  1. Well, I heard from others about oil leaks and stuff like that which made me think: Leave your fingers off that. You live since you ride a bicycle which is in my case since 57 years with cable brakes and the ones you do have now are by far better than what you are used to so leave it as it is. Besides this I didn't want to fix hydraulic tubes where there's notthing on the frame designed to keep them in position. Furthermore you would need new brake handles and so on etc. etc. But your comment made me searching on the Internet for it and I found mechanic/hydraulic ones like THIS. Next time I have a brake incidence I might even think about those. Would you think they bring me any benefit? At least they are really maintenance-free from what I could see.
  2. You might be right, but my thoughts were: If they have the technical skill what I would expect from a technical support they would have pointed me towards adjustment. But as they proofed to have no clue of this I thought they haven't deserved it any better. My apologies for being like that.
  3. I am happy with the mechanic brakes. The less complicated the easier to maintain
  4. The 2nd Eleglide does now have 350 km driven. So far I am still happy with it, but lat week I had the following incidence: All of a sudden my rear brake was out of order. It moved t brake pad towards the disc, even bended the disch slightly towards the inner brake pad and then it released. So I was, let's say more than dissapointed, even slightly angry. So I drove back home with just one brake, took a video of it and wrote a complaint to the Geekbuying support. Besides this I was planning to buy spares brake pads since monthes but whenever I looked onto the Eleglide spares website I could only press the "Notify me when available button". So I did even contact them to ask for the brake manufacturer or for a drawing of the brake pads so I can get them anywhere else if they aren't able to supply it. But the only answer I got was:Press the "Notify me when available" button. So I wasn't just complaining about my problem but also about spares availability. After a while my anger was gone so I went back to the garage to make myself familiar with the way a mechanical bicycle disc brake works. Might sound funny to the or the other, but I am old fashioned and until I bought that bike V-Brakes were to me state of the art. So I found out that pads were (of course) thinner than new and I just needed to adjust the inner non movable piston by one turn of an allen key and then everything was working perfectly. It was that easy I could have even done it with the tools I had on board. I just didn't know. But I left the support ticket open and the reply was:"Your brake makes a strange sound (this was when it released). Can we send you a new caliper or do you need brake pads as well?" Of course I said they should send both and they promised to do so. So at the end of the day my bike is back in good working condition and I am geeting a new caliper and a new set of brake bads free of charge. Fantastic . My friends do already make jokes like: When this company goes bankrupt it's your fault!
  5. Must have been a typo. It is supposed to have 14.5 Ah
  6. Just saw they are available again as I saw HERE. And the mid-motor versions as well. Cost is 1249€. To be honest: The price situation is slowly relaxing and before I am going to buy one for 1249€ noone is going to fix I am going to get a 2022 old stock non-mover for 300 € more or build my own.
  7. It appears Eleglide Ebikes aren't available in the EU any longer. I was looking on www.geekbuying.com and searching for eleglide brought no result at all. Searching for Ebikes brought some results, but once I sat the filter to "Only from EU warehouse" this ended up in showing only accessories, no complete bikes. Opening a Service Chat brought the result that they don't sell to Europe any longer as a matter of high taxes. Following Chat protocol: [02/07/2024 21:25:37] Service01: hi [02/07/2024 21:25:47] Reinhard Paul: As I see you aren't offering any Eleglide ebikes any longer. Besides this you have no ebikes at all from a EU warehouse. Is this just temporary or did you stop selling Eleglide? [02/07/2024 21:26:06] Service01: sorry we are unable to ship to europe now [02/07/2024 21:26:45] Reinhard Paul: Okay, question answered. Would you think that is only temporary or have you stopped sales to EU on your own? [02/07/2024 21:28:10] Service01: because high tax [02/07/2024 21:29:00] Reinhard Paul: Okay. So I can be lucky that I bought my bike already back in October [02/07/2024 21:29:47] Service01: sorry about that [02/07/2024 21:30:35] Reinhard Paul: Thanks for your suport [02/07/2024 21:30:48] Service01: you're welcome Looking up the Elglide website I found out that none of their bikes was deliverable to the EU and only 2 Models (m1Plus, 10 left; and T1StepThru , 2 in stock) were still available in the UK. So whomever is thinking about getting one of their bikes you better do it now.
  8. That is always a question of how well it is looked after. Even a bicycle in the higher price regions will be scrap at a certain stage if you don't look after it and maintain it here and there. On the otherend, if you buy cheap stuff but you are taking care of it it can last an eternity. Besides this the question is always: What do you want to do with this vehicle? Crossing the alps? Then an electric bicycle in the 600ish region is the wrong choice.
