  1. Yup! This is definitely something I've noticed when I'm coming back with shopping. To be fair to it, it doesn't happen on the flat. But if there's the slightest hill that raises the front wheel up it definitely wants to lift.
  2. Looks like a very similar sort of design to the trigger bell. But without the large-ish bell shape of mine. Having said that, my bell is pointing down from my handlebars, so I’m not too worried about it being conspicuous.
  3. Sorry! I put the link in the name of the bell in the original post. But here’s a link to the site. https://triggerbell.com/ and to Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NZVQ49M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_RWRRXFMSA1RRHDWJVT70 I know what you mean about “bring-bring” bells, being from the Netherlands originally that’s definitely a thing I’m familiar with. Although as you say, the mechanisms can fail or easily get gunked up over time. As I say, my main reason for getting this bell was to get something that I could get to easily. And it definitely manages that! It’s surprisingly loud and clear for just a “flick it and hit it” type of bell.
  4. Disclaimer: I have no connection with the company. Although I will put in a link to them, I bought this off Amazon. If links aren’t allowed then please delete. So I just recently got my first electric bike, and of course the first thing I did was find all sorts of bits and pieces to attach to it! I don’t have a throttle on the bike, but with ergonomic grips, trigger shimano shifter, and breaks, my bell was an uncomfortable distance away from my hands. I’m used to riding a motorbike where I constantly have a horn under my right , so switching to a bike where I had to change my grip to ring the bell was uncomfortable. The trigger bell fixed that problem, it tightens up over almost any grip you have, and you can position it so it’s always to hand. For me, I’ve put it on the left handlebar so it’s not on the same side as my shifters. Now when I’m riding along I can flick it with my left thumb, more importantly, if I have to do any heavy breaking I can ring my bell at the same time without having to change my grip. It just uses a flat head screwdriver to tighten up (or loosen off when you’re fitting it over your bar ends). One thing to be aware of is that the the teeth of the strap are just plastic, so they *will* strip if you over tighten. This is by design, as better to strip the thread on the bell attachment than damage your grips. Anyway, just a mini review here. But definitely something I’ve been happy with!
  5. Yeah, we’ve had some frankly weird decisions made by Reading council. We’ve got a few new cycle lanes, but they seem totally arbitrary in where they’ve been placed. There’s one near me that I’ve never actually seen a cyclist on, it’s about 500m long, is a two way cycle lane that replaced a car lane, and ends with a t junction at either end onto a multi lane ring road. Bonkers. By contrast there’s not any money spent on maintaining what they do have...
  6. Looks like it has one hole in the middle, but I don’t see another. Might be worth a go though. I guess the second hold might be behind the quick release lever bit. Cheers for the find!
  7. So I am slowly attaching stuff to my bike! However I have hit a snag. My rear rack has a tab on the back with two vertically oriented holes, 20mm apart at the midpoint. At the moment, I’ve jammed on a rear reflector. It was a standard seat post mount one, and the quick release jaws *almost* fit around the metal tab. At the least, they provide enough grip to keep it in place. Now I’ve read that 50 or 80mm horizontal holes are what you typically get on a rear rack. So I’m wondering if either I can get an adapter, or even better, if there are some rear lights/reflectors out there that will mount onto the 20mm vertical holes? Really just hoping to find something out there that is “plug and play” without having to mess around creating my own adapter out of thin metal! Thanks for any pointers!
  8. Hah, thanks for the quick answer! I had a nasty feeling that might be the case. To be honest I’ve already invested in a couple of rechargeable lights that I’m pretty happy with. But I quite like the idea of having *some* light come on when I switch on the backlight. Maybe I'll take the controller off next and take a look to see if I have any other connection on it....
  9. So I've recently jumped into Ebikes and got a Furo X Max, and I'm very happy with it However, I was learning all the functions of the controller that's fitted on this bike (CURTIS KD21C) and I've found that holding + on the controller switches on the screen backlight, but also is designed to allow you to switch on lights. Now my bike doesn't have any wired in lights, it just uses a AA front light, but I'm thinking it *should* be relatively straight forward to add a front (and rear?) light into the mix. As it's a new bike I'd prefer not to invalidate my warranty by stripping down wires, but there is a Julet green type connector (5 pin) that is easily accessible and connects all the electrics to the controller. Is it possible to find a light whose cable will just plug in between the male/female of this connector? Or am I looking at something more involved? As you can probably tell I am totally new to all of this, so any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Tom
  10. Hi Everyone, I just thought I'd step in and introduce myself. I have very recently purchased my first e-bike, a Furo systems X Max. I needed something that folded up for storing in my tiny studio flat, and at my girlfriends, and the cycle 2 work scheme made it considerably more affordable. There's definitely bits on the bike where you can tell it is a "first gen", but all in all I am very pleased with how it functions. I've added a folding lock, a pump, and a really nice rackbag/pannier combo to it so far. Though I'm now starting to get a little more adventurous and trying to work out if the controller will allow me to wire in a headlight so I can switch on/off from the display, pretty sure it's doable... but that's an exploration for another day! If anyone has any questions about the bike, then feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer. All the best, Tom
