1. Thanks, I did look at those but can't find one. Also I'm hoping to buy it through my works bike to work scheme (Halfords) and they don't take the vouchers.
2. Ah, I see my replies are out of sync. Thanks sjpt for the Motus info.
3. Agreed, I see the woosh folks involved quite heavily in this forum and they've been great answering my emails. If they still made the Rio FB I'd have ordered by now but quite a few companies make a more standard hybrid. I found quite a few woosh videos and reviews from customers, but only website reviews for Motus.
4. So I'm torn between the Whoosh Camino and the Raleigh Motus and looking for opinions or alternatives. I'm 110kg, 5'8 and I'm looking for a bike to commute on so it needs to be able to carry me and probably 10kg of luggage. My budget is £1500. My route to work is either 8 miles of rolling tarmac hills or 4 miles of tarmac hills followed by 2 miles of hilly forest track. So I think the Whoosh big bear is out as I worry about the front hub motor on the forest track (gravel, mud, tree roots). The Whoosh camino has a rear hub, the Raleigh has a crank drive. I think I prefer the idea of crank drive (I have the impression it's better for a fat bloke on a hill), but Whoosh have been great at answering questions and offering advice. I can't test drive the woosh as I cant get to the store. I could probably text the Raleigh but I have nothing to compare it to. In all honesty I'm sure either of them will be fine but as I don't really know what I'm doing I thought I'd ask for opinions. Feel free to chip in.
5. Any recommendations for an ebike with fat tyres? I like the look of the RadRhino but can not get that through the bike to work scheme. Woosh do a Rio FB but it looks like they don't have them anymore. I can't find any others that look similar although I'm sure there must be I'm after something with a similar appearance - big rugged workhorse that's happy in the mud and roads carrying me and my stuff to work. Many thanks, Steve
6. I'm looking for an e-bike for commuting to work. I go over a mixture of road hills and off road mud and dirt track. i use a regular mountain bike but I'm heavy (120kg) and slow on the hills (5mph) and the narrow, fast twisty road means most times cars come flying round the bend to find me slowly chugging up the hill. There's a bend full of smashed wing mirrors where the road narrows. I think an electric bike will get me up the hills and out of the way quicker and more safely. I like the look of the 250W RadRhino - the chunky utility look and fat tyres appeal to me (I also drive a big old Defender), and I think it would suit the road and dirt track commute to work. My work are taking part in the Halfords bike to work scheme and I know I can use those vouchers at some local bike shops, but I was just wondering if anyone had experience of buying a bike like this via the scheme, or could recommend a similar bike more widely available in the UK. Many thanks, Steve
