  1. Bit confusing the wattage I think I have got the idea though max continuous 250 but can peak at a higher figure .So dependent on windings and controller/battery It could peak at twice as much for a limited amount of time when under a load like a hill .Thanks for the info on Aliexpress for looking at hydraulic disc conversion
  2. Yes just found it on Amazon Tires also are also something like 2.3 iinstead of 2.1 Depends if you want better brakes and 2.5 ah more for the £100 or so extra Brakes maybe a better option but tires I could just get larger profile myself as for the battery thats got to be a plus point but how far do you cycle in one trip ? More powerful motor ? maybe but does that mean over 250 watt so no CE mark
  3. I didn't even know they had released an App Feel sure that over 20 is available though depending of course on road conditions and weather I think most of the 250 watt hubs are really 350 watt the 12.5 ah battery is the plus model there are 7.5 Ah versions but I went for the 12.5 ah version
  4. Had the bike since December 2023 it has a 12.5 Ah battery All aluminium frame so very lightweight I paid £650 It never really gets a lot of miles put on it Range seems to be easily over 20 miles though very good on hills I did unlock it so it could get about a bit faster though Not needed any customer support at all fitted the thumb throttle Has a front light already fitted but no back light which I thought was a bit odd I think the controller is inbuilt into the battery holder I have got a light splitter cable Y one to two I may get a rear light and put on it at some time Overall I would rate it a lot higher than the carrera vengeance the two boys own as theirs have had issues with the pedal sensor ripping out of the wiring harness Manufactures state in electric mode range is 31 miles in pas mode 60 mile They are very easy to alter the speed setting it is in the supplied manual
  5. I have access to three or four ebikes A 24 volt 250 watt front drive folder Which is surprisingly efficient although limited to legal limits I only ever use pedal assist level 2 on the thing as its all Aluminium apart from the front forks so very light A raleigh folder which is legal rear drive shopper which I find very heavy but it is the wifes favourite I have built a raleigh Evo with a 250 watt kit rear drive That is entertaining as its unlocked .A careera vengeance (very bland and heavy & not very good ) and an Eleglide with Aluminium frame very light unlocked to 24 MPH has a throttle and a very good battery life My favourite out of them all is the Eleglide (£650 from geek buying ) for longer easier rides 24 MPH maximum is plenty fast enough on a bike The one common thing between them all is that they are geared hubs You need the most assistance when climbing hills It will come to a point that the police start stopping ebikes that look like they have illegal hubs very soon
  6. I watched a youtube video on a swedish Battery doctors channel Disconnected the BMS from the battery after undoing the cases then using a multimeter drained the BMS of any residual current & it worked This was after trying to charge the cell packs up that were unbalanced while in place which he thought would work but didn't It was fascinating stuff but beyond the scope of people without the expensive equipment to charge these individual cells or cell packs that become unbalanced and dained Hafords aren't very good at fixing ebikes I think they don't have expert technicians as most of them are about 20 years old or younger in their bike hubs
  7. I will look at that route As I take it apart making sure I take photos of wires at each connector point before doing anything else I did purchase some of the new solder connectors that you just use a heat gun on solderseal heatshrink butt connectors .Which may well come in handy If this route seems easy to do But the controller has a built in motor connector plug which fits inside the battery carrier Hailong controller Which I have a large battery that fits I was trying to keep it as idiot proof as I could and the less I have to alter the less I could make a mess of I think the Kit is expecting to see a set of inbuilt settings on the controller as in wheel size and other parameters Been told the kit is almost plug and play If the wheel from the kit fits the frame I will probably go for the total kit Maybe when I get more experienced I will start the joining wires Hesc motor diagrams/schematics are not easy to actually find online I feel happer stripping a motorbike engine and rebuilding it than ebike modding
  8. At the moment I have set him loose on My Eleglide which appears to be mostly lightweight Aluminium unlocked speed not sure if its 350 or 250 watt but he seems to be enjoying it a bit to much I just hope I can persuade him to give me it back Its only a summer bike really for me Popping to the shops I use a really old coyote 20 inch foldable 24 volt front hub bike as it is so easy to store and get out when required I purchased that dirt cheap with a battery that was not even charging for £65 (bargain of the year ) New upgraded yosepower battery cost twice the price of the bike though At a pinch I can actually get it in my saloon car as that is Ali frame with steel front forks and pretty light
  9. The Kit I ordered has arrived in the last 30 or so minutes it includes a wheel with a 350 watt hub So will be trying the total kit Its for my son who travels 9 miles each way to work so the 350 will give better pull up some of the steep hills around his workplace I ordered the wheel kit because I wasn't sure that the wiring of the Hesc hub would be different Quite impressed to have got the Hub from Germany via Fedex in two days though for £206 I may go the route of listing all these expensive to buy Hesc parts on Ebay to recoup some of the costs in this build I only dabble as a hobbyist with ebike stuff Don't fancy setting fire to my shed yet by connecting the wrong wires together So the kit is jolet connectors mostly even down to the controller in the battery carrier
  10. Just going to try to switch out a hesc Carrera Vengeance system totally Awaiting the Kit to arrive. Always seems to have a problem with its pedal crank sensor Once it ripped the wire off by rotating Took Halfords 3 weeks to fix & as for the wifes Raleigh Stow E Way 5 months in has spent more time back at Halfords than with us Only just sorted by giving her a brand new bike Not sure Halfords have any really skilled E Bike technicians One said to us take the bike somewhere else :-( The actual motor cable on Hesc seems to be totally different from the KT motor leads Purposely gone non standard to make repair difficult & the cost for parts extremely expensive
  11. Hi If you want a foolproof front wheel kit I would suggest https://kirbebike.com/ A youtube video quotes 15 minutes to convert your own bike But I think it may take slightly longer They look pretty good Also the combined battery with controller is removable so a bit less likely to be thieved Not cheap at £538 but based in Essex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBGFTNmwSfA:11
