Front wheel removalp
Hi everyone. Bit of panic stations. We have 2 bikes a gazelle grenoble c7 2020. Kalkhoff agattu 2019. We also have the excelent Thule veloslide bike rack. Unfortunatley the bikes are to tall to get in the door. Have ordered tbe fork mounts to fut the bike to the rack without the front wheel in. My agattu has quick detach front spindle and the front rim brake has the lever to quick detach the brake to remove the wheel. The gazzelle has nuts holding the axle in thats easy enough. BUT the Rim brakes have no lever to quick detach. You cant remove the wheel without deflating the tyre. I have read the gazelle instruction manual online no mention of removing the brakes ? I have read on here that fiddling with hydraulic rim brakes can be problematic. Is there a way without dismantling the brakes etc. The bikes will be stored in the motorhome garage, but will be used so whats the best way forward? Thanks

Cycle route apps
Hi. Both got bikes now. Looked at a few apps. The sustrans on initial first looks to faffy.Anybody recommend mob apps that are easy simple to use. No just wanting your details to bombard you with emails ,sales etc. Any recommendations of routes in the North East and Lake District would be most welcome. We want to try out gravel tracks to. Easy to start with not to many hills. Both retired not that experienced. Our bikes are kalkhoff agattu and gazelle grenoble. Planning a motorhome trip to Holland, Germany. Moselle. Where the cycling is easy.

Sand in the frame?
Recently joined the forum. Just acquired 2 bike wife's is a gazelle grenoble 2020 7 speed nexus its like new. She's very pleased with it. Mines a kalkhoff agattu 2018 8 speed nexus with gates belt drive. The seat post which is supension is a fixed height. I was on tip top. So nipped off 3 cm of the frame to drop tbe seat. Easy job. I then tipped the bike upside down to get any alloy swarf out. Not knowing if the frame was hollow or sealed. A small amount came out OK. I banged the frame sides and where the pedals are to my amazement about 2 large cupful of find sand came out some in chunks it also came out near the pedals. I removed the Allen bolts on the pedals but couldn't work out how to remove the pedals to get the motor side cases off as sand was coming out everywhere? Banged until no more came out. Motor and pedals seem fine. Was this sand left inside when the frame was made , assuming it was cast. ? Should I strip the pedals, motor case to clear all of it? I know the motors are dear. I can only conure the bike hasn't been ridden on sand to fill the frame or am I wrong? Mystery?

Rider to rider coms
Hi 66yr old and wife, venturing on an ebikes first time still looking for bikes but also researching other equipment. I would like to know if you can get a lightweight headset that fits inside or close fitting inside the helmet like a two way walkie talkie . To be able to speak to each other rather than shouting and drawing unwanted attention. Preferably not connected to mobile phones Bluetooth or the like. Just simple easy to use radios ? I have googled it to death. Can't find what am looking for. Any help greatly appreciated.

Does wheel size matter
The seller has now checked and there 28 in rims. Panic over. So without seeing or test riding the bike it is a 2018 with 1437 mls on the clock and a 500w battery. Seller doesn't know how to check battery power capacity. Nor do I. Is that mileage for the year a risky purchase without seeing it?

Does wheel size matter
Looking for a e bike. Found a nice kalkhoff with belt drive. It has 25" wheels not the usual 28". The frame size suits me 6ft 2inch. Will the smaller wheels mean slower top speed more pedalling ? Or any other disadvantage?

E bike speedo
Hi I am new to this forum. My qyestion is regarding buying used e bikes. I see plenty of adverts for bikes with a speedo reading of total distance travelled like a car speedo. Can dealers reset these speedo and add a few miles back on to disguise the total distance travelled etc. Do I only buy if I can test ride etc. There are a few online dealers that will box it send it etc. If its no good then you have to send it back etc. Thanks Bigfoot.

Newbies
Hi. Newbie member. 64 Yr old male retired with motorhome. Having to give up my honda cb500x. Just had spinal surgery 2 weeks ago and due a right hip op soon. I bought a couple of freego folder leccy bikes 2 yrs ago. Useful as folders are. Gutless on hills etc. As the honda is going I want a pair of full size leccy bikes for me and er indoors, who wants to be out doors now. I'm a big fan of german engineering. So the list has been narrowed down to a step through frame. Bosch motor. Nexus 8 hub gears. So it's 1st choice Kalkhoff and 2nd choice gazelle. Pondering on belt drive v chain drive. Belt for longevity over oily chain. Does a belt make it easier to remove wheel fix punctures etc. Use will be road mainly with cycle path etc but not offroad mud tracks etc. I believe there called trek bikes? With a budget of £1500 ish per bike I am guessing it will be used rather than new. Frame sizing seems to be ambiguous. Per different suppliers? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
