  1. Is it worth registering the lock with OnGuard or a waste of time. Richard
  2. Just bought the OnGuard 8001 Brute D lock and it looks a great piece of kit and it appears to be exactly like the Halfords one. Is it recommended to give the internals a good spray with silicone lubricant as I've read many reviews saying their lock had jammed.
  3. I've just been into Halfords and had a look at their D locks and their Advanced lock https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/bike-locks/halfords-advanced-23cm-d-lock-225478.html looks very similar to the Onguard Pitbull. Anyone know if it is and why Halfords rate theirs as Diamond whilst Onguard only Gold.
  4. Having scoured all the likely sellers I can't see any D lock which will go around my seat tube and the wheel and allow locking to something substantial. So I'm resigned to having to buy a 230mm D lock and just locking the frame to the rear wheel where the motor is. I guess I could buy a second d lock and then loop through the wheel one and then out to something solid. If a buy a cable is it better to have it threaded through the D lock or with a separate padlock?
  5. Hi Andy, thanks for that, I hadn’t considered an alarm. I was going to have a cable through wheels and lock but it’s the D lock I need to sort out so I can secure the bike to something substantial.
  6. I've got a Grand Camino ebike from Woosh and have been looking at suitable bike locks like the Abus Granit X-plus. The problem I have is that the distance from the rim to the outside of the seatpost tube is about 170mm. I could buy a standard u lock but then I wouldn't be able to lock it to a sturdy object like a lamppost or bike stands or railings in the town. I live in Weymouth and though you do hear of bikes being stolen I don't think it would be on the scale of an inner city. Any recommendations for a suitable lock?
  7. Yeah, the bike has a rear rack, didn't think about that. Cheers. Richard
  8. Just about to take delivery of my first ebike. What does everyone recommend for security locks. I'm looking for something which is not too have so can be carried in a backpack. Do you leave the battery attached or take with you? Richard
  9. There are several options available when ordering a Bafang BBS kit but can someone point me to a description on the operation and functions of each please?
  10. Bosch Performance Line CX
  11. Kalkhoff, but buying privately.
  12. Without riding is there anyway you can tell the coindition of the battery? It's a Bosch motor and battery.
  13. When buying 2nd hand how can you tell the condition of the battery? How long do they last? The bike I'm looking at is a 2017 model and has done about 3000 miles for commuting. Richard
  14. Has anyone bought from PswPower? If so are the duty and vat all paid true, or is there some hidden costs? Has anyone had any problems or warranty issues with Chinese suppliers? If so how did you get on?
  15. So do the regulations limit the power for 'old' converted bikes with new kits?
  16. Looks quite expensive compared to Woosh and Brighton Bikes.
  17. Considering a Bafang BBS01/02. Would you buy from a UK supplier or overseas suppliers such as AliiExpress, PWSPower or Chinese Ebayers. At the moment the UK appears to have no stock of motors or batteries. But offshore suppliers are around 7-10 days. If you buy from say PSWPower is it really duty and vat paid.
  18. You mention the KT advanced controller systems, but do all kits from Woosh need this or are the kit controllers good enough? I'm swaying toward a DWG22C or XF08 CST
  19. So cadence sensing it is, so that's one question answered but what about the others? Rear hub or mid-drive? 36v or 48v systems? Battery size to cover my ride type?
  20. Being close to 70 and the old leg muscles on the decline I would like to convert my 2016 Cube Nature to electric. I've spent many an hour reading numerous reviews, websites and forums and I'm still a tad unsure what type of kit to go with. I'm 6'-1" tall and weigh 96kgs. My typical ride is mainly on cycle trails and towpaths and we also take our bikes in the motorhome when touring in Europe. I would like the ability to do about 30 mile round trips with a mix of flat and hilly roads. My first question is rear hub or crank mounted drives.? I'm leaning toward crank mounted as I can retain my existing rear cassette and the reviews suggest it provides much superior power and smoothness. Secondly cadence or torque sensing. This is probably my biggest concern. I understand the basics of both systems and like the way torque sensing works but what happens if I run out of steam before I finish my ride? Cadence will solve this problem but will it give me enough of a workout? Does using the lowest power level overcome this problem? Lastly for the moment, 36v or 48v systems? What are the differences and what battery capacity will I need to suit my riding requirements. All advice would be welcomed.
