Tongsheng thumb throttle
Hi, From memory when I had to replace a control board I it was is sealed with a layer of resin so not sure how soldering the wires in would be possible, I could try grinding the resin down with a dremell I guess until I get to the connections ?

Tongsheng thumb throttle
Its ok as I only ride mine of road on private land however I see lots of Delveroo bikes bombing around when im in my car at speeds well over the 15mph limit where I live and the riders dont even touch the pedals but nobody is policing them. No lights, go through red lights etc. One rule for one................

Tongsheng thumb throttle
Thanks for the response, think I understand now. I think the easiest option would be to hot wire the throttle direct into the control circuit board. From memory I think I would only need to remove one cover from the motor.

Tongsheng thumb throttle
Hi all, Totally confused about adding a thumb throttle to my bike. I have seen various comment about this, I have a TSDZ2 motor, the cable coming out of the motor ie controller has six pins, I have a VLCD5 display, 48V Battery and 500w motor. Question: Will a thumb throttle work by just plugging it into the middle socket at the back of the display? If not what do I need to do to make it work. Thanks in advance. Phil

TONGSHENG VLCD-5 : No speed and only one bar of battery showing on display.
Hi folks, Hope someone can assist. I'm having a bit of a problem on a Tongsheng conversion I did for a friend. After riding for approx 325 miles he noticed the speed wasn't showing on the display and the battery level only shows one bar although the battery itself was showing three lights on the push button at the time? Apparently it has done the same thing while on another ride he went on but it sorted its self out. The assist levels are still working and the motor still gives power as normal. I've checked the display inside for loose wires(none found), shorted the positive /negative motor terminals, checked all the connections and even tried my fully charged battery on his bike but still has the same issues. I've also noticed the system isn't shutting down automatically if left for a time without riding. Any ideas?

Intermittent power delivery from TONGSHENG TSDZ2 mid motor with torque sensor
Hi all, As usual I forgot to update you all, apologies. I was a little apprehensive to say the least on my decision to replace the motor controller rather than the torque sensor , just an educated guess really. Ok then a strip down of the motor , original controller out and brand new replacement motor controller installed, motor rebuilt and re-fitted (no bits and bobs left over which is always a good sign) power on and the display on, so far so good.no loud pops or blinding flashes. Level assist 1 selected , foot on pedal , push down , bike moves forward and continues to move forward as I keep peddling , select level 2, yep still all seems good, skip level 3 and straight to level 4. BONZI the bloody thing is working. Long test ride next over 20 miles of varied surfaces and the motor performed impeccably I am pleased to say. My friend has now be riding the bike for quite a few weeks now and is thrilled to bits with it agin. Anyone in the market for an old US controller? Would look nice as an exhibition unit.

Intermittent power delivery from TONGSHENG TSDZ2 mid motor with torque sensor
Well I dragged myself into the garage at 11.15pm , removed the battery , disconnected the wires and then proceeded to short the motor cables, result not a squib , nothing at all , Zilch spark. I just hope the voltage was so small it didn't have enough umph to create a spark but has reset the torque sensor. I couldn't swap the battery over as the cradles are different to mine so have decided to swap the cradles over as well just to rule any battery issues out. My guy feeling is it is the motor controller that is shagged (to put it mildly). The saga continues.

Intermittent power delivery from TONGSHENG TSDZ2 mid motor with torque sensor
The issue is even apparent on the flat. The battery pins seem ok but I am going to swap out the battery with another from my bike to see if makes any difference. If the symptoms persists I will check all connections again , if that doesn't work then I guess the only thing it can be is the onboard motor controller or torque sensors ? One thing to note , when setting off from a standstill the motor is giving full power but then this defiantly reduces as you peddle on and there seems to be a reluctance in the motor that you have to peddle against.

I swapped the display for a working spare I have but same issue. The LCD is staying on when the power delivery reduces (it doesn't actually cut out, there seems to be a kind of resistance when it happens as if you are peddling against the electrical flux in the motor). Ive re adjusted the Magnet / Sensor , this made no difference. The battery pins seem ok but I am going to swap out the battery with another from my bike to see if makes any difference. Intermittent power delivery from TONGSHENG TSDZ2 mid motor with torque sensor
Hi All, I recently converted a friends Orange 5 mountain using a Tongsheng TSDZ2 mid mounted motor but after about 500 miles he has been complaining that the power delivery is cutting out. Ive checked the bike over and everything looks ok so I took it for a spin and there did seem to be an intermittent issue with the power in that it would indeed drop out a little at times but not consistent. I did notice the rear tyre was under inflated (in fact in nearly had me off on bends)so wondering if this could confuse the controller? The bike is fitted with a VLCD6 so not a lot of functions available to play with as far as I am aware. Im not sure if it is possible to check the torque readings on this unit? Any advice would be most welcome.

Hi All, new to the site and have a question.
Haha , no but I did actually fit the disc on the wrong way round at first because I had the bike upside down at the time but fitted it the right way round in the direction of peddel direction.

First Conversion Specialized Tezla Banshee
Hi Thought I would have a go at converting my old Specialized Hardrock just as a project and fact finding mission. I bought the cheapest kit available 1kw rear hub and a 52V 17.5 Ah Battery. A bit of overkill I know! Not a straight task as many have you believe. Various mods required but not a real problem. Flipped the switch on completion and off like a banshee. With it being a cheep kit there wasn't a PAS level assist setting or screen with it so it was either ON or OFF. No fun when you are on a ride out with a buddy on an organic bike. Caught me out a couple of times, head butting a tree on one occasion. Thankfully had a helmet on. Connecting the speed restriction wires for road use (250 Watts) meant the battery lasted for 40 ish miles on a good flat ride day. Bike now Sold and moved onto my second project.

Hi All, new to the site and have a question.
Hi, This is the second PAS sensor I have fitted, didnt make any difference to the issue. And the gap is fine as well as the connections as was the first one I fitted.

Hi All, new to the site and have a question.
I have fitted a 1kw Voilamart ebike kit but the power delivery when using PAS isn't working. I have changer the sensor but this didn't help. Can any tell me what I should see on the LCD Screen at the different power levels ie 1-5 as all I see is random power figures flashing up now and again and power cuts out nearly all of the time. I think I know what I should be seeing but just want it confirming. Ive asked the supplier to send a replacment controller. Any one help with this?
