Cyclamatic
Hi mooreb123, welcome to the forum. When you charge the battery, will it give you a full charge approx 4 hours? If you can go about a mile, it should indicate that the motor, controller and other bike sensors work fine. I would suggest: measure the output of the battery when you finish charging and measure it again after the cut out. Just to see if the battery is behaving abnormally. We have many experts here in the forum, so you should find some useful thoughts.

Chris Karasavvas Business Development 3E Electric Bikes
Hi Deano, We are a electric bike manufacturer, we don't manufacture battery. But we test their performance before we introduce them in our range. Lishen is well known for solid power cells and the class A cells performance fantastically on our bikes. Samsung is another maker of lithium batteries, it is not on our bike yet as we are testing them. Best regards

spelling error Hi Vectra, I made a spelling mistake replying your email you sent earlier on. The sport is 17.2 kg without the battery. 20Kg with the battery. Regards

Hi Flecc, yes..they are fantastic cells LiFeMgPo4. We have users using it for 2 years and still going strong. They are power cells, but low in capacity/weight. The parameter consistancy is brilliant. Since last year, we also explored low weight batteries, but we have a very strict rule for the battery manufacturer, only Lishen CLASS A cells as they are number 1 in China and most professional. We are testing out Sumsang CLASS A cells too at the moment.. did you come across them before?

3E CityLight MK II Throttle Only Road Test
Hi Flecc, the bionx system, do they use the water bottle mount? I have had a look at their mount....a little awkward for me. Battery mount like the bosch system, i agree, will not be suitable for step through.. I wish I would do a survey here...which one do you think people like the most? 1: Mounting in the front of seat tube (Bosch) 2: Panasonic mounting 3: Bionx mounting 4: Back carrier mounting regards Frankie

3E CityLight MK II Throttle Only Road Test
I see. I visited SB when I went back for chinese new year. I think they have good research team ...people who want to find out more about improving their motors.. But rumor says they have copied the design of MD ( Min da ) motor with the planetary gears. SB initially used metal gears, but due to noise, they now change to Nylon...which is much better even though it has question of its strength. Just rumour, within chinese e-bike industry...haha but SB are now very good motors as they start partnership with a Controller company to produce hall sensorless motors.. frankie

3E CityLight MK II Throttle Only Road Test
Hi Tangent, The motor is MD motor. I am not quite sure what you mean by SB... Frame size 460mm (18') Bike weight 23.5kg (including the battery) and battery weights 4.5kg The battery is locked in place like every other electric bike. HOwever, need quick release of the seat. We have tried some of the seat that can bend over. but some of them rattles, hence dropped the idea. Chain wheel 42 T rear cogs : 14-16-18-20-22-24-28 RRP 849 from only dealers. replacement battery 299.

Running in a new electric bike
Hi Alex Hi Alex, Yes they are from Wuxing, because none of the maker is big enough yet to have their own control unit made, which brighter ideas will become reality. But they are famous in making throttles anyway now:) Best regards Frankie Ps: alex, just wonder what bike you have got:)

Hi Flecc Hi Flecc, Thanks for the info! Personally big fan of the crank system, but a bit too complex for the consumers i think. but i definitely will learn alot from your site about the system.

Running in a new electric bike
Hi Alex Hi Alex, Yes we had the "diamond" frame on the old electrical system which we found difficult to service. That is why we start the new electrical system with the step through frame and later launch the step over frame based on the same system, which we believe will be better value for the customers also will become accepted. Moreover, there is a question we asked ourselves as well, What if there is an innovation on the throttle control or people prefer thumb throttle than the half throttle, does that mean people have to buy another bike to enjoy the benefit of the innovation? What if a new controller is developed and do people have to buy another bike? Wouldn't it be nice just to change and update the electrical components, after all, they use the same sensor and same control logic? I think the step through frame is becoming unisex frame now anyway. we will stick with one model for now and make it as reliable as it can be. Hopefully people will appreciate the effort we put in and the value we try to deliver. Best regards Frankie

Hi Hi Flecc, Sometime I also wonder, what if the chain is out of the chain wheel, will it affect the crank system? can it be restored? Best regards Frankie

Running in a new electric bike
Hi Allen Hi Allen, I don't know if you agree with me.. In my opinion, many makers have focused so much on adding complicated features like cruise controls etc where what they should focus is to make the bike easier to be fixed when there is a problem. Let's face it, electrical components of the bike are more vulnerable to damage then the mechanical parts. They should be made as easy to be fixed as possible so that you don't have to pay premium just for the retailers to fix them. Just my opionin, that is why I believe we have designed our one model as simple as possible and as easy as possible. City Light Mark II Best regards Frankie Ps: The panasonic crank system, how much does it cost to repair them?

Honest Advice Needed
I suggest if you would look out our model, we will soon update our website with the details ( it is not on our website yet, we think it is a different league). Reason being: it fits your requirement with half of your budget. Just got my company car, so will be able to drop by perhaps and let you test ride it. No obligation at all, I just want to know what people think as many people in this forum know exactly what they want from an electric bike just like you. Perhaps you can share with others your review on your test ride. Best wishes.

Electrical fault with Torq
Hi Matthew What I would suggest is to measure the terminal voltage of the battery and see what you get... Turning "on" the battery while charging shouldn't have affected the battery..

Battery Guarantees
Hi Dan, The website was not updated properly, the term was drawn when we were selling Lead-acid electric scooters and did not focus ourselves on designing our own electric bike. Of course at that time, we are not very familiar with Lithium-ion battery either and just followed what other makers have been offering. Lithium-ion batteries have higher number of charging cycles. Keep looking out on our site, we are launching our new model in May and the website will be updated with our updated warranty terms for lithium-ion batteries. We will be giving 1 year on the battery cover as standard with our new bikes and battery cover extended for another year with a small cost (it would be very reasonable I assure you). Just to save everyone in negotiations on whose fault is it for the battery failure within 2 years, which would be very unlikely. I think it is more important to have a well-balanced warranty terms than a enticing one just to make a sale. We've had enough of that, don't you think. Anyway, Dan, let me know your opinion

Me and Electric Bikes
Hi Tom there is a discussion on battery warranty in the forum tom and below is what I posted Making of electric bike battery involves 2 parties for most of cases. 1, who supply the cells, 2 who assemble the cells to make it either 36V, 24V etc whatever conpacity is out there. The warranty of the battery in most cases is from the second party. It means with the right selection of cells to make a battery set, right setups and right controlling logic, it should continue charging and discharge for minimum 2 years. However, for the first party, if the battery cells are supplied by a well-known manufacturer, it should maintain its life-span and capacity drop graph very close to the lab test data on them and they go by number of charging cycles, not time. Of course that will also depend on the usage, way of charging and the control logic. So 80% after two years i think the battery is considered very well maintained and protected and it should not be too hard to achieve. (depending on the number of charging cycles of course, if the battery is being charged many times and in constant usage, you would be lucky if it remains 80% capacity after 2 years in my opinion) ***************************** I can only tell you the cost of our replacement battery and you will find it out when I update our website. Different makers have different pricing policies. We intend to do it in two ways, if you need a SPARE battery, in which case we supply a complete new battery for you to change over when the other one is running out. Battery REPLACEMENT, we want to just replace what is inside the casing, in which case it will be slightly cheaper because you are not paying for the case again. Of course that differs from different makers and I think currently they range from 200-400 pounds depending on the maker. But in most cases Tom, battery can be repaired if they are broken down after 6 month because most likely it is the electrical problem, not the battery cells are damaged. I hope that helps Best wishes
