  1. I purchased a Kalkhoff in August 2018. I have ridden about 10,000 miles on it. It is hard to say exactly how far I have ridden it since the display unit has failed and been replaced 3 times - and this has been the start of my problems. I've had 3 battery fails, one motor fail, two control switch fails and as a result the bike has been unusable for about 15% of the time I have owned it. Up to now, the retailer has grudgingly replaced parts under warranty but now, just outside warranty, the battery has failed again and the quote is £700 to repair. My feeling is that the bike is just not fit for the purpose I purchased it for - to ride regularly in mixed Scottish weather. The retailer accuses me of "tearing out" the cables from the display unit, whereas actually what happens is that the cables are under stress because of the angles they are forced through and therefore split. The retailer also says I have damaged the bike by transporting it unprotected on the back of my motorhome. With the greatest respect to any motorhomers, I wouldn't be seen dead in a motorhome and on the few occasions I have transported the bike on a rack on my van it has been fully protected - Fiamma cover plus old waterproof clothing around the parts I would consider to be vulnerable to water ingress. Does anyone have similar experience of failures on a Kalkhoff Endeavour using the Impulse system? Does anyone have any experience of successfully arguing a case of "not fit for purpose" under the Consumer Rights Act? Any help or advice welcomed. Happily just received my new Ribble
  2. I have a Kalkhoff which I've had for under three years but it has let me down so many times it is going back under 'sale of goods', 'not fit for purpose'. I'm on my third battery, second motor, third display unit (which needs replacing again) second control switch (which now doesn't work at all) and all whilst being looked after and serviced properly. Unfortunately it is the Impulse System and I now realise if I'd researched properly I would never have purchased. So, replacement on the cards and I am definitely going Bosch this time. And then I come across Ribble Electric Hybrid and I am taken by the look and the lightweight concept. But obviously it isn't Bosch. So, thoughts please. I am willing to be talked out of it. Anyone with experience of Ribble - what happens about servicing and repairs if you live 200 miles from their nearest outlet.
  3. Now on my fourth major problem. 1 Battery failure, 1 display failure, 1 control switch failure and one weird one where the motor was cutting on and off irrespective of whether I was pedalling
  4. Hello, just joining. Perhaps should have joined 2 years ago and asked for advice. Dodgy ankle, bad back, asthmatic, so an e-bike should be the answer. Purchased a Kalkhoff two years ago and love it. Regularly do 40-60 miles including big hills. BUT - it is so unreliable! Currently getting its 4th major repair and unlikely to be back quickly. Anyone else had any of these issues: Battery failure after 6 months - replaced Display unit failed because I cycled in the rain - replaced Switch unit failed - replaced And now, having been out and having the motor cut in and out, run when not pedalling and run at top power when freewheeling downhill at 25mph (scary and dangerous) the motor isn't running or driving at all. Dealer says it is battery again - can't see how that is possible as the display says all charged and ready to go and the lights work. Anyone else had anything similar?
