Protective Gear
Hi Guys, We all know cycling gear can be expensive. I am looking for a cycling jacket that is packable in case a shower comes on. It does not need to be 100% waterproof as that can make the material thick and therefore not very foldable. I am looking for something that will pack small enough to fit into a rear rack bag and is decent, but will not cost the earth. Thanks

Bike Insurance
Hi Guys, Just looking for some sound advice on insuring our e-bikes. My wife's is worth £1200 and mine is worth £2749 and they are stored at the back of our house in an Asgard bike storage unit. WE use the bikes for leisure purposes only but when Covid-19 restrictions allow (and the weather improves) we will be heading out to places new thanks to a tow bar e-bike rack. WE are also hoping to get on a cycling holiday in Yorkshire this year. Can anyone please advise which bike insurance we should be looking at? Many thanks

Case studies - how has your electric bike changed your life?
Hi Helen, I bought my e-bike to cycle the 18-mile return journey to my office. There were 2 main reasons for doing this: - 1. My office was moving further into the Centre of Glasgow so parking would have been VERY expensive 2. With the Covid-19 crisis hitting, I did not want to travel on public transport. I bought the bike on a Cycle to Work scheme when my employer intimated that there could be an imminent return to the office from home working. I spent a small fortune on buying decent waterproof/windproof winter gear for the commute, but a it turns out my employer did not require me to return to the office after all and I have actually now left that job (after 47+years)! My new job is based in Edinburgh so I won't be cycling to work, that's for sure. I had to pay the bike off on leaving, thus losing the tax and NI easements and as I had gone for a reasonable spec on the bike it was a bit of a downer having to pay it off in a lump sum. On the upside the bike is fantastic and I love going out on it, albeit not too far with the Tier 4 restrictions in Scotland. My wife also has an e-bike and we put a tow bar on my car to house a tow rack so that we can head off to different areas to cycle, again this has not been the case as yet in Tier 4, but we live in hope. Hope this helps

what shoes to buy
Hi Guys, I am looking to buy a pair of decent cycling shoes for my e-bike journeys. I am looking to flat pedal shoes as I have been advised to stay away from cleats by a good mate who is a keen cyclist. Does anyone have any ideas please, I quite like the look of the SHIMANO SH-ET5 E-Bike Shoes but am worried about the sizing? Thanks Brian

Hi Guys, I am new to e-biking having just bought a Giant Fastroad E+1 Pro 202 via my employers Cycle 2 Work scheme. I love the bike and am amazed how it makes light work of hills, I just wish I had it 6 weeks ago when my wife and I went to the Borders for a cycling holiday and I was knackered while she had HER e-bike and was passing me going uphill!! We'll end up back at the Borders as it was terrific with some lovely, quiet B roads to cycle on - and very few potholes. I would like to ask a serious question if I may, does anyone ride their e-bike for leisure/commuting that has changed to cleat pedals and shoes and would they recommend their use. Also would I go for MTB type shoes and cleats foe easier walking when off the bike, I'm thinking of winter coming in and slippery pedals? Many thanks

TBH, no it's not that hilly, it would be struggling against the win d and rain that would make the e-bike essential. I'll have a look at your recommendations. Many thanks

Hi There, Just found your site when it came highly recommended on the Internet. I started to cycle again when the Covid-19 'lock down' began and my wife and I try to get out at least 3 times every week. I currently ride a 7-8 year old Cannondale Hybrid and I love it, it's a superb bike but it's a tad heavy at nigh on 16KG. It's great to ride, but nightmare when I try to get it on the roof rack of my old, rather tall SUV. I stay 9 miles west of Glasgow and I'm currently working from home. My employer has moved right into the centre of Glasgow so I will not be driving my 3 days per week (partially retired) due to parking costs (once told to return to the office environment). This has led me to look at e-bikes, but it is a minefield. I work for the Government and my employer has a £1000 limit on the Cycle to Work scheme, nonsense I know as e-bikes are allowed under the scheme. However, there are a couple of ways around this and one of them is a scheme embraced by my employer called Cycle Solutions. This has allowed me to look at bikes around the £2000 mark and I'm willing to consider up to £2400. I hope you guys can provide me with some suggestions. I have looked at Ribble because of their weight and the Cowboy 3 and the Vanmoof X3 because they are so different in appearance. The Cowboy 3 may be too tall for me as I'm 167cm tall with a 77cm inside leg and the bike is recommended for 170cm and above (Cowboy say I will be fine so if there are any Cowboy 3 riders out there of similar stature to me I'd love to hear from them), Vanmoof have terrible customer service and I have read some bad reviews about the bikes breaking down. I would obviously like to deal with a British supplier due to service and repair needs and I am hoping you guys have the expert knowledge I am looking for and have some suggestions for me.... Many thanks
