SELLING - Green Edge Blackstar 11
I bought a Greenedge Blackstar 2 about 10 months ago due to a slipped disc. I am now buying a moped and am looking to sell my much loved E bike. The bike has been brilliant and is very reliable and fast. It's in great condition, battery new when bought, and has recently been serviced by Greenedge (nothing needed doing apart from tightening the brakes) - written service note from Greenedge in Battersea. I bought the bike from Greenedge - http://www.greenedgebikes.com/electric_bikes.html- for £1195. Will sell for £700 cash. I am based in Notting Hill, London. Please bring passport and a credit card as security if you wish to take the bike on a test ride. Without these you cannot try the bike out. If interested please email kikiandzaza@gmail.com. All enquiries most welcome. I have added some bumpf lifted from the Electric Bike Shop web site. PRODUCT INFO The BlackStar2 has a unique place in the market for several reasons including its power to size, it's low seat height of 29" or 74cm approx, and it's low step through and centre of gravity give it good riding qualities. A gentle throttle and 2 levels of pedal assistance give you superb control. Level 1 of pedal assistance is perfect for the flat and crusing long distances while level 2 gives you an instant and sustained power boost for challenging hills or a quick start from the lights. The oversized tyres give you confidence around corners and make the bike lots of fun as you roll around the bends like a sports motorcycle. It also has the LOWEST step-through of any of our folding ebikes. Ideal as a simple lightweight folding bike with lots of power for the steepest hills. Also very suitable for the shortest riders due to the exceptionally low sitting position that can be obtained (that said there is plenty of adjustment to get the bike suitable for tall riders too). A very, very impressive bike. Battery 36v 13AH Lithium-Ion Battery i.e. 30% larger than most ebike batteries. Charger: AC100v-240v, 50Hz -60Hz Currebt <1.8a Charge Time: 4-6 hours Motor Power: 36v - 240w geared brushless motor in rear wheel hub Tyre size: 20" x 1.95cm width Frame: Lightweight Aluminium alloy folding frame in Black Start mode: Zero start Max Speed: 15mph/24Kmph Gear Shift: 6 Speed Shimano Rated Load: >75Kg Mileage: pedal-assisted: average > 31m/50Km, electic only +/-25m/40Km depending upon conditions. Advice For A Lady Please!!
Fabtastic Thanks so much Flecc... That was a hoot to watch. I will go to the Electric Bike shop in Camden and try one out. The look is very similar to the Blackstar but I like the fact the battery is on the back and not so obvious that it's an electric bike ;-) Just need to try and sell mine now which may prove harder than expected. It's just had a service ay Green Edge so all working fine. Much appreciated everyone.

Advice For A Lady Please!!
Blackstar 11 Hi Bode, I started out with an ex demo Silverado bought from The Electric Bike Shop near Camden. I had problems with that bike (handlebars and problems with the battery) so I contacted Green Edge who were much more helpful than The Electric Bike shop. They changed my model for a new one for no extra cost. Then after a while the spokes of the back wheel came off one by one so Green Edge changed them for much tougher ones. After a while another problem arose, can't quite remember what, so Green Edge offered me a Black Star 2 for a little extra cost (throwing in my Silverado) so I jumped at the chance. I have had this one for about 10 months. The problem really has been every time I had a puncture (back wheel always!!) and took it to a local bike repair shop the bike would ALWAYS come back with a problem. Rattling here and there and now the electric motor cutting out. Green Edge kinda solved the problem as it looked like something that connects under the battery had rusted away so they changed it. It seemed to run better but the problem was not 100% fully solved so once again I had to travel back to Battersea. They have kept my bike over a few days and now say it's working fine and couldn't find any problem with it? Strange. I have enjoyed riding the bike but I just want to try something new now and was wondering if there is anything better out there. I cannot Fault Green Edge and their customer service. The battery seems solid and I cannot fault that either. I do feel very safe on The Blackstar 2. It's frame is almost like a mini motorbike.

Hi Bode, So good to hear from another Blackstar rider. What are your overall thoughts on the bike? Did you get it from Greenedge in Battersea?

Advice For A Lady Please!!
I guess Notting Hill is the steepest.. from Ladbroke Grove.. I cycle about 6 miles a day in and around London. I also would love to take the bike to The New Forest which has a few steep hills. I know because when I was there with a normal mountain bike I had to push the bike up most of the hills LOL

Explaination Thanks for taking the time to explain. The hills are average.. My mechanic at Greenedge thinks what I call hills are just dimples LOL

Thanks David, I will need to surf the net to actually understand the difference between Hub and crank as, being a complete novice, I have no idea what your talking about LOL I have attached a link to my bike: Electric Bikes Is this a hub motor? ;-)

Food For Thought Wow.. Thank you so much everyone. I will digest all the posts and get back to you. I guess when I say hilly I am being a wimp! Some experienced cyclists whizz past me on normal bikes and put me to shame LOL! I think my legs, since riding e bikes, have turned to jelly! I guess my price range depends on what I can sell my Greenedge Blackstar for.. They retail at £1195. I must jump in and say the support from Greenedge has been top notch. It's just a shame they are not close to me so it's a hassle having to go there. I did have a Silverado but after problems they changed it for a Blackstar 11 which is a much better bike. I just feel perhaps there are better bikes out there now for me now. I would be willing to pay around £1000 I guess (Hoping for £600 sale on the Blackstar 11??). I would like a step through bike and the handlebars have to be high (not racer style) where I can keep my bike straight. So very much appreciated!

Advice For A Lady Please!!
Hi, I am looking to buy a good electric bike to replace the Greenedge Blackstar 11 that I currently have. The Blackstar 11 is a great bike and has two speed choice, up to 15mph, and 6 gears but the downside is that it is heavy and also I have had a few problems with the electrics. After it's latest service I feel it's time I bought a different make. I am a petite female who uses the bike to travel locally and for work (quite hilly in places) but also enjoys ebiking in the country on long distances (with my charger of course) All the new 2010 bikes I have been looking at are too expensive (£1500 - £1800 upwards) but I feel sure someone can recommend a much cheaper bike which has a good record and is known for it's ease of ride and speed on hills! Look forward to any advice. I am London based if that helps!! Thanks.
