Back to my childhood with a much better trike.
Enjoy! I bought an Alpine Explorer a couple of months ago. I've had problems with the road camber but the road i go on most is quite bad. The right surface though and the stability of a trike is nice. Can you post a picture of it outside?

Pedelec Law - The Details
I clicked on an advert the other day for a powered exoskeleton device. It fits around the waist and powers 2 levers, one on each thigh. Any idea of how to achieve 1.? I heard somewhere that I might need a different controller. I really don't have a clue about pedelecs and I'm not the sharpest chisel in the box.

Hi folks, I managed a few miles on it during gaps in the wet weather. The throttle has been taken off and the remaining wiring has been pushed down into the conduit. Sealing the connector will be my next task. I did make enquiries with the company regarding the throttle but I've had no reply. I get an error code on the display but it's not affecting the performance as far as I can tell. The one thing I will point out though is that it's important to remember to drop into a low gear before you stop if you're going uphill. Otherwise you've got to turn around and go back downhill just to get into the right gear 😂. A legal throttle would be handy in those situations. The camber is a mad thing. When I go downhill into the town it's hard work not to get sucked into the curb. I've come close to having an accident several times as the camber isn't consistent and undulates a lot. It almost put me off riding the trike at first. But the road is used by lorries from a local quarry. Downhill they are full but empty on the way up. I'm pretty sure that's the reason why it's so bad. I have no problems going up the hill in fact I can get up the hill quicker than coming down it. There are small stretches of road near me that are in better condition and the trike is an absolute joy to ride on those. Also getting used to the rear brake being on the right of the handlebar has been a thing for me but I'm getting there. Another thing on the list is to adjust the cable disc brakes. I've never had disc brakes before and this has two on the rear as well as the front one.

Another what e bike thread!
Maybe try free ads, it used to be a newspaper type thing years ago but it's online now. That trike i just bought came with 3 x 15ah batteries, spare inner tubes etc. and is only 19 months old. I got it for only £150. It was up for £100 but I gave more. Definitely a buyers market.

Hello from "sunny" Cornwall
Hello Baloo, I'm new here too and have similar problems to yourself... muscle loss, 6'6", license suspended etc.. I had my heart set on an ebike but after some thought and advice I decided to get a tricycle to offer more stability. They're a bit different to ride but I don't have to rely on weak legs to support me when I stop. I can use it to build up muscle mass safely until my legs are strong enough to go for 2 wheels. I live in rural mid Wales so we're not short of hills. My trike is only 36v so it does struggle sometimes and I do have to pedal harder to get up them but not too hard. Given the choice i'd definitely be better off with 48v. Whichever way you choose to go, good luck and welcome! Jim

Thanks for the advice folks. I'll start a new thread about trying to work the throttle out soon. Id like to try to get it to be legal but in the meantime I'll just take it off.

Yes front hub motor (250w). I was expecting some slipping going uphill but haven't noticed anything. Quite surprised how good these pedelecs are (never ridden one till yesterday).

Thanks for the welcome sjpt. I've got an Alpine Explorer. It was bought 19 months ago by the previous owner, has 2 spare 15ah batteries and I got it at a ridiculously good price. Unfortunately it has full throttle, that's the first bit of knowledge im after.

Hi folks, I've just bought an electric trike. Not ridden a bike for a few years due to health and hills. I've been viewing the forum as a guest for a few months. I'm looking forward to gaining knowledge on the electrical side of things. In the meantime im learning how to deal with road cambers.