  9. I love diversity so my range of motorized two-wheelers as of today is as follows: ELEGLIDE M1 Plus 29", 250 W (1/3 HP), built 2023 BMW R1150 GS, 85 HP, built 2001 Honda CM 185 Parallel twin, 17 HP, built 1980 MZ ES 250/2 single cylinder 2-stroke 19 HP, built 1972 JAWA 175 cc, 9 HP, built 1960 What would potentially fill the gaps would be a 350CC Royal Enfield and a 650CC English parallel twin, either Triumph or Royal Enfield But I'd doubt my wife would fancy this and I miss space.
  10. No, mine wasn’t smoking. Only downside of it was that due to the engines position on a hot summer day my arse was getting f….ng hot . Other than this I really enjoyed it. Built in 1983 I bought it 2014 for 1160€ and sold it 2022 for 1000€. Only spares besides consumables was a used oil/water pump. So indestructable and a loss of 20€ per year was 1st class. The only reason I sold it was that I got an 1150 GS offered for a good price so I said: You are now that old. If you don’t buy a REAL BMWW (real = boxer engine) now, you will never ever get one
  11. That is an argument I heard quite often on motorcycles I bought as a bargain with "ugly" colours like purple. My reply was then always: "Might be, but I don't care. I don't see it as long as I sit on it. It is a motorcycle whichs purpose is to ride, not to be sent onto catwalks!"
  12. As you can see it looks as if Eleglide is shortly going to offer a mid-drive Pedelec as well. Still not visible on their website neither on geekbuying.com . Let's wait wich price it will be offered for.
  13. How powerful?? Well, how should I answer this? Powerful enough for me who is a.) 62 years old and b.) 110 kgs light and c.) kind of limited as I was having a bypass operation in my left leg 11 mths ago and I am still wearing surgical stockings. That is all I can tell about "How powerful is it?" As I wrote the first one failed with m as well but that was as I could learn in the meantime not the bicycles fault, but my personal hubmotor handlicng fault as I was using it in a way where an overheating issue was more or less forseeable. But the dealer (geekbuying.com) was quite generous in reimburisng me completely and even paying the transport Coming to your question about motors size: I would judge it as quite small and that's what the spares section of the eleglide webite says: By the way: I was looking at them also already since quite a while as I judged the price-value ratio as extremely good but as I am 193 cm ( 6ft 4") I could only convince my other half ( the one inside myself, not my wife )since I saw the 29" version which works but I shouldnt be much taller than I am.
  14. Would 750 Watt be legal in th UK? Not in the EU
  15. If it’s self-built I‘d agree, but with a finished off-the-shelf Pedelec in the 600ish Region I would not want to risk it
  16. Wow, that would be a good choice to build an ebike on your own with a Tongsheng mid-drive
  17. Let me add some comments to this subject as well though I do definitely not have as much experience as you guys do. First of all, CHEAP and CHEAP isn't mandatorily the same. Cheap can mean poor components and poor workmanship, but cheap can also mean reliable though not newest technology components, acceptable workmanship, but price calculation is, as we say, "stitched with a hot needle". In German language we have 2 different words for cheap. The bad cheap is BILLIG, the good cheap is PREISWERT. If I look i.E. onto my eleglide, I have to say, the frame is made of aluminium, which isn't as durable as steel, but it doesn't rust. Furthemore I am someone who looks after his equipment as far as I can, on his own. If someone needs to visit a workshop even for a flat tire, I would tell him: "Don't touch this bicycle. Go to next dealership and buy a mid-motor cycle in the 3500€ + region or look out for a model of 2 years ago which you might be able to grab for 2000. You will not get happy with my choice" And talking about leaving the bicycle in the rain. Even bikes without motor shouldn't be left in the rain, but who leaves his electrically assisted bicycle in the rain for longer than half a day is to me, excuse my wording, an Idiot. The question you should ask those guys is:"Would you leave your Iphone in the rain as well?" For sure they won't though this is also electrical equipment made in China. Let me comment the fork stuff. Yes my fork is made of steel and I can not guarantee that the rubber sealings are going to last long, but who cares? If it's really broken though I do care I get myself a new one for 68€ Or I do invest a bit more and will have no trouble for the rest of my life. In general I also heard comments besides the life expectation of it that the fork is technically shite. Yes, compared to high-end forks with newest technology this might be the truth. But I don't compare with those. I do compare with the first front-suspension bicycle I have bought for my son in 1999 and compared to this my fork is excellent. But, as I already said, if you are going to buy an Ebike the first question you should ask yourself is: What do I want to do with that vehicle? If the answer is going to be:"I want to cross the alps next summer and my planned mileage is about 1000 miles a month", forget the bikes below 1000 Pound. If you want to commute, let's say, 5 miles each distance, not too heavy slopes and besides this just replace the car for small grocery shoppings or do a 20 miles weekend tour with your kids or your wife (or both) and if you have a hands-on mentality there is no need to spend a fortune. For me personally one important point in making the decision was also: With one exception my most expensive car so far was 2000€ (Peugeot 206 CC, 16 yrs old)and (also with one exception) my most expensive motorcycle was 1200€ (BMW K100, 32 yrs old). Bearing that in mind a 3000€ Ebike was an absolute No-Go. Hey, we are talking about a bicycle with a motor, not more. Take care
  18. Thanks for translating. My Spanish is limited to „dos cervecas por favor“
  19. That makes sense. Thanks for sharing
  20. But it isn't available any longer as I sent the bicycle back. All in all they were quite generous. I guess a local dealer would have tried to blame me for having abused the vehicle.
