  1. Powacycle windsor about 5 years old. used on rare occasions. Very good condition. lithium polymer Battery has been looked after well. color silver. £350.
  2. Reviewer: mike Purchased From: Wisper Electransport/ Kalkhoff50cycles Purchase Price:Wisper £1200/ Kalkhoff £2495 Time Owned: Wisper 2yrs/ Kalkhoff 2wks Local Terrain: Flat / few minor hills ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Strengths: Wisper hill climbing good/Riding when tired brilliant drop couple of gears and its effortless. Build quality is good, with few issues spokes have on numerous occasions come completely loose. only bike it has happened on. brakes poor. easily fixed. Kalkhoff quality excellent though lighting wire thin and poorly finished at rear light. Brakes very powerful, enough to flex frame and forks. Lights not yet tested but seem very bright. Hill climbing potentially very good, some times i fly up others not. Need to get used to gears, put it in wrong gear for the hill and it,s a pig. The wisper is much more forgiving. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Weaknesses: wisper/brakes/pedalling without power//rear wheel spokes pain in the bottom spent last two yrs with wobbly wheel had them straightened once, still came loose. lights supplied rubbish.grips not very comfortable. Kalkhoff/weak throttle speed. thin lighting wire, frame wire feed holes not sealed. pedalling without power not much better than wisper. battery run flats after 20 miles in high, penalty i guess for fast bike. (wisper gives much better range). horrible bulbous barrel grips, for me they cause numb palms. No extras not even a pump. Unless you count lights. for £2495 that's tight!. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary:This is just a brief comparison between the two bikes. kalkhoff 300w motor 24v10a battery. I like the kalkhoff though the gears take some getting used to, and yes it,s very fast. The manual says 28mph assistance cut off, and i don't doubt it. The big wheels of the kalkhoff absorb a lot of the road making riding a pleasure. Riding without power though is not much better than the wisper. Wisper 905se 250w motor. battery 36v14a. well as you would expect the kalkhoff has it in most aspects, except for quick getaway from the lights,. Throttle and pedal combined much quicker than the kalkhoff. When your tired the wisper is the better bike because less rider effort is required. Which bike do i prefer? the kalkhoff definitely has the speed, 25mph and more if you have the legs. It cuts 10 mins off my journey to work compared to wisper (5 mins faster than the excellent value synergie mistral, cadence for me was just right). Change the wisper motor for the 350w 16 inch geared rear dapush (off road use) and things should be very different. My workmate and i have ordered one though not sure when they are in the country. so the kalkhoff has it and so it should for the price. I think it will last many many years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall Rating (out of 10) : Kalkhoff 9 / Wisper7 This i am sure will change when dapush is fitted.
  3. Hi this is a brief review/comparison. Wisper 905se v Kalkhoff pro s sram Motor 250w 300w Gears 9 27 Speed 18/19 that's it 25 and more if you have the legs Hill climbing good v/good potentially very good, sometimes i fly up hills othes not. finding right gear is a learning curve. Riding when Brilliant! drop If you are tired not so good tired down couple requires more rider input, gears, easy throttle power not good. weak 12mph. Build quality Good with a few Excellent, though lighting wire thin issues, spokes and poorly finished at rear light. repeatedly loosen. brakes are powerfull enough to flex brakes poor, easily forks and frame. Lights not tried. sorted. No pump. This is just a brief comparison between the bikes. I like the kalkhoff but the gears take some getting used to. And yes it's bloody fast, manual sais 28 mph assistance cut off and i do not doubt it. The big wheels of the kalkhoff absorb a lot of the road making riding a pleasure. Riding the bike without power i found not much better than the wisper. Pulling away from lights the wisper has it, combine pedal and throttle, it's quick. Which bike do i prefer. Kalkhoff has the speed, ten minutes quicker to work, though the new 16 inch geared 350w dapush motor (off road) that myself and my workmate ordered could change that when it arrives in the country. The wisper is more fun to ride i can't bear to part with it. But For me the kalkhoff has it. appoligies for spelling and poor grammer. Mike.
