  1. Just a quick update. Went out for a ride at the weekend and the freewheel began working again following some hard pedalling on a steep incline, then froze up again some time later following another incline ! Will try flecc's idea but looks like it's going back. Thanks again for the advice.
  2. Ahh, now I understand. I looked to see if there was a problem with the freewheel on the back wheel but thanks for explaining this to me. It makes sense now. So you wouldn't suggest I try and unjam it ? Is it a pretty complicated job ?
  3. Just to add previously I recall you could backpedal and the assistance would stop, now once the assistance has kicked in I can't back pedal as I meet resistance and it just keeps driving me forward for a time.
  4. Hi Alex. Thanks for your reply. The bike is still under warranty. It recently had the rear sprocket replaced as the other one sheared off. Ran fine for a couple of days and then this. I'm not the most technically minded but I'm completely stumped !! It doesn't have a display.
  5. Hi Guys, I have a Kalkhoff Agattu Impulse HS8. I love the bike but just developed a niggle and wondered if anyone had any ideas what might be going on - I'm hoping it's something simple ! Pedal assist is working fine until I ease off on the pedaling and I can feel it pushing my legs round and carrying on providing assistance ! It does this for about 10 seconds or so or until I apply the brakes. The effect is most pronounced when easing off from higher speeds ! I've had the rear wheel off and on again but that hasn't made any difference. If anybody has any ideas it would be a great help. Cheers, Steve.
  6. Yes, so true David :-) The Wisper cut an impressive sight as it handled his over-generous proportions with ease ! Could have been smoking a pipe in his favourite armchair... He looked a satisfied customer as I pulled a wide one round him.
  7. I'm exactly the same ! Always looking for a chunky hub, slab of lithium, feet freewheeling backwards uphill, or the reassuring flicker of a tell-tale LED ! The other day I saw a huge guy on a wisper smoking a fag and making a very lazy effort at pedalling. A poster boy for the 'Why Not Just Get A Moped' dimwits..though I suppose it's trickier to smoke through a helmet :-)
  8. If only Ezee did a 14 or 15ah LifePO4 battery I'd be slightly happier to part with 500 quid..
  9. I don't know the size and weight of the batteries but I'm sure Dave at Kudos can give us that information. 2 10ah batts work out about the same price as Ping option but with greater flexibility. Dave also suggested I upload an image of a kudos battery so others can perhaps advise on the easiest way to connect it to an ezee bike ie. does the battery case need opening etc. China is a long way to exchange items but I've read people have had good experience doing this.
  10. Very interesting info jhruk. Those Ping batteries sound great and that's brilliant after 20 months. Been talking to Dave at Kudos about wiring in a 10ah rack battery and keeping another as spare. Ping are sounding extremely impressive though and thanks Roger for explaining how to wire it. I think it's great that Li Ping offers such good after sales support. This is so important and alot of the others don't seem to get this, with grainy little images of wires and confusing instructions. It would only take 10 minutes with a good camera to make things clearer. Customer service swings it for me.
  11. Hi Eddie. It's a fair point. I was getting around 40 miles out of my onbike 14ah lipo (which is nearly 2 years old now and still fairly good), so a ping 15ah is certainly tempting if it can perform to a similar level but over a longer period. I practically live on the bike though and it would be nice to have a battery that could maintain that 40 miles per charge or so for a good long period. Back in my youth, before a nasty bout of glandular fever led to M.E. which I've just about beaten (I thought my riding days were done, until I got the electric bike), I was riding in excess of 300 miles per week on the racer, so I'm a bit of a range monster, but I know there's a happy medium with regards to handling and a great clunking battery. Ps. having said all that, Roger (username Bode) has just kindly messaged me with some glowing feedback on the ping 20ah lifepo4. So there's lots of options which is great. Incidently his feedback on that battery is here... http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/10046-new-ping-battery.html Decisions, decisions :-)
  12. Thanks Jerry, I will do. I'll also message some of the buyers in his ebay feedback to see what their experience has been.
  13. Incidently, I've received very prompt, friendly responses, with excellent english from the ebay seller I mentioned above. So I think I may take the plunge at that price..
  14. The battery is a nice neat fit considering you've got 20ah there, and that range info is very encouraging. It becomes so economical with a decent enough range. Will keep you posted on how I get on with my replacement battery. Just in the process of getting rid of the car...which will make for an interesting winter ! E-biking is pretty amazing though and I'm kind of looking forward to giving myself no other option every day. Hopefully I'll still be saying that by january !