  21. There's not much space left. The most is occupied by Motorcycles
  22. I have for sure overheated it. I do just assume that this Error "E40" does also appear when overheating but it just didn't find its way into the manual.
  23. Didn't know that "political correctness" is that far in the UK. In one phrase I used the word for what is coming out of a humans backside and it got converted automatically into 4 stars
  24. Good morning to everyone, As I already told HERE, I own an ELEGLIDE M1Plus with 29" wheels. Let me share my experiences with yourself. I bought the 1st one back in October for 750 € from geekbuying. The price there was 799 but as soon as you install the app and register yourself you will get coupons, coins, whatsoever so in this price range (500 to 800) 50 € discount are standard. It got delivered within a few days from a warehouse in Poland, was easy to assemble and it left quite a good impression. But as the warranty is somehow limited (Frame 3 years, battery 6 months, Rest 12 months) and as winter was coming closer I thought it might be wise to bring this bicycle to its limits though afterwards I realized those limits were more my own physical limits. So I decided to do an extensive trip wih several hills with slopes of 10 to 12% and lenghts of 1 km or more. All of a sudden ( my speed was around 5 to 6 kph)motor stopped and display showed E40. Looking trror up in tanual it said: Anomaly in the Hall sensor. The proposed fix was: Replace controls or Replace motor or replace cable to the motor. After a short rest I switched the bike off and back on and it was back in operation though I figured out the rear hub was quite warm. So I sent an email to the Geekbuying support explaining the failure and also giving them the background information like my weight, the slope etc. (BTW: Eleglide is owned by Geekbuying). Next day I received some videos from them with tests I should do. Having done those and sent the videos back the reply was more or less like: "Hey, your bike runs perfect. We don't know what you want from us. And, by the way, you haven't sent a video off the E40 failure." So I replied that I know the bike is still running but that I want an explanation for E40. Answer was like:"Well it must have been a loose connection. A motor is either broken or it works. It appears your loose connection is now fixed." Not being too happy with such reply I asked if this would mean I would be good to continue using the vehicle without the fear of losing the warranty which they confirmed. So I continued using it and did more or less provoke this error to re-appear which it did and even at lower slopes. So I contacted them again and now I could even supply them with a video showig the displayed "E40". Don't know why but they were quite keen on this. Then they replied that I should send the bike back in the original package on my costs and they are going to refund me. I replied:" I don't have the original package and I don't want to return the bike. I want my issue fixed. Just send me the necessary spares and I am going to fix it. Trust me, I am an engineer " Then they offered to send me a spares motor which I accepted though I was a bit astonished because due to the information on their website this motor wasn't stocked in the EU. But 5 hours later I have got a UPS label and the information:"Pack it in whichever package as long as it is safe, drop it off at UPS. We pay the freight and we refund you as soon as it has arrived in Poland. In the meantime I have registered at the German pedelcforum and the information I have got there (besides loads of comments like "Hub motors are shit" or "You can't buy such chinese scrap") was that the way I have used it wouldn't be good for any hub motor even from more expensive brands and that I shold be glad my controller have put it out of operations early enough. So my decision was to buy exacty the same bike again and either avoid such slopes or if I am in the footwalking speed range (app. 5 kph) hop off the bike, put it in push mode and walk. And in the long term work on your weight and your personal fitness . By the time I have oredered the 2nd one it was "Black Week" and I even got it for 650. Since then I am following the above rules and in case I do know that a heavy slope is to appear I go onto the smallest front wheel early enough. I am so far happy with it now. Let's see whether this will continue. If you are capable of reading German you will find more Details HERE Cheers and have a good weekend
  25. These are the prices in the EU: I think especially the first one is intersting as a a spare as it i replaced within 30 minutes withou the ned to mount a new set of spokes.
