Scott E-Sportster
While browsing for a new mountain bike, which will probably be a Scott, I noticed Scott now list a Bosch-eqipped E-bike. Anyone tried one yet or seen reports? They look pretty nice.

Don't tell my Wisper -in love with another bike!
Pink My mother used to have a 'Pink Witch' bike. But my dad painted it red and we called it the Red Bitch after that. I doubt I would be seen dead on a pink bike myself but I do think it would be nice to see a bit of colour (my own bike is grey...). I do like the retro look of white or whitewall tyres.

E-bike prejudice?
Car drivers are the worst When I mention to people that I'm getting an electric bike, it's always my car-driving friends (the ones who don't go anywhere they can't go in their car) who are first say, "But isn't that lazy?" Excuse me? And when did you last get on a bike, or even walk further than from the house to your car? It's like they think I should always be getting excercise because I'm on a bike. Sometimes, bizarrely enough, I just WAN'T TO GO SOMEWHERE. If I'm making a meal, let's say, and realise I've run out of xyz, I don't think to myself, must get some EXCERCISE... No, I just want to get to the shop and back quickly and easily. If I could drive I'd probably go in the car, admittedly, but I can't, so why shouldn't I have a bike that makes basic A to B transport easier?

Tour de presteigne - anyone go?
>BEBA are in talks now with the Presteigne guys to try and arrange a London event next year Oh, not London! Hold it up here in Yorkshire then we can see how these bikes handle some proper hills. Why does everything have to be in London?

Tour de presteigne - anyone go?
Presteigne - Where? >The big problem with Presteigne is the difficulty in getting to the area, Douglas (my business partner) came from the New Forest by train and bus and it took him nearly nine hours! Exactly my problem. No idea where Presteigne is even, but I do know one thing: to get there I'd have to drive. But I don't drive, which is why I'm interested in electric bikes... Hmmm.

Wireless electric bike...
First Wireless Electric Bike To Launch In US - BikeRadar Including wireless brakes (yikes). It looks like an April Fools joke, but who knows?

What colour would YOU like to see on eBikes?
Can we have a choice? If they're all to be the same colour, then I'd prefer black or dark grey. But if there was a choice of that or, say, electric blue, I might dither.

Helmet debate... new twist
Sometimes you need a nanny I bought my mother (she's 65) a helmet for her birthday. She rarely rides her folding bike but two weeks after I bought her the helmet, she fell off her bike and banged her (helmeted) head on the concrete. She was fine. A few weeks earlier, and she wouldn't have been. She was very pleased I'd made her wear a helmet. I can understand why people don't want to be told what to do by the Government, but sometimes the resulting benefit is worth it.

Which bike? I'm confused!
Thanks Thanks everyone. That's very interesting. I'll start to follow all this up pretty soon I think.

Which bike? I'm confused!
I'm thinking about getting an electric bike, but can't decide a. whether I should get one at all, or b. which to get. I currently ride a 24-speed Ridgeback Velocity hybrid – nothing special but a decent bike that I feel comfortable on and by far the best I've ever had. I'm not the world's fittest cyclist and rarely do more than 20 miles. I live in West Yorkshire and my local terrain varies from quite hilly to horribly hilly. All the hills are uphill, and we have special winds here that blow against you no matter which way you travel While no hill defeats me, I can't say I find it very pleasurable slogging up a 1-in-4 in bottom gear. It's okay if I'm in the mood, but often I just want to go somewhere with minimum effort and arrive not needing medical attention. I don't drive, so I need to use the bike for all kinds of things. So, whatever electric bike I get, good hill-climbing is my number-one priority. Would I be better getting something light, like a Cytronex equipped Cannondale, or something more powerful and long range, like a Kalkhoff? Even though I only do 20 miles now, if I had an easier ride, I'd like to go further. I like the look of the Kalkhoff Pro Connect 27g (the price scares me, but I might pay it if it was superb). Or would I be able to manage my hills on a regular Pro Connect with the 9 gears? Is the assistance strong enough to make up for the lack of gears? The first hill I encounter on every ride (20 yards from my front door) is an unavoidable 1-in-3.5 cobbled street. How would an electric bike manage on this? And is there anywhere in West Yorkshire (Aire Valley region) to try these things out? I'm wary of buying mail order without trying one first since they're so expensive.
