via the display. see (https://bit.ly/30Gqb5L) and see how it connects via 3 pin to the cable in my ebay link (in first post). The only cable I saw on endless sphere was one of these banfang cables which ( maybe?) still requires splicing? ( https://bit.ly/2UJ0rC5 ) Thanks
  8. Hello Gavin, that is what im doing I am performing the firmware update to the 860c but trying to keep the mechanical throttle working ( which is what the 8pin model has over the 6pin). So from actually having it it front of me i have learned/ kinda guess right now The method detailed on the github site just has the 8 pin splicing to the 860c Display cable as does the 6pin does. Leaving mechanical throttle ( unused wires) kinda your problem. The 860c display does not have throttle bypass connections in the display that the Tongsheng came with. The opensource firmware actually has a software implementation of throttle via the soft buttons! So unless like me you have a want to get a physical throttle, get the non throttle Tongsheng and if needed press the buttons. Also be aware that with all the cable splicing etc its quite advanced to make it look good when parking next to 4k bikes at work. Thanks
  9. Please Help! before i spend more money on cables and time waiting for post from China! I am trying to use to use the "recommended" 860c display but cannot find one that uses a 8 pin connector are they all just currently sold out? Ok found a solution - for anyone else - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Pins-Y-Splitter-Cable-Cord-For-Tongsheng-Motor-VLCD6-XH-18-Instrument/293572793608
  10. Just chipping in but the open source firmware update is supposed to give increased power, responsiveness and battery life to the Tongsheng. See review how to - https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-firmware/TSDZ2_wiki/wiki/How-to-install-the-Flexible-OpenSource-firmware You can also do stuff like actively upping the peak amp limit ( do not go any higher than 18) On another note - you need a special spliced cable for connecting to the pc, If your in the UK maybe I could send it to you when im done or something, but that wont be soon as my model seems to have been looked over ( this will not apply to you with the non throttle model) Thanks
  11. The freego raptor seems to have been repacked and upgraded into the Analog motion am1
  12. Thanks guys for your advice I have a lot of armoured tyres, slime stuff and sanding time spent already. Damn pinch flats I might be the guinea pig then
  13. Hello All, Has anyone tried out the really cheap solid tires on ebay? 2 x tyres 23mm/700 for £13! I have a recurring puncture issue and now the rims are quite sharp from long walks with flat tyres, this is gonna write off the ebike. Better a hard ride than no bike. One thing is that the tannus tyres have lock-in tabs, i guess i will find out how required they are anybody have prior experience? These have probably been on the market for years cheers
  14. Thanks for that, I got it now. But I am only now realising that that you recommend a LG HG2 20a/3000mah over Mj1 10a/3500mah. These are essentially the same price at the moment. The original battery was 26F 5.2a/2600mah could l ask your reasoning for the HG2? Is it that the BMS does not control amps so it wold be better for the low power motor?
  15. Oh wow thats great advice, i will look into LG HG2 cells with Z tabs! I better get some really good shrink insulation. Not sure where the insulator ring is going though, did you really mean below the tab? Is this to get away from the sides (which are negative)Does that mean button top cells are required? I will definitely get some to go between the batteries never seen them before. Thanks very much!
  16. Hey thanks for the reply! Its just a 5.5AH battery but thats a massive jump.. it holds 9 cells. My previous quotes were for £250+ and seemingly these are a £5 each. I have seen all the stuff about spot welding, but gonna try and solder them. Maybe not as stable but why not at this price and the youtube videos look ok with a tight fitting case
  17. Hello All! I have an old Freego Raptor ( no new batteries now that are out of business) and am looking to Recell at home my samsug 26F batteries (on the cheap ish as the bike has constant punctures) I can see that other batteries have different specifications in regards to discharge rate, discharged time, max voltage, low voltage etc especially different brands Many times it been mentioned that batteries can recelled with higher capacity newer lithium cells but little detail is given. I am essentially thinking of Samsung 26F batteries for 30Q or another cheap battery and if anyone has first hand buying experience or a cheap legit source that would be awesome! Thanks Staps
  18. The controller is in the seat tube. Also did you try it?
