  1. Finally got some traction on this scandal. ‘The big problem is water’: UK ebike owners plagued by failing motors Repair business is booming as owners complain of their units needing to be replaced up to five times www.theguardian.com Lets hope we see some corporate ethos change re spares & design and not just a meaningless, throw away mission statement: The Guardian didn't include everything I wanted to expose but I suppose the lawyers said no. He mis-quoted me a bit and got a couple of facts wrong. I hope other consumer orgs pick this up now and run with it.
  2. Completed a decent ride this morning and all good. Phew, I didn't want to be hit for a new motor. Fingers crossed for later on down the road! I hope Bosch are providing all motor parts (like Brose do) by the time it breaks.
  3. Hi, Further to my Gen4 510 error, the update from V2 to V5 did fix it. I've not done more than a couple of miles as a test, but it seems fine now. Liking the extra power too. Had a big chat with the dealer and he said he found the correct Torque Sensors available from the factory in China. Does any one have the original part number please - which is written on the sensor? He also had 6 or so failed new & nearly new motors sat on the floor waiting to go back to bosch under warranty.
  4. Checked the button batteries, both read 3.3v. Must have been a spurious error message.
  5. There are many riders posting online that they have had Bosch motor failures at very low mileages, mainly Gen4, mine at only 800 miles! Some had sensors knocked out by simple crank strikes, leaning the bike against a lamp post or water ingress. Bosch do not release any motor or battery spares including sensors! New motor circa £700. The "Right to Repair" release of spares does not cover E-bikes. I believe these rediculous issues are due to design faults. Has anyone successfully used the 6 year rule for a failed Bosch motor and got a replacement FOC or reimbursed when out of warranty?
  6. Hi, After 4 years my CX Gen 4 bike is suddenly throwing up 510 errors which won’t clear even with Bosch battery removal & re- alignment of spoke magnet. Sometimes the bike will assist for 15 seconds sometimes not at all. If I ride with no assist, sometimes it will cut in for a few seconds. I once got the Purion message “Display Battery Charge”. On advice, I checked the Bosch battery terminals were clean. Online forums say this is an Electro Magnetic Sensor issue caused by outside magnetism which was corrected in the May 2021 Firmware update. I didn't get this update. My questions are 1. 'why would the issue wait until now to crop up'? 2. Are there other reasons for 510? TIA