  15. Thanks for your reply. I think I may give it a go at that price. 6.8kg doesn't seem overly heavy for 20ah so I'd probably try it on the rack. I know it's been said a thousand times before but I just don't understand why a 14ah battery is 500 quid in the uk when it too is coming from ....china...I know you get a warranty, but it seems like an expensive warranty to me. It's frustrating isn't it when you try so hard to save money and run into brick walls ! Either a flat batter or a flat wallet :-) Ps. How are you finding the Ping battery is working out range wise ? What bike do you have it on ?
  16. Hi everyone. Just wondered if any of you technical guys could help me. I have an Ezee Forza and I'm looking to buy a Lifepo4 battery. I know Ping batteries have a great reputation and am considering that. I just wondered if this battery might be worth a try, but I'm not the best with the technical specification. Fairly light for a 20ah battery and the feedback looks good. Any thoughts on this one ? LiFePO4 36V 20AH Battery Charger BMS Rechargeable Power Outdoor Scooter 7-8 Week | eBay
  17. Hi Frank. The BMS battery looks an interesting option at £250, though I can certainly see the benefits of the standard batteries too. Are there any links anywhere for wiring diagrams for these BMS batteries ? How would you go about wiring one to a bike with standard ezee battery connectors ? I have limited electrical knowledge, but am eager to learn. Surely it can't be so difficult with the right bits. Thanks, Steve.
  18. Hi Tony, well I can report this newest battery is proving to be a real winner thus far. I've really looked after it and it's performing admirably after a year, so I hope I'll still be singing it's praises this time next year. ps. all the best with next week. Hi John. 800 charges would certainly be very impressive. Would 3 years be a realistic time frame for 60% of capacity ? Do you envisage that time frame increasing in the future, like the panasonic batteries ? My only reluctance to take the double battery option is economic. I can certainly see the logic of running both, but I suppose I try to manage the single battery without thrashing it. I manage up to 40 miles on just the one, any further and I'd take the car I think. These batteries have a finite time frame don't they and if you look after 1 would 2 last that much longer ? Incidently, how much are your 14ah batteries ? Are there any plans for an 18ah battery ? All the best with the new venture. Steve. Ps. I think I bought my ezee off you just over a year ago. Best money I ever spent. It's been quite a revelation to me
  19. Hi David. Yes, that certainly does make it more of a close decision for you. It would be very interesting to know how the Juicy bikes compare. I'd also be really interested to hear if there are any further battery developments in the pipeline with Ezee ie. 1000 charge possbility or an 18ah would be fantastic - I don't fancy the double battery option. As it is, if the current 14ah battery managed say 600 charges at just 20 miles a charge, that's still 12,000 miles for 500 quid. So I'm curious to see how the battery holds up over the next year and indeed if it can manage a full 3 years reasonably well. I've read Flecc's battery road tests, which are very encouraging over the medium term. Time will tell I suppose over a bit longer. £500 for a battery does make you think twice though doesn't isn't it - especially when looking to save on motoring costs (indeed, I do hope soaring motoring costs don't tempt them into nudging the price up even more as a relatively cheap alternative to the car !). Every few days another Ezee appears on ebay with a dud battery (or more often than not they just don't mention it but the cyclepoint sticker on the casing gives the true age away ! ). It is hard to make a decision when the true longevity (in years) of the battery is hard to ascertain. I'm guessing 3 years if it's really well looked after, but that's just a guess and by month 36 I don't want me to be doing all the peddling cos doesn't count Cheers, Steve.
  20. Hi guys. I bought a 14ah battery for my de-restricted Ezee Forza about a year ago and in that time I've ridden it hard. On average I manage around 35-40 miles or so using the throttle for moderate assistance. The battery doesn't cut-out, I just call it a day around this point to prevent overtaxing the battery in the long-run. I think this is very impressive battery performance considering I'm 15 stone, though I do like to peddle a bit too. My average speed is 15-20mph, depending on terrain - the bike seems to have such torque with the more powerful battery. Its amazing that very few people seem to notice that occasionally you're freewheeling uphill - it's great to buck trends Yesterday I did 35 miles on it and there was no major drop-off in battery performance compared to last year. I'm really impressed with it. £500 is certainly alot of money for a battery, but if I can manage another year 2 out of it I think it was money well spent - as long as the price doesn't go up again, then I'd have to think about it. Happy e-biking everyone, Steve.
