  1. I already have a camino and fine with the 40s just wondered if I could go wider in the future if I wanted to.
  2. Can wider tyres be put on the wheels that come with the camino or is it wise to stick with the 40c?
  3. Thought I read somewh Yeah but I read that if you are not going to be riding the bike soon its better to charge it to 80-90% rather than 100% and had seen someone say they had a device that you could select when the charging would stop so it wouldn't charge to 100%. Also read that you should try to run the battery to 40% or below before charging if you can to maximise the battery life. No idea if any of these things are true lol but as with everything you want to maintain it as best you can.
  4. Are there devices that you can run your charger through while charging the battery that allow you to set a charging limit? Sure I saw someone say this and you van set it to stop at 80% charge for example?
  5. On the flip side of this though would there be any issue in keeping it indoors overnight?
  6. Hi all, Just wanted to thank you all for your input and advice and let you you know what I decided in the end (nothing worse than an unresolved thread lol) I decided in the end to go for a prebuilt ebike and chose the woosh camino. Main reason was I just couldn't seem to find the right donor bike and I realised in the end I probably want an ebike and a good non assist bike and I was trying to find one solution that solved both which is not possible. So I've done my first commute to work yesterday on the camino and it ran like a charm. Meant I could coast to work in the morning and arrive sweat free and then pedal home for some exercise. Only thing I thing I noticed was a slight stickiness and a bit if a whistle from the front wheel so assuming I need to adjust the front brake disc which I've never done so that will be a learning experience. Did have a final question though. Where and how does everyone store their ebikes, especially with winter approaching? I have a garage but it's not the most weather tight and being up north the temperatures can get pretty low. Is it safe to store the bike and battery in the house overnight long term or do people have other solutions? Thanks
  7. Think I'm going with the camino rather than the gran camino but seem like there isn't too much of a difference.
  8. Nah don't want any more speed that that. Just want to get to work without needing a shower lol.
  9. Can I ask your reason for selling? Would you still recommend the bike or would you have gone for something else at the time in hindsight?
  10. I've done both and hasn't been my experience.
  11. That was my thinking anyway! Yeah that seems to be the general narrative. I do wonder though. They sell vastly more bikes than everyone else so you would expect to see more negative experiences. Be interesting to see if the ratio of positive to negative is actually worse than other providers/manufacturers. I've seen a lot of really good reviews of boardmans as well. On balance I don't think boardman have the right combination for me anyway as I'm looking for a 1x and they tend to be 2x.
  12. I don't find mountain bike very good for long rides on road which is why I was looking at the rigid fork hybrid range.
  13. Yeah I am going in knowing the chain will probably give out at some point with a mid drive but then you just replace it with something heavy duty right? Want to start with a decent set of hydraulics and decent shifters.
  14. So its decent but flawed as expected for the price range. Thanks for sharing. So they sound fine for the price point. What I don't know is how they and the other parts used compare with those used in the sirrus x 3.0. Its just total lack of knowledge and experience on my part but makes it difficult to what the better bike is. Maybe there isn't enough difference to matter?
  15. I didn't say that at all. I'm saying I already have the voucher. The voucher is for a set amount. I can't change that now. Once you have the voucher for the set amount you can't change it. I didn't make the decision to go with a new donor bike because I thought it would save me money. I just couldn't find any 2nd hand ones that were right for me at the time. So I applied for a voucher that would cover either a new ebike or a new donor and kit. And that's where I'm at now. Deciding which to go with.
  16. Yeah that was my thinking. Mudguards will be a must. How do think the The other bike on my list was the Marin DSX. https://www.biketart.com/products/marin-dsx-2024?variant=42092695781555 Not sure how the specs compare to the cannindale and the specialized. They seem good but I don't know whether microshift is any good etc?
  17. It seemed to me that the sirrus and the cannondale had very similar specs (both tektro disc, microshift etc) but I liked the fact the sirrus had the slightly chunkier tyres. Wonder if the cannondale would take 42s?
  18. So I guess my the purpose of my post is if you think I should go down the conversion route, if you had 75 Which bikes at 1k are better?
  19. I can't though as those places don't take cycke2work vouchers. And I can't change the value of my voucher now so if I spend say 750 on a conversion kit then I still have 750 on the voucher that has to be spent so I might as well spend it on a new push bike for the conversion. I did look at old bikes a while back before either applied for the voucher and I found it very difficult to find ones in decent condition that had disk brakes in my area.
  20. Yes bit I think there are pros and cons on both sides tbh. If I go down the conversion route then I struggle with which donor bike is best. Not a huge range of hybrids under £800 with good specs. Which would you choose if you were buying one today?
  21. Yep definitely a factor in my thinking. The thing that puts me off EAPC is warranties are short and once they run out you have a very expensive peice of tech that isn't cheap or easy to fix especially when batteries/motors are 'built in'. Conversions are less of issue in this regard and if I decide down the road that I no longer need/want assist then I still have a good bike once I remove the kit. I can really make a strong argument either way though hence the indecision.
  22. Don't have an old bike and it would mean spending money on buying one and upgrading the parts and I'd then once I'd bought the kit I'd still have plenty left on the voucher that I couldn't spend lol
  23. The ones currently on my list of potentials if I go the kit route are boardman HYB 8.6, Specialized Sirrus x 2.0 could maybe push to a 3.0 and a cannondale quick 4.
  24. Thank you Peter. Yes I'm aware of woosh and have been in contact with them. They are definitely on my list of options for both ebikes and kits depending on what I ultimately choose. I'm not sure if my cycle2work voucher will be eligible with decathlon but I will check it out as the 500e looks a good spec for the price and by the looks of it it fits my oreference of range over power as well. I'm happy to pedal but would like to be able to go for long trips without running out of at least minimal assist.
  25. Thanks Peter, do you own/use one of these yourself? Would recommend?
