  1. Thank you, for a very comprehensive reply. Alas, it is my Scottish blood that rules the wallet fastener and I find it hard to swallow that a 3.3 Li-ion batt and charger should be £300 Especially in this day and age. Anyway, I let the offer I was looking at go by, I will study the subject a little more closely and see what my options are. Thanks again for the knowledge. Rab
  2. Hi again oh knowledgable ones. I am looking for a source for a 36v Li-ion charger, it will be for my power tool for which I hope to get a Li-ion battery, but the chargers are extortionate. I am searching Ebay but with no luck, but then I am not very good on ebay. Any suggestions or links please? Thanks Rab
  3. congratulations Flecc ....... some achievement!!
  4. Found Multicell who do battery refurb and sell Sub C cells - Prices shown on This PDF page figures include VAT Are the prices reasonable? Anyone know any better outlets/ refurb companies? Thanks Rab
  5. And just WHY do you think they all come to Scotland?? We still have hundreds of miles of open space, technically a 60, ish :D And to the gent at 61 .... I had a friend of 73 return to biking and we did many a tour at a pace to suit him, he even did Europe with old army pals and got through 4 or 5 bikes before finally chucking it in. Never sat a test in his life .... and boy did it show!! :o
  6. Having overshot the runway this morning after a wee series of esses on a downhill section I went off the side of a footpath into a rut, met a kerbstone some 8" high and was launched over the handlebars into the gravel! Sheesh, I'd forgotten how much it hurts to come off a pushbike, leccy or not. Anyway, I managed to break the rear brake lever and throttle along with a pedal. Do you guys have any sources for parts? Any Ebay shops you frequent that might help? all pointers appreciated Thanks Rab
  7. LOL ...... Nice one, thank you Flecc May I point out that road is the A823M What you trying to do? ..... get me killed?? Thank you anyway
  8. Tucked away in KY11 with my Wrangler TY
  9. based on a journey of 5 miles ...... using a pedelec with a top assisted speed of 15 miles and hour ...... and you intend to assist it (just a little it wont need a lot) Your journey time will be ........ 20mins or just a shade under depending on how much you assist

There are many running around Edinburgh plying their trade. I believe the traffic plod took an interest but last I heard had taken no action ...... too much of a minefield I think
  11. Well, that is not my experience. My Ebike does exactly what it says on the label. It cost me £224 delivered - no lightweight bicycle is going to get near that price! The effort required for my every day commute is more than halved In headwinds and up hills I am miles better off than any bicycle on an effort to progress ratio Rab
  12. You know what they say .... you pay a quid, you get a quids worth So, on a steep and very rough main road, clattering downhill as fast as it would go I hit a bump (one of many actually) and the power light died instantly, fortunately within 500m of my work. Open the controller, check fuses and joints --- all Ok Open the Battery and I found the eyelet crimped onto the negative sheared at the screw. Flimsy to say the least, but at least it was a simple fix ....... fit a great big sturdy eyelet and a washer to clamp it onto the very small terminal. Sorted ......... But I had kinda hoped for more than 3 months As I have now had the battery open I know they are "D" type .... 20 off in a simple configuration, and must be 8AH rated What is presently the highest rated "D" cell? And, what would you feel is the "best value" cell getting as close to the highest rating as reasonable? TY Rab
  13. probably the most important point .... If you are going to mass market, it has to be dependable. You can sell them UP to cutting technology later, but only if they trust you
  14. I went for the Cateye TL-LD1100 Seems plenty bright enough to me, several different "modes" and a decent battery life. I paid £30 in my local shop Rab
  15. Hmmm .... now why would you buy 3? LOL No mate, not me ...... I've never had one folder never mind two And my project aint off the ground yet ..... it is just a cunning Scotsmans Muse Rab
