  1. Thanks Flecc. Excuse my ignorance , but I assume the controller is the black box near the battery ? Will it be fairly straightforward to dismantle it and do I just cut the three wires ? thanks
  2. Thanks Flecc - OnBike think it may be a Euro spec bike and that the wiring may be different. They are unable to help due to their (at the moment) limited experience with Ezee bikes. The bike does not have the additional switch controller for switching from pedelec to ebike mode that the Torq 1 has. Seems like there's no quick fix. Is there any way I can fool the electronics into thinking that I am pedalling ?
  3. I've just bought an Ezee Quando 2 and would like to convert it to throttle-only mode as per my Ezee Torq Mk1. There is a very small amount of power (bike will creep forward) supplied to the rear wheel if the throttle is opened without pedalling but obviously I need to pedal for any real assistance. Can anyone advise if this mod is possible as I don't want to have to pedal all the time. thanks
  4. fishingpaul - thank you. I'm looking seriously at making up a similar pack. Your photos and any further information will be appreciated. Would I be able to use the existing charger or is that only suitable for Li-ion batteries ?
  5. fishingpaul - your cheaper solution seems very interesting to me. Can you please tell me how you made it up, size, how it is mounted and connected and possibly a photo. I'm certainly not averse to making one up with the possible savings to be had. You are right - I won't be doing many miles per year and only use it as transport when motorcaravaning so this could be an ideal solution. Flecc - thanks for your expert information - al least I know what I need now.
  6. Frightening prices - Just a couple of points : 1. Is there a warranty period on new batteries (Ezee) - I would expect two years to make it financially worthwhile. 2. From the information I supplied in my first post, can I now assume that my battery is at fault or could there be any other reason for the cutting out. I just need to exhaust all possibilities before purchasing a new one - particularly at these prices ! thanks again
  7. Thank you all for the prompt response. I have checked for loose connections and the fuse - all appears OK. The serial number from the battery is : JGJABB100184 How can I confirm the battery is faulty and what options do I have - sounds like an expensive one !
  8. Could I have some advice please. My Mk1 Ezee Torq (less than 100 miles from new) cuts out after a mile or so and when under load. Prior to this there is a slight clicking from the motor and then everything (including the led gauge lights) goes off. Switching off and on cures the problem then it happens again after a few hundred yards. Nothing appears to be overheating and the battery guage always shows green before it goes off. The battery seems OK and charges correctly showing about 41 volts. The red controller LED shows no fault. Very frustrating to ride and I have no idea where to start. Any help would be most welcome. thanks.
  9. John and Flecc - thanks for your responses. I've attached a picture of the Evolution - you will see it differs from the Sparta by having a rack mounted removeable battery. As far as my requirements go, I have few steep hills where I live so that isn't a big issue but I would like to take it on my motorcaravan so a light weight is desirable. However, having been used to the Powabykes I would still like plenty of hill climbing ability. Its true that my test ride in Belgium was on somewhat flat terrain so I wasn't able to test the E-move's capability in that area. Any thoughts on the new Schwinn Continental ?
  10. I've been lurking for a while so thought it was time to participate. Although not currently owning an electric bike, over the years I have had several 'Powabykes' and am looking for a new and more light-weight replacement. The usual ones come to mind - Torq and 905e but is there a quality electric bike actually made here in the UK or all they all manufacturered in China ? Seems like the reason is that the UK market is tiny compared with the Continent where bikes are the order of the day. I went to Belgium last week and was amazed at the amount of bikes (including electric) in use. No doubt the abundance of dedicated cycle 'roads' help there. In Middelkerke I happened across a large bicycle dealer who kindly offered me an hour's free test ride on the latest E-move Evolution. Riding this 22.5kg bike was a pleasure and the front wheeled motor was totally silent at all times - unlike the Torq I rode. The build quality of the bike was superb and all the usual accessories including lights, rack, chain guard and the integrated rear wheel lock were all included in the price. It felt like a large comfortable 'cruiser' with its 28" wheels, elevated padded handlebars, front suspension and sprung seat post. I examined the bike in detail and all the fittings were top quality and was told the bikes were manufactured in Belgium. Although only 24volt, the rack mounted Lithium-Ion battery had a capacity of 16amps giving a maximum range of 100km according to the brochure. I was sorely tempted to buy one there and then and load it into the back of the car but for two reasons ..... the dealer wouldn't budge on the price of 1999 Euros (£1352) and the fact that it had pedelec operation only (as per European law) so I just went away with the brochure. Checking the WWW revealed that you cannot buy one in this country (correct me if I'm wrong) as I was hoping, but I'm still tempted to go back and try a little more negotiation. I'm still waiting for news of the 905SE before deciding. Overall an impressive (but pricey) package and at the moment, in my opinion, better than current offerings here. Maybe if the 'pedelec only' operation mode can be altered ?...... Any comments would be welcome. Does anyone have an E-Move ?