  4. flying batery hello tim yes the battery was fully home, and the click was heard. no key was left in the lock.
  5. hello everyone. my partner has recently bought a kalkhoff agattu as a replacement for her synergie mistral. the bike has so far been reliable. but today the battery decided to fly off half way through her 6 mile journey to work. she always makes sure the battery is secure, listens for the click of the lock and checks by wiggling it back and forth several times. but today the battery ended up in the road. luck would have it there was no traffic or people around. the battery seems to be ok but very battered . this kind of problem would not have happened on the synergie or my wisper because they are caged. im worried because i have just bought a pro connect s. the thought of 400 quids worth of battery weighing 4kg flying off into the road or onto the pavement hitting a pedestrian is worrying. has this happened to anyone else? i think a bungie will have to be used to keep the battery secure.
  6. excellent mistral Have to agree with you on that one, faster than my wisper 905se, but very much more agricultural. The bike has been ridden pretty much flat out everywhere. The battery has done two solid years and still going strong, maybe because it has been kept topped at all times topped up. thumbs up for the bike.
  7. thanks for help & advise, aggatu gear battery probs. thanks fellas, would you believe it, my partner carole is happier with the bike today. She is now getting used to the differenent way power is delivered between the Mistral and Agattu. She used to ride the mistral flat out at times at a fairly high cadence, despite a hip problem. I have now ordered an eleven tooth motor sprocket, and will try it with original rear sprocket 21/22 tooth i think, and see if that suits her better. I had a look on e-motion site, and yes, they do say condition the battery by running down twice, so i will follow that advice to maximise battery life. I noticed the same advice elsewhere, and on pedelec. Pity there was not a higher ah battery available like a 14ah for greater range, though it might not fit the frame.
  8. Hello, I have a gearing problem. My partner ordered a kalkhoff agattu stepthru from 50cycles, she asked for a 19 tooth rear sprocket but they only had an 18 tooth, so she said yes to it. Since getting the bike she sais her bike is slower by ten minutes compared to her synergie mistral, and it is no good on hills or against wind, Any advise on suitable front/rear gearing giving good/reasonable speed and hill climbing ability. At the moment she hates the agattu because it is so much slower than the mistral which she was hoping it would come near to matching. The bike also has an underlying pulsing surge. on the Plus side it freewheels beautifully. Also when my partner phoned 50cycles about new battery conditioning she was told that the first charge conditioned it, and that was it, no discharging mentioned over the phone or in the manual. Do the batteries no longer need a conditioning charge?. Thanks
  9. kalkhoff pro connect s, frame size selection Hi Yesterday the 16th,i ordered the kalkhoff pro connect s 27 gear with 28 inch wheels . frame size 45cm my height is 5 feet 6 inches, inside leg 28 inches. Frame selection is not easy without actually sitting on the bike, has anyone of similar size bought a pro connect and selected a 45cm frame and found it fine. or gone for 49cm frame and have been happy with it. I will be fitting a sprung seat post to it.
  10. Thanks for answering my question. looks like the kalkhoff s model would be the best one. The wisper has the better hill climbing, though once max motor speed is reached you will not pedal past it without a great deal of effort. The mistral has less resistance at top motor speed allowing me to pedal past motor assist, it also reaches slightly faster down hill speed. But i still prefer the wisper it has a good build quality and feels like it will last years, The mistral for £520 is excellent value but will have a short life.
  11. Hi, i'm new to the forum. Had various electric bikes over two and half years. powacycle windsor, too slow. synergie mistral, fast and cheap. wisper 905se, not as fast over journey to work as mistral, it's a full 5 mins slower. but the wisper is very much better built and has by far the better battery. My question. Are the kalkhoff pro connect, and pro connect s motors exactly the same spec, or are the s models different internally, software or mechanically (beefed up). external i can see, hub v dérailleur. I would like to know because if its just external gearing the pro connect would be the better buy. I have 22 mile round trip to work. Tried searching site for answer but no luck.
