Kalkhoff pro connect S
I still have one of the original 2008 Pro Connect S bikes. It assists to about 21mph. I also have a 36v 2014 model that assists to about 24mph and is a lot more powerful than the older 26v bike. Both have the excellent Panasonic motors.

Kalkhoff Panasonic 36v Bike or Battery
Hi, I’m looking for a 2012 to 2014 Panasonic powered bike or battery. It’s the rarer 36v model I’m looking for and would be interested in either a complete bike or just the battery. The Swiss Flyer of around the same years uses the same motor and battery so I would also be interested in one of those bikes. Please get in touch if you have one and are interested in selling Thanks

Brexit, for once some facts.
Polly, if you’ve got nothing new to add please GTF. Many of us enjoy this thread.

Urgent help please with rattling Kalkhoff battery.
I know this was asked some time ago but this may help others with the same problem. I used double sided tape to stick a 1mm piece of shim plastic about 6 x 12mm in size where the lock latches. This got rid of the play. I also wrap a narrow Velcro strap round the battery for extra support.

Brexit, for once some facts.
Happy Christmas to all the regular contributors to this thread. I look in every day and have learned a lot and been amused a lot! Being a Scottish Nationalist and pro remain, I do worry for the future though.

Chain wear?
Hi Bear, The 11 speed and 8 speed have the same 11t high gear and I would be surprised if a 34t low gear wouldn’t be sufficient on most electric bikes. Still I guess the larger steps between the gears wouldn’t suit everyone.

Chain wear?
If your not doing off road riding, you could consider converting to an 8 speed. I did it on my 10 speed Pro Connect. Being a stronger chain, it lasts longer and is much cheaper to replace. I’ve always found the 8 speed to be easier to set up too and perfect for commuting.

Ten years with Kalkhoff Panasonic
Glad to hear your still enjoying your Oxygen EMate George. From the posts I’ve read on the forum it’s a very good bike. For years I thought my 2008 Kalkhoff had plenty of oomph but I had nothing to compare it to. I found it a big step up in power when I acquired the 36v version. If I remember correctly my 26v Pro Connect gives 1.5 x rider input, my 2011 Agattu x 2 input and the 36v S is 3 x rider input. I’ve changed the motor sprocket from 14t to 12t for even stronger hill climbing and it still gives a 24mph top speed which is as fast as I can spin the pedals anyway. As a leisure cyclist my bikes have seen very little rain but by all accounts the bikes handle commuting fine with 20k mileages not unusual.

Ten years with Kalkhoff Panasonic
As Flecc has said previously it was probably a cost cutting exercise which badly backfired. The 36v Panasonic motor is superb. I went for a quick ride on my old 26v bike, to keep it turning over, and it felt very limp as I’m used to the fast and powerful 36v motor.

Ten years with Kalkhoff Panasonic
Shortly after I joined this forum in 2007, Kalkhoff launched their Pro Connect and Agattu models which quickly became very popular with forum members. When the S version came out in 2008 I took the plunge and ordered one at £1900. It was a lot of money for me but the day I ordered it I decided to stop smoking to pay for it. I didn’t really think I would succeed but I never touched a cigarette again, so buying a pedelec has probably saved my health never mind the £££’s. I’ve done about 6000 trouble free leisure miles on it, including camping and towing the excellent Burley Piccolo tag a long. There’s some great, quiet, cycling routes where I live but most are fairly hilly so the electric bike has been a real necessity for me. I did think about upgrading to the Impulse model and I’m so glad I didn’t as the Panasonic motor has proved much more reliable. I have since purchased a second hand step through Panasonic Agattu for my daughter which I now use myself when out collecting for my local Hospice Charity. I’ve also acquired a 36v 350w Pro Connect S which is superb. It has XTR components instead of the already good, XT on the earlier model. The power is amazing and I can take my steepest hills at 10mph as opposed to 6mph on my original bike. Although when used liberally I can drain the 504ah battery in 20 miles. The batteries (I have six) are all doing well, even my oldest at 8 years doesn’t seem to be down much in range. I do store them all at 50% charged and swap them about so they’ve not had hundreds of charges. The 36v batteries charge twice as fast as the 26v ones which is very handy. Sadly my original Pro Connect doesn’t get out much now as my 36v newer model has so much more power and speed, which although I don’t use much, is good to have for certain situations. I’ve done a few mods over the years including changing the 36v bike from a 10 speed to a 8 speed as I think 8 gears are plenty on an ebike, plus the chain is stronger. Although Bosch has taken over as the main propulsion I’ll be sticking with my Panasonic bikes as I don’t think the latest bikes offer any significant advance and even after ten years, are no lighter. I’m turning 60 this year and wouldn’t be surprised if they outlast me.

Tmars Sp-475 Seatpost
Has anyone tried one of these seat posts? They look similar to the popular Suntour SP12 but have a bit less travel and are a fair bit lighter. I can’t find any reviews anywhere.

E-Zee Riders - The UK’s first Land’s End to John O’Groats electric bike holiday specialists....
I just had a look at your E-Zee Riders website and am very impressed. I've been thinking about doing Lejog on my ebike for about 8 years but it's not easy to find someone to do it with and up to now, there has only been supported road bike tours available. Doing this iconic trip on an electric bike would take the pain out of the journey for older, less fit folk like myself and still give the pleasure of the changing landscapes and sights. The prices also seem very reasonable when compared to non ebike tours. I wish you every success with your venture and may well book it up myself in the future.

Did I buy the right size bike?
Providing the stand over height is comfortable, it’s a cheap fix to change the stem and bars to get your ideal stance.

Strange Problem with 2 week old 705SE - 30 miles on the clock.
There seems to have been bit of miscommunication but hopefully you’Il get back on the road soon Anthony. There are a number of very helpful dealers on here and in my experience, on this forum, David and Wisper are right at the top when it comes to after sales service.
