  1. Hello again! It's nearly 2 years since I started this thread so I won't be surprised if no one replies but I am giving it a go! I have had another child so I will be carrying an extra 11kg plus weight of bike seat up the mountain! I have been messing about with grins ebike calculator and just a normal bike calculator online and going through my very rough calculations i think if I put a 30 tooth cog at the front and a 52 tooth cog at the back I can easily get up the mountain. My question is...how do I do this? I have seen adapters for the front cog for the bafang. Presumably this is so you can just buy any standard bike chain ring and attach? I have also seen a double cog bafang chain ring (not sure if I fancy it or not though. For the back I have seen obviously full cassettes. But I was wondering if I could just buy one big cog that attaches to the back of my current cassette? Then I would need a new chain I think wouldn't I? As you can see. I am a bit clueless. I am also in Turkey right now so getting things posted is tricky. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  2. Literally just been on a ride and it dropped one bar then almost instantly went back up again. It struck me as strange but what do I know!
  3. The three batteries I have are these ones and I think I bought from this site. I don’t know if you can read Turkish. I certainly cannot! My boyfriend is an electrician and assured me it would work and it does! But maybe I could take his voltage testing machine on my next bike ride and check it’s working to full capacity as you say. I wonder how I would do that? Maybe I could make a diy rolling road with a steep incline!

  5. Ah ok. I understand. That doesn’t sound practical! Colour screen doesn’t seem worth it to me. The quality of the battery doesn’t affect the motors power does it? My boyfriend ended up connecting x3 Samsung cell hoverboard batteries together and putting them in a bag! it was the only way! It works. We really exhausted every option. Could not get one posted to Turkey and could not find one locally either. Then we found someone who made them but decided it could be a scam as they conducted business over what’s app and wanted us to wire the money straight into their account. that was the final straw. So then he made one!
  6. i have a little bit of grass is greener syndrome so I may have to! Maybe I could revert it back if I don’t like it? If I do programme it would the top assist level assist me anymore than the top assist level I have already? Not that I need anymore of an excuse to be lazier than I already am! How much a top spec controller cost to go with a bafang 01? Is it worth it?
  7. I did wonder whether I could upgrade my controller I have a c961 and I’m not sure how to work it properly. Does it just have assist 1,2 and 3? I was under the impression there was some sort of sport mode. you don’t need to program it do you? If so I have not done that.
  8. UPDATE! I finally got a battery sorted and got to go on my ebike yesterday. Tried just going up the mountain. No child with me as he is not allowed out at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. I managed it! 7 miles up a mountain. The battery symbol didn’t go down one notch. I was in number 3 full power on the motor and gear 1 on my bike the whole way up. I am super unfit and it was really hot yesterday mid day so I did find it hard but I did it! I didn’t stop! Hopefully I will just get fitter and fitter. Going to try the other side of the mountain soon. Steeper gradients. Its great! I love it!
  9. I haven’t tried mine yet as I am still having trouble sorting out a battery but when I do I will tell you how it goes!
  10. Ok it’s in! But it wouldn’t fit any of my 3 front bike cogs so now I just have the 7 gears. I hope that will be ok. Also I hear a lot of swearing from my boyfriend because apparently the threads are rubbish.
  11. mine has a lot of grooves in it. My boyfriend has gone to town to get new dremmel bits now
  12. Just trying to fit a Bafang BBS01. It won’t slide in. My boyfriend thinks he can fix this by ruining the frame a little. Is that the right thing to do? Any help appreciated!
  13. Having trouble already. It won’t slide in. My boyfriend said he is going to ‘ruin the frame a bit to make it fit. I don’t like the sound of that
  14. Update! I have my BBS01 Bafang Motor. Going to try and fit it today. Then I am going to order. 36volt 13ah battery. Wish me luck!
  15. should I just buy the best battery I can afford in the drop down menu? does the watt of the battery have to be 250 to match the motor or can you go higher? Then can I get any controller or does that have to match up to the battery and motor somehow? Seems strange to go for 250watts when the 250watt hub motor didn’t work out for me but I think I’m getting it now. Mid drives are different and the higher you go the faster your legs must go. And it’s about torque and so on... At least with 250watts I won’t have to deal with all the legal jazz!
  16. So I haven’t ordered yet and I’m pretty sure this is the wrong setup for my bike. Not sure what the right set up is! But added to my cart on green bikes.com to see how much shipping is to Turkey. It’s £112. Does anyone know what set up to go for? The form asks questions I simply don’t know the answer to.
  17. thanks I’ll give it a search but as I said I’m not sure if I like the feel of a hub. If that makes any sense!
  18. Th Thank you. All useful info. So say I were to get the Bafang 01? I set the heating low then or as I am riding? I don’t know about the hub. He was a lovely guy I hired it off but didn’t speak much English and I don’t speak much Turkish so we matched! As you say they are rare it probably wasn’t 201rpm. I’m definitely going for a mid motor anyhow. If anything I think I will just like the feel of it more. Felt a bit out of control at set off with a hub. so a Bafang 500 watt? That will do the trick? Concerning the battery do I get a 500watt to match the motor or can I mix and match? Bit confused on that front. I have heard the controller has to be good and was going to opt for the best one available. How do you decide controller voltage?
  19. thank you for the comment! It’s good to hear a piece of real experience of the motor! Which one is the next one up? The 02? whoosh said in one of the early comments if I go with a more powerful motor it might create more heat and the more powerful the motor the faster it likes you to pedal? Is that right? Trying to get my head round it all! I just have a bit of trepidation about going for a 250 motor as I hired the 250 hub motor and I didn’t manage it. Maybe I should go the slightly longer route with the less steep incline. anyhow it’s all about the torque right? Enough torque and low enough a gear? If I want to go steep but not fast?
  20. Yo Your tandem sounds amazing! yer I’m not sure about this bike. Just bought it out here. back home I have this bike... http://www.chargebikes.com/plug-1/ I want to bring it with me but the boyfriend said no. House building things are apparently more important! *eyes roll* I would have had to put disc brakes on her and she also has no gears. I wonder if I can transfer the Bafang I might be buying to her at a later date? she is nice and light.
  21. He also suggested a front hub motor. But said some people don’t like to do this as there can be a risk of accident. But said I could go for a lot of watts with this option and it might be good to balance out the weight as my child is on the back.
  22. I just spoke to a local supplier and they showed me a motor that is on the back cog. I wasn’t pedal assist. I don’t think in Europe these are allowed. You can pedal if you like but the motor will work without you pedalling. They also said it’s really hard to get anything from China at the moment.
